It's the new Signal, targeted toward "privacy concerned" leftoid edegelords who think anyone cares what "data" they have on their phone, which must use Google brand hardware of course.

What's there to say? The story going around about Graphene is an obvious marketing plant that has had the goal of telling a potential audience about a "kewl" feature.

Meanwhile an entire array of systems exist that are outside of the android/ios duopoly but never, ever get discussed or press. Why is that?
>>
>>109398441

You make a good point regardless. Having these allegedly desirable hardware features packaged with the alternative OS would probably move a few dozen more units

it has no security features to advertise with other than having no google services by default (cutting off internet for apps, sandboxing poogle, locking the usb data transfer and such) and it still makes some less meaningful connections to poogle for time sync or whatever
>>
>>109398573
That's circling around my main point. There aren't going to be any real alternatives to the tech dystopia coming out of the USA. It will all feed back into the same ecosystem and be limited by it. If you are sensible and want to encourage the expansion of options in the mobile space especially the answer is in China and Russia because they are developing real alternative tech ecosystems and have serious motivations to do so.

is the phone your shilling actually an original linux device or is it reskinned android?
>>
>>109398637
I think any non android or IOS is an improvement but ultimately I think we need a fuller break. I think Huawei cutting the android cord fully with Harmony was a great move for example. These software ecosystems will grow and as killer apps emerge people in the West will start feeling left out.
>>
>>109398684
i think companies gave up, microsoft tried and failed with windows phone still not sure about the harmonyos on the western market, i've heard that it has an android app support but i'm 100% sure the apps have issues because of google play services which makes them unusable just like on degoogled device so the same lack of software can happen just like on windows phone. it of course does not apply to china. more companies would need to make a move but why would they add massive amount of work for themselves when google provides 90% for them? huawei was forced to.
>>
>>109398839
Harmony is completely android free now
>>
Privacy is part of the equation, but the bigger reason is getting away from Google and moving more to open source software.

>>109398515
basically lineage is made for EOL devices that don't receive updates anymore, in a way to prevent planned obsolescence because the manufacturer decided to stop updating software after a couple of years after release only
it's way less secure than either vanilla android or grapheneos because it lacks security features and device compatibility is dependent on people actually supporting it (so if your device is unpopular it will receive no updates)
in short, lineage is only interesting if you want to keep riding your obsolete device (provided it is supported)

why do these snowniggers always flood our board and demand to know why we arent using russian slabs of suck that wont A: run any app we care about B: get any reception on our celular system nor C: be affordable at any reasonable price? other than linux based phones there is not a single viable alternative to android in the US. anyone claiming otherwise is always some foreign nigger that doesnt know how how cell networks work.
>>
>>109401017
I thought the street shitter was an apple shill locked in the cell phone general?
>>
>>109401081
I guess some people don't want to throw away their perfectly functional smartphone just because the manufacturer decided to stop supporting it, especially considering some devices only get a couple of years of updates only
tho now the trend seems to give longer life support for devices, so yeah over time it might be more beneficial to simply change devices than install lineage if you care about longevity

very dead, roms exist but usually offer no advantage over stock, lineage is like the only consistent one, google is tightened the screw with play integrity around a year ago which makes it extremely hard to pass and requires to use like 4 patches by not very trustworthy developers. whether or not your bank app works depends on play integrity, mine checks for it but it just warned me, told me to remove the app if i'm not the one who made any modifications and told me that i'm doing it on my own risk if i did. overall completely useless if you do not care about google in your phone.
>>
>>109401352
>paid to advertise
As far as I know we can't buy any of this shit so why would someone pay me to advertise it?
>>
>>109401537
custom ROMS are shit because the hardware on a mobile phone is more finicky with drivers than a desktop made since the 1980's. This is why it takes several years to build a mature mobile operating system and why people need to stop complaining that it doesn't arrive 100% equal to IOS. If you use it and use claude or whatever to make an app for it and share it the ecosystem will grow and the investment will be there for development and the OS will appear on higher quality hardware and sooner rather than later you'll have a legitimate third and fourth competitor to android and apple for the mobile phone space.

Look, a reader! A lot of these tools appear to be built around using local architectures and hardware first. They clearly want to control the entire vertical from processor up to software meaning they don't trust western chips at all. A few years ago I tried to read up on Elbrus and found that they (probably wisely) don't release many details, even in Russian. There is definitely some security-through-obscurity going on with this space in Russia. Several of the websites for the companies making them are blocked to IP's outside of Russia, which is somewhat unusual.

Agree with your list but I'd add one more, normies who don't take any privacy precautions and become angry and fearful when they see others doing it.
>oh my god, people are taking data privacy seriously
>i don't know how to do that, it's too hard and i'm too lazy to learn
>this is making me angry and fearful, if please make it go away!!!
>i'll call them all pedophiles for making me concerned about my privacy!!
I've experienced things like this before, normies panic when you take any precautions and break their sense of security. During covid I mentioned to some female coworkers I was stocking up on some necessities because shortages were happening, this broke their delusion that everything was okay and they started subtly insulting me. A few hours later, one of them with a child tried ordering baby food online because I spooked her and she had a kid, it was out of stock everywhere except for one place at scalped prices which she paid for.

It's so painfully obvious. If you're an actual someone and/or you have something to hide that isn't CP you want to have access to at all times for convenience in case you want to jerk off during lunch break why wouldn't you just have a secondary, completely offline device of any kind and a thumb drive or something?
>>
>>109401907
Based on the leftoids I know IRL they all want to be revolutionaries who undermine the State and over throw the government in a fantasy commie take over of some kind or another. They have taken to using Signal groups organized by CIA etc as we saw in Minnesota earlier this year with the ICE protests. They are concerned that "the govt" can see them doing open crimes in these chats and getting actual consequences for it. That and the many who also side-line with sexual perversion stuff. I don't think any are worried about selling drugs any more because they're de facto legal now.

The real threat of data is far beyond the mental awareness of these larpers. They don't realize that the reason they've been turned into wannabe revolutionaries is because they've been massaged into it by people using the data they hand over readily for the past fifteen years.

You don't understand, Neo. They had you on the "anti-ICE" list before you even knew you were anti-ICE. They groomed you for it and when they read your data now they're just checking the quality of their work. There will be no agents to your door unless you do something egregiously illegal for which agents should be sent to your door anyway.

As a midwit you will not understand what I'm telling you.
