According to my calculations, if I get fired, I have 4 years of living in poverty only using unemployment benefits and my severance money. If I use my savings I can go over a decade in total.
This is without a car, eating only beans and subsidized food products, no heating or ac, no life other than using the computer.
If I decide to get a part time job or a minimum wage job, I could live on that until I get old and retire.
I hate how I have to think about this when I earn 110k in a LCOL area

As my job search most likely nears it's end, I would like to share my top 5 moments of all time

1:
>we're going to fly you out to california to do 5 rounds of in person live coding interviews, we'll pay for your flight and hotel and car rental and give you an allowance
>"awesome! do you know what topics the interviews will cover?"
>*ghosted*

2:
>yeah so if you pass all 6 rounds you'll get put into a talent pool where managers can contact you directly and offer you a job, but it's really hard to get one unless you know someone inside lol

3.
>apply to job
>ARE YOU INDIAN? DO YOU NEED A VISA?
>recruiter A contacts me
>ARE YOU INDIAN? DO YOU NEED A VISA?
>get passed to recruiter B after 2 rounds
>ARE YOU INDIAN? DO YOU NEED A VISA?

4.
>yeah so the pay range for this job is $X - $Y, but we never pay around $Y, let me get some better numbers for you

5.
>hi! your interview is scheduled for tuesday.
>tuesday: sorry! your interviewer cancelled. we'll reschedule for friday.
>friday: interviewer doesn't show up
>monday: sorry! we'll reschedule for thursday
>thursday: sorry we'll reschedule for next monday!

I think I recognize you from previous post.
>have a bunch of stuff you never got to
But I don't understand. I feel like I am missing something regarding this severance thing.
What country do you live in?
How many years do you have at your current country?

(my battery is a bit low so if I disappear, that is why).
>>
>>109407297
How many years at your current company?
>>
>>109407297
>I feel like I am missing something regarding this severance thing.
The fact that I'm tired of this company and I'd get paid good money (severance + unemployment) if I got laid off. I was born poor, so this is a lot of money for me.

>What country do you live in?
Let's say latin america

>How many years do you have at your current country?
Are you trying to get me say I'm Indian or something? LMAO, no, I'm not, I live in my country.
I have "10"YoE. Many more if you take unpaid experience (my current job used to be my hobby)

>>109407303
5, almost 6
>>
>>109407320
>>I feel like I am missing something regarding this severance thing.
I forgot to mention that I want to NEET for a while maybe, have my job become a hobby again, and maybe start a business.
>>
>>109407320
I asked about country because I live in USA and USA unemployment pays you very, very little and companies only give severence equal to about 2-weeks of pay X how ever many years you worked there. So, in USA, you would be crying about not getting 4 mos worth of paychecks for not getting laid off. 4 mos worth of paychecks is shit. Therefore I am not understanding.

Maybe it is different in your country, I don't know. In USA if you don't work, you become poor incredibly fast. And getting laid off makes it REALLY HARD to find another job because people assume you got laid off because you sucked at your job so most people run out of severence about half way to finding the next job.

Have you really done the math, or are you going by some wrong information?
>>
>>109407376
I'd get ~1 month per year as severance + about 1.5-2 months of salaries in total from unemployment, so more than half a year in total.
I've been laid off before.

>getting laid off makes it REALLY HARD to find another job because people assume you got laid off because you sucked at your job
My field is still booming, I have many contacts and they know I'm a good worker. Only problem is that I have no certs.
But like I said in my other post, I want to leave this shit, at least for a couple of months
>>
>>109407403
ok.... 8 months of free money... that's nothing. If your field is booming right now and you have alot of contacts then why can't you find another job?
>>
>>109407421
Because a lot of kids have certs, and employers love certs.

>ok.... 8 months of free money... that's nothing.
For you maybe. For me it's a lot, enough to NEET for more than 2 years. I don't have an expensive lifestyle, quite the contrary.
Plus that money and my savings might help me start a business.
And if shit goes south I'll just fix computers, phones or whatever, or might just kms.

Also, see >>109407385

8 months pay is 8 months pay. That doesn't magically become more money just because you aren't working. You are not making any sense at all. It sounds to me like you lack patience, you are in a good sitation right now and don't appreciate it, indeed you are being crybaby about it, you want something for nothing, and you will be pretty luck if you haven't already fucked it up royally trying to negotiate with your boss for free shit.

Other anon asked you if you had a father probably because he was trying to figure out why you don't have somebody there to slap you across the face and explain to you that nobody gets what they want in life, and to be careful what you wish for because you might just get it and be worse off.

I've been a meet before and it was nice
I have my own house. Not the best thing but I can fix shit
I have a bunch of business ideas that I've researched, some touristic stuff and some 99% passive shit.
I'm tired of this retarded company trying to get me replaced with chatbots and asking me to RTO to waste my time just to have a % of the employees quit without compensation (I live 2 hours away from the office and have to commute once a week).
I'm tired of having retarded, obedient zoomers as coworkers that will do everything they are told (maybe even such dick) just so they can survive. I've told them to stop being cowards, but they don't listen, and I suspect they actually talk shit about me behind my back.
I don't care about this industry anymore. I don't want more responsibilities. I don't want to serve useless retards that make even more money than me.
The scam is over. I want to cash out asap, so I can have some peace of mind. Do you understand that?
>>
>>109407511
definitely at least 85% of the job postings do not have an actual job on the backend.

I don't know what I want to do anymore. I've been in operational and architectural infosec for 7ish years now, prior to that heavy traditional sysadmin/infra work. I build or enhance programs, identity, exposure, threat intel, boring GRC shit, active ransomware triage at every stage, all of it. I thought joining a VAR would be kino so I could just build programs and give people useful detections for their SIEM/SOAR but I'm tired of having the same or similar conversations. It doesn't help there's no fuckin jobs out there or if they are its got one trillion applicants within 5 seconds of the post. help

Yes. I completely understand that. All of it. Completely. What I do not understand is your obsession with getting 8 months of pay in exchange for quitting. Why stress about it? Just go in, do the bare minimum, and go home. If you can't bring yourself to do the job anymore, then just quit. Why do you think you are owed money in exchange for quitting?

AI made me depressed.
Not because I will be out of a job, but because I am too competent with ai. Got promoted because of it, expectations are sky high, I'm expected to be hyperfullstack now, and all I fucking do is prooompting, doing minor edits and reviewing PRs
I miss the days where I was stuck on some coding problem, debugging, investigating, writing shit and feeling like a genius.

Gender roles are legit crazy now.

Zoomettes around 20 years old are all massive incels desperate for the slightest sprinkle of affection. In the last couple months I’ve had multiple 8/10s latch onto my ugly 2/10 ass, simply because I’m nice, have stable income, have a bit of muscle from going to the gym for a couple years, and am emotionally mature.

These are truly the end times.

I am considering the same decision.
I've been working for a while, have six figures saved up, unironically thinking about just quitting and neeting for as long as I can and then blowing my brains out when the bank account balance reaches zero. Life seems completely pointless. Everything is black and gay. Can't even relate to other white men because they are all braindead gynocucks who are too stupid to understand their own predicament.
