Three Proxmox hosts with different configurations, two with 48Gb RAM, one with 16. An old HP MicroServer with 4 x 3Tb WD Blue running Proxmox Backup Server. VMs back up every Sunday night and it just keeps the last two backups.One VM is the main docker host running a pile of things - Portainer, NGINX, SillyTavern, Hermes, Open WebUI, a couple of game servers. Then there's a HomeAssistant VM and the beginnings of a media host VM (when I get around to moving Plex off the laptop it's currently running from).I guess this isn't so much a home 'lab' as proper utilities I use all the time.I'd like to get NextCloud running some time, but the last time I tried it updating was a complete nightmare.
What are homelabs usually used for?

Servers are my profession, not my hobby. A router and a simple single NAS for backups and streaming is enough.

Does anyone use vyos for homelab? Tried pfsense but freebsd is shit with realtek drivers and now im using openwrt on x86 but its kinda limited. Was thinking about trying vyos cause its linux based while being more enterprise focused but it seems like no one uses it for homelab applications.

I run everything through cloudflare to avoid port forwarding and potential DDoS attacks. Before I learned about cloudflare tunneling i got ddos attacks from Russia and China every 3rd day.

>>109404686I really like it btw, just a simple proxmox machine that's low wattage and isn't overkill but makes it easy to run most things in LXCs. I also have a set of 10 Gbit switches as a wired backbone and an old optiplex SFF converted into an OMV NAS (poor choice, no space in the case for multiple 3.5" drives). I imagine this is the most vanilla setup, but it works really well. Only thing missing is a GPU for local models. I have a bunch of lead acid batteries and 4x 100W solar panels, I want to create an off-grid GPU machine but the datacenter boom and corporate/gov't effort to kill personal access to 48+ GB VRAM put those plans on hold.
