Imagine X11 as a soldier in world war II that bravely fought resisted and destroyed nazis and helped put an end to Hitler's empire. Now, Imagine Wayland as a 21st century Gen Z Magical girl who holds strict anti fascist values and maybe a lesbian and or possibly a furry who flourishes with her magical girl friends on the federated domains of Mastodon. The point is both did their part to fight fascism and agree Bryan Lunduke is the spawn of satan, but that aside X11 is really old and needs to retire in glory after a long legacy of kicking nazi ass. Xlibre is best thought of as a underground nazi tech experiment that cloned the DNA of x11 without his knowing to create an evil doppelganger of him. xlibre is the imposter villain that threatens the sanctity of the FOSS community and degenerates x11's legacy. Red Hat employees, Arch Wiki staff and of course the beloved magical girls made sure to banish every trace of xlibre citing the nazi bar rule. No tolerance for intolerance.

anti-fascist values like assisting the jews in the creation of blackmailable moral minorities to be exploited in their host countried to plunge them into degeneracy under the guise of equity and fairness, none of which is actually believed in because they are really just nihilistic hedonists who follow the path of least resistance to dopamine, forming a pathology of self-destruction which masquerades as political ideology? What are they fighting, exactly? I've never seen one who can physically fight.

Xlibre actually implemented a bunch of cool things and I was looking forward to more developments and potentially switching my devices to it (I otherwise use xorg because wayland is still a broken piece of garbage to this very day, literally unusable while xorg just werkz as it has for the past 23 years, i.e. wayland's entire existence).
I don't care about the leftards who took over all of nuFLOSS and their anti-meritocratic views and shit so I don't care about the meme drama in OP.

However, any even remote consideration of gay eye in a codebase is automatic death for any project that has done so and it is not reversible. It's cancer, and there is not yet any treatment for it. Thus, thanks for bringing this to my attention, OP. Looks like I'm sticking to a linux 4.x box with packages of that time period forever.

Yeah that's why I said I'll be sticking to linux 4.x. The vast majority of cve's are irrelevant (e.g. only apply if you turn on a module nobody uses because it talks to, say, cassette players) and the few that are relevant are easier to backport into 4.x than it is to keep up with enslopification that has been ongoing. All the recent cve's are because of a mix of false reports due to ai misfires and ai enslopification.

Both copy-fail and dirty-frag are such an example that only applies when using modules nobody uses ("e.g. because it reads casette tapes"). copy-fail doesn't apply to linux 4.x even if using algif_aead (which nobody uses).
Furthermore, dirty-frag was not "discovered by ai" and copy-fail was only purportedly "ai assisted", with no evidence.

Great self-own, ai tard.

I do not give a shit. I've just yet to see anyone make a single reasonable argument against xlibre. So far, I've gotten ai=bad, and a forum thread where nous appears to be evading reasonable questions, which might only be justifiable with evidence from outside of said forum thread, which nobody has provided. Further, my question regarding why the ai code was an actual problem was evaded. So far, digging through forum posts still seems like an unproductive activity.

I would consider bugs reported for politically contentious software on the forum of a politically contentious distro, instead of the repository of the software in question, to be low to medium confidence information at best. Without myself taking the effort to reproduce each problem, I can generally assume that reports on the issue tracker are more credible. Political motivations aside, "bug reports" in distro forum pages are more likely to be cause by configuration errors or things idiosyncratic to the distro, and not necessarily a problem with the project.
>>109431037
If you're using artix at all and don't know what github is, thats not xlibre's fault. If you're running the distro that demands you choose which obsolete init system you want to use and read the documentation for it, you're literally a retard if you don't end up figuring out what github is at some point.

Artist's initial statement is right there. 'Regressions', not specifically in sonicde. Xlibre's regressions and sonicde's significant unresolved conflicts easily justify not providing further isos of sonicde (running on xlibre, but that seems obvious) until those are resolved.

Also I read the other thread tango shat up and the little drama in their telegram channel, and twice, nous tried to deescalate this imbecilic shitflinging. Tango kept pushing and I have to wonder why you're trying to make him look good. By any measure he's failing as xlibre's pr guy.
>>

1 real issue doesn't explain the lying and making shit up, and total inability to provide clear answers to simple questions, though.
>>
>>109431420
Because the intent is to have the artix devs concede that sonicde itself has no issues that prevent a sonicde iso from being maintained, which can then be framed at best as them saying falsehoods, at worst as them intentionally lying to disparage sonicde. As it turns out, sonicde has worse issues than regressions.

Furthermore, as I've already said, artist's initial statement said nothing about sonicde regressions but merely regressions in sonic+xlibre. Thus tango is twisting the original statement as well.

