Its 100% true. Its already happening. I made a shitty little Android app back in like 2011 that made a grand total of about $3500. About a week in I noticed I was getting like 50 biews a day all being referred by some NY development agency's private blog... about a week after that they had released a clone of my app.
Companies were already outsourcing to the Phillipines/India to squeeze as much as possible out of the generic B2B CRUD market -- that has already been mainstream. They won't care if they can only get $5k for a job they could have charged $50k for a year prior if it only costs them $35 in credits and is 98% automated.
Maybe in the past you could have hid in some obscure niche e.g. you have a monopoly on an app used by like 10,000 people within some tiny field just because nobody else thought to go there but with AI as a research tool those niches will be found and strip mined
