Mom, cancel my meetings. The driver timed out again.
>>109410810My friend that bought a 9070XT for his PC stopped playing with the group because his every playthrough had crashes and issues in almost every game.
>>109410885tell him to underclock or undervolt his card a little, it'll fix it
>>109410946>you have to underclock AMGay cards for them to work>you have to undervolt>you have to turn off XMPand people wonder why they have a sub 9% user base. I bought a 9070XT and had more driver crashes in a month than I did in 5 years with a 3080.
>>109410810werks on my machine
>>109410810Today I will remind them.
>>109410946Too late, he is already got a 5080 arriving in a few days.
Meanwhile mesa just works.
>>109411370good for him, i'd switch to nvidia if i werent a poorfag, amd gpu are too much of a gamble
>>109411378Truth Nuke. But Wincucks will enjoy godlike Linux driver soon. Valve sponsored Collabora to port it to windows.
>>109411378But in exchange you have to deal with loonix instead.
>>109410885I have one of those too and I'm terminally online playing games, had the card since more than a year, jumped distros nobara linux to steams, haven't had this crash yet.The issue more than likely lies either with his system or with the rest of the pc and how it interacts with the card, PSU needs a check.
>>109410810Trillion dollar tech firm can't queue and complete IRPs. The state of technology.
The only issue I'm having with my 6800XT is that it thinks its VRAM isn't clearing after a hibernate cycle, so it's currently reporting 57GB of VRAM in use to HWinfo despite its D3D memory usage being only 101MB.Haven't seen a crash or driver timeout in ages, although to be fair I haven't felt the need to updoot since 26.3.1.
>>109411500wonder why microsoft did it
>>109412074nah it's the windows driver. reddit is plastered with this exact issue.
>>109412125did he do a clean driver uninstall before installing the new card?
>>109410810I had this problem. It was something (I can't remember exactly) in Power Options I disabled. No crashes since.

>>109412125>did you try updating your bios?piss off already, amd cards are known to be unstable depending on batch/brand
>>109412231meant for >>109412140
>>109410810>>109410885i have uninstalled amd adrenalin cause it causes annoying random micro stutters on my system
>>109410810If you ever, by miracle, find a driver that works for you, stick to it as long as you can, don't update. All AMD ever does is fix one bug, add three more. If that one bug didn't affect your setup, that's likely to become a problem for you soon enough.
>>109412231Dawg I'm literally coming off 200h of palworld, zero crashes, my only complaint is from steamos refusing to play my background recordings. But on the gpu front? fucking zero my man, your friend has an underlying issue going on.And I had this issue before, not on the 9070xt but the 7090, I refunded that one and it gave me amd ptsd for a while, but the 9070xt? nope.
Reminder that the only way loonix fags can get any decent performance in games is by using AMD and then pretend it works.
>>109412669There's no need to pretend, it does work. Nvidia performance is decent too, there's just too many bugs in the driver.
>>109410810This issue is why I returned my X600 + 8700G and now use my ancient Sandy Bridge system as a NASLuckily I didn't return my 100€ 32GB DDR5 kit (from another shop) due to laziness
>>109412175Works on my PC
meanwhile on linux i'm fucking freestyling mesa updates with no issues whatsoeverfeels good to use a white man's OS
>>109413627isn't mesa an Nvidia package or am I trippin
>>109413634mesa is the userspace driver for amd and intel cardstechnically you can use it with nvidia cards but those fuckers hate their customers so they don't support it and want you to use their proprietary driver
>>109413665thanks
>>109412369you've ignored the fact that he mentioned, several times now, that his friend is on Windows, genius. the drivers are different.
re-seat your card.
>>109411361>>109410885>>109410810kek why is AMD like this?
>>109410810this has been a bug for a decade now how have they not fixed it? my rx480 had this issue from the day I got it, if i dont undervolt, it crashes in under 10. im lucky to get a hour in.
>>109412693I'm dualbooting and whenever I boot into widows afterwards when I go back to linux, windows has damaged my Nvidia drivers and I have to reinstall it. Both have separate sdds, but windows is fucking up the boot. I hate windows. But my AMD works on both.
>>109412175>5 reddit posts out of millions of users reporting no problems whatsoever>implying nvidia hasn't had an history of shitty drivers as well for the past 2 yearsretardyou also don't seem to understand the concept that the gpu could crash for a thousand different reasons that weren't caused by the card itself (e.g. shitty psu, unstable ram)
>>109410810>update from 1060 to 9060XT 16Gb>the games that struggled to run at 30fps on min settings now run at ultra at stable 60fps>not a single driver failure >no overheatingnvidiadrones liedamd deliveredlinux btw
>>109410810the windows driver baffles me with how incompetent it still is

>>109416329>5 reddit posts>https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/new/It's literally entire threads containing people complaining about this shit. The entire subreddit is filled with issues pertaining to the Windows drivers.>implying nvidia hasn't had an history of shitty drivers I don't give a shit about nvidia.>>109416359>it works on my machineNever been a proper argument.
>>109416742>Never been a proper argument.Nevermind, you're on Linux. Yes, that works fine.
>>109416408>>109416742this is nuts. it's like these people don't know gemini or any other llm exists. no will to troubleshoot any issue. first thing they do is cry about it on redditI think the only time in the last 14 years or so I asked someone else (a living human being, directly) for help with technology was when I asked leah rowe for some help flashing my thinkpad lol and that was years ago atp
>>109416769The issue has been isolated, but continue to blame people instead of the incompetent fucks at AMD.
>>109416799If I were them, I would definitely be trying to RMA the card at least. Don't get me wrong. Graphics cards are expensive components. I'd be rightly pissed too, if I updated a driver and my stuff stopped functioning. And yes, the people at AMD are people too. Stop dehumanizing people wtf
Stop using Windows and everything will just work. AMD is build for Linux. Simple as.
>>109415706That's could be the fast startup setting in Windows.
>>109410810People say it's the era of AMD and yet pictured is everyday thing with their shitty products.Meanwhile Intel and Nvidia "just work"™.I think that may be the reason desu - using Intel and Nvidia is so traction-free, people took it for granted and forgot how bad it can be before moving to AMD.
>>109410810I have amd gpu for year and a half and 9070xt speficically since decembeer, but this bs began happening only last couple of weeks or so. What changed?
>>109417911Thanks for this lead about what to try. This specific driver problem gave me some anger issues already.
>>109416769I wouldn't consider "leah rowe" an actual human being but ok

To be honest, if you use Windows you deserve it
>>109411378no, it has the same thing:ring gfx_0.0.0 timeout
>>109410810just disable mpo
>>109417911It's fixed. I am really thankful. This made me rage for a while now.
>>109416742>Never been a proper argument.anecdote isn't an argument
>>109410810I've used Nvidia since 2013.760, 1060, 2060, then I bought a 6700XT and fucking hell, AMD GPU stack sucks, yes it works ootb for whatever limited functionality it has, then you have to look for fixes and alternatives for fucking everything, had like two gpu crashes, had enough and bought a 4090. Still use AMD because I have to setup a lot of workstations, their APUs are great shit, but forget about discrete GPUs, you are better off with Arc GPUs if you don't want to buy NVIDIA.
>>109411370Novidia desperate for a sale lmao
Ahh the daily nShitia paid marketing shill thread!