The Artix maintainers do not have a responsibility to the Xlibre devs to package and use their software in their isos. They wouldn't have to do that if they didn't make xlibre the default for any of their installations. That's kinda jumping the gun and not a very competent decision, but we're talking about the irrationally anti-systemd people, so
>>
>>109431799
I use xlibre with vsync and use steam regularly, so the conclusion that 5. [SOLVED] XLibre crashes when closing glxgears or starting Steam -- solved by disabling vsync = xlibre can't vsync is plainly nonsense and obviously overlooking idiosyncratic details.

Waiting several months while providing xlibre packages in the repos in order to garner preliminary feedback, to then introduce them in the testing then stable isos, and then taking that feedback into account and (seemingly) reverting that decision and keeping xorg as the default for now can hardly be considered jumping the gun, it's a very reasonable way to attempt switching a major component of your distribution.
>>
>>109432280
If they didn't jump the gun, then why are they "seemingly" reverting? A couple of months is hardly enough time to evaluate the maturity of a project unless you're a zoomie, then you might be braindead enough to think otherwise.

To evaluate the state of a project you ultimately need to deploy it, at least on a limited scale. Again, it was deployed in a gradual and reasonable manner, and I'll add that xorg was always provided as an option and made easy to switch back to. I say seemingly because that's what artist stated, but they're reworking things related to their isos so I wouldn't say anything definitive until that's done (and I don't use the isos anyway.)
>>
>>109432466
The state of a project over a week vs a month vs a year vs multiple years is a measure of maturity. Project maturity is not whatever the current state of the project is.
>>
>>109432497
And xlibre is a fork of a decades old project with relatively few changes made to it. You seem to treat it like a brand new project (e.g. PhoeniX), but it's a lot more sensical to treat it as a tentative major release (one with very few reasons to adopt from a user perspective, certainly, at least for now.)
>>
>>109432531
You don't just fork a decades old project and do a major release and somehow fully understand everything effected by your changes unless the people who did the fork were also the people who wrote the original software. That's an unreasonable expectation.
>>
>>109432531
It might as well be a new project, akin to a rewrite to a different language. In fact, it might even be more mature as a project if the people who forked it rewrote it in a different language because that would force them to understand everything about it.

You just perfectly described Linux in general, especially trash like KDE. Except they don't use "trust me bro" but "feelings and diversity are more important than skills or you are nazi".

>character assassination fallacy used against tango
That's the same tango who attempted character assassination against an artix developer and, failing that, against the distro?
>digging through forum posts still seems like an unproductive activity.
>Noooooo stop looking into my dirty laundry
Spectacular backfire

>The real glownigger psyop wants you to use grassroots software instead of corporate backed slopware!
Who are we fooling?

Xlibre just works btw, more than Gayland or Xtroon ever has.

So when people back in the day said the xlibre guy's coding standards were low even while he was contributing to regular xwindows, they were right, huh. Who would have thought.
Xlibre is just another piece of sneedware.

Deeplore here. >>109420616
All this really did start because some trannies had a melty over an autistic polish kid making a transphobic joke in private.
>>
>>109435866
This tango dumbfuck is bringing xlibre down with him, huh?

Checked. It's called FAFO.

I never experienced any of these. I assume it's from Arch users on a rolling release, and I can point to any Wayland compositor (or the protocol itself) and find countless similar issues.
Unlike the old X there's no tearing by default and it has Xnamespaces. Unlike Wayland there's actually proper multimonitor support and you can run it without a compositor.

Are people still defending this crap of a fork? Besides tango I mean.

If you're really tech literate enough to know what a display manager is "It just works" is enough. I can share how I installed and configured it if you want.

This wouldn't have blown so much out of proportion if that tango nigger had kept his mouth shut and not demanded explanations and apologies. Perhaps even, Artix would resume making Xlibre ISO if/when they sorted their shit out. Show him the door.

Guys what the fuck is this shit? What is this drama about? I don't know much about this ecosystem, I just want to know if shit works. This is beyond autistic. Go for a walk, clear your head, quit being a bitch, all of you. Or make an actual discussion thread and keep the autism contained here.
>>
>>109436067
No thanks, tango. I'm on Xorg and It Just Works. Better fps in Cyberpunk too.

idk who Tango is and I'm not caught up on the latest drama. But Xlibre is the future of display managing on Linux. Have you considered sending Metux an e-mail that there's a problematic individual in his organization?
>>
>>109436147
OK tango, I will.

xlibre is getting so desperate they're celebrating adoption by a distro created by a transgender:
