>Apple Upgrade offers 12- and 24-month leasing options for iPhone and Apple Watch, and 24- and 36-month leasing options for Mac and iPad. Leasing prices start as low as $17.99 per month for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad.^ When customers first enroll in Apple Upgrade, they can further lower their monthly lease payments by trading in their currently owned device through Apple Trade In. Customers can also earn 3 percent Daily Cash back when making their lease payments with Apple Card.2

>With Apple Upgrade, customers can expect the same seamless and personalized shopping experience online and in stores. Apple and Klarna have created a simple enrollment process that provides customers with detailed information regarding their leasing options before they enroll.

>At the end of the lease term, customers can upgrade their device to the latest generation,4 purchase it with a one-time payment, or simply return it and exit the program. In the Klarna app, they can stay on top of all of their lease information, including their billing schedule and remaining payments. Customers can add an AppleCare subscription to protect their products, making the return of their current device and upgrade to a new one even easier.5

Klarna is taking over the world

how is this any different than when normgroids finance their goyphones through their carrier and trade up? I guess apple is just getting rid of a middle man?
>>
>>109410102
Leasing phones and shit has been a thing since forever. It saw a decline in popularity with interest free payment plans, but ultimately there's not that much difference if you intend to change phones regularly rather than keeping a single device for many years.
>>
I always pay cash, if I have to save up long term I put my funds into gold

My social credit score is probably terrible
>>
>>109410102
I thought niggers ruined Klarna? Or was it one of the other ones?
>>
>>109410102
25 dollars a month for a mac isn't cheap enough to be worth it, just finance it normally and you get to keep it for an additional $0 after the last payment
>>
>>109410102
>get a 24-month plan
>resell it for the full price
>the buyer gets a locked device only after two years

Telecom companies do the same shit. It's not exactly new. You pay some money to rent the latest wiz bang thing.
>but you own nothing
True but they typically have insurance so if you're a dumb fuck that drops your phone a lot you get another rental for zilch.
>>
>>109410464
>how is this any different than when normgroids finance their goyphones through their carrier and trade up?
that way you end up fully owning it eventually.

with renting/leasing you own squat
>>
>>109410102
They crunched the numbers, and the simple fact is that there are more mindless consooomers who will just pay more for nothing, than there are people who will leave the platform. Same story with video games in recent months, windows in recent years, etc. Most of the population is cattle.
>>
>>109410102
Leasing a car only makes sense if you get a brand new one every 2-3 years, and only poor people do that. It is the most expensive method to 'own' a vehicle.

Apple stuff like phones and laptops really don't depreciate that much (as long as you dont scratch the screen or whatever). idk maybe phones depreciate more than the laptops, I don't buy fucking used apple products anyways (or new for that matter).

It is weird to offer a leasing program, the most expensive way to not own something, for a product that usually doesn't depreciate that much, especially when you get those stupid phone company offers for trade ins.

it's functionally the same if you always end up trading your old device cus you want the new one, you never actually own anything
>>
>>109412717
anon you can buy it for cheap after leasing, t. did it for my past 2 cars

Carriers have been doing leases for literal decades.
>>
>>109412871
This is probably also why Apple is doing this, their stuff is so good that even people on M1 Macs have pretty much no reason to upgrade and lots of people are even still on Intel Macs. Ancient iPhones are likewise very common. So they can probably make more money off people who fall for the rental meme vs people who buy a new Mac once every decade.

I don't really get why you retards are confused by this. It's basically 0% APR loan and you can just pay the remaining $$$ to cover the full MSRP at the end of you do want to "own" the phone. The full price is exactly the same as buying it out right, you'd have to have the financial intellelvt of an actual retard not to use this.
>>
>>109410360
Carrier leasing plans for phones goes back to before there were smartphones.
>>
>>109410464
>I guess apple is just getting rid of a middle man?
explain how come apple only lets you lease an iphone when you chose one of the big-three carriers? big-three carriers are actually winning.
>>
>>109413251
mvnos are a lot cheaper than big-three carriers. switching to a big-three carrier for 0% arp on a phone will still be more expensive if you look at total costs.
>>
>>109412960
yeah, Apple and cheap, right, sure, lol.

Beside Motorola Razr V3, an average phone was $150 at the highest
>>
>>109413251
>The full price is exactly the same as buying it out right
wrong, iphones don't go for their sticker price anywhere but apple stores
>>
>>109413251
it's a lease, not a loan.
if you cannot pay for the residual at the end, the lease goes on and on. so poor people that can only do $50/month but not $500 for the residual will be stuck and will pay $50/month forever.

Except by the time a year has passed and you've only paid $200, the phone is last years model and worth way less than MSRP. Apple will still charge you above market value to buy out the phone. Car leases are the same way. The whole industry is a scam.
>>
>>109410102
Apple stock will explode to $400 after next showcase.
>>
>>109410464
this is apple changing from their previous iphone upgrade program, where they included applecare+ for free and you could upgrade to a new device yearly, or you could keep the same device for two years and own it outright at the end.

I can only see it making sense for the watch because i'd never buy the watch outright but at 12 dollars a month with the upgrade given right away
it does become more appealing

I can't see it making sense for the phone. I want to own my phone and the lease prices still seem pretty high for them or not low enough compared to the monthly payments
>>
>>109414619
>i'd never buy the watch outright but at 12 dollars a month with the upgrade given right away

how's that more appealing? trade-in basically works the same for outright-buying/financing/leasing.

>how's that more appealing
solely the price
at $12 a month I'd try out the watch
I'd never spend $400 in one go for it and I'd certainly not buy it for $33 a month either
but at $12 I might give it a shot
>>
>>109413437
You still had a contact for an overpriced plan. It was the same thing, you just didn't have to get the credits back every month like you do now.
>>
>>109414750
You are not trying out the watch for $12/month.
You may incur substantial fees if you terminate your lease before the end of your initial lease term.
>>
>>109414619
the watch would be the worst thing to do it with as it is the most likely to get damaged and has a band that wears.
>>
>>109414750
>iPhone, $11.99

That's like 2-3 burgers, or one meal.

Its actually over, the WEF won.
Every normalfag is gonna be all over this, you can't find one that would say no to having the newest iphone for $20/mo.

We may as well pack up, hope you have enough PCs hoarded to last a lifetime, or atleast until the technofeudalists come seize it like the soviet union did.

Based. If you can’t right a check for it, you can’t afford it. I paid $1499 +tax for my 1TB iPhone 14 Pro and it’s MINE as long as I want it to be mine.
>>
everyone already buys their iphone with installments through their overpriced mobile contracts
>>
0% finance to own – I can't see the appeal. Leasing? Nah.
>>
>>109420986
I was surprised to learn Americans do this, every time I wanted a phone, I bought it at a tech store, financed it through my credit card (0% interest if you never miss a payment), and then bought a phone plan separately. Getting both through the carrier is 30% more expensive for no benefit
>>
>>109420968
highly debatable that a device with locked bootloader and mandatory online DRM is truly owned by you
If anything they're getting ahead of the upcoming lawsuits for this fake ownership they've been selling for 15+ years now that more people are realizing whats going on by pushing everything to subscriptions and rentals "see your rights are not violated if we're upfront that you don't have any to begin with!"

>>109422278
because 90% of the population has below freezing temperature IQ, most insane defense ive heard for "your" iPhone being taken hostage until you do digital ID in the UK "because i show ID to carrier anyways"
>>
I understand the reasons against owning nothing, but what is even the point to "owning" this technology? It has so much planned obsolesence now that you're always forced to upgrade after three years now. They let you upgrade the device without any additional costs with most carriers, just to push up those numbers for increasing shareholder value. Congrats, you fully own a slow as fuck iphone 17 when the 20 is now out
>>
>>109425418
Create problem, sell "solution" good goy.
I use a $300 7 year old Motorola and it runs just fine, its overkill really, I have 100+ tabs open in Firefox right now and it runs fine. Phones are literally netbooks its your problem if you got scammed into installing all the big tech spyware that destroys it to force you to keep consuming.

but I agree you never owned an iPhone (and most other smartphones) if you can't install your own operating system, one without mandatory online DRM than yeah you've been played for a long time but this comment if legit clearly proves how effective the scam is when 99% of /g/ of all places is full of shilling for apple, smartphones, thin unusable laptops and all the other modern bullshit..
>>
>>109425354
My iPhone 6s works fine. My iPod touch works fine. My iPhone 14 Pro will work fine too.
