chinks don't want gweilo learning their language. and english is way easier to learn.
never ever because to be a successful lingua franca a language needs to be somewhat usable with minimal investment. english is actually quite good at this, basic information can survive some egregious grammar and pronunciation errors. as for chinese, most adults don't have the time or intelligence to learn 100 chinkzillion characters long after the language center of their brains has stopped being plastic. maybe if they switched to an alphabet (latin, cyrillic, greek, arabic, doesn't matter as long as it's an alphabet) they'd have a chance.
