Hello

how works chimera linux for you? never tried it
>>
>>109420949
Been using it for almost half a year. It's pretty good, definitely one of the more unique distros.

Architecturally, it has; dinit, musl, apk, and freebsd userland over GNU userland and I am really fan of it.

However, it has it's limitations and isn't for everyone, primarily it being musl based as most software target glibc, meaning proprietary ones won't run out of the box and you'll have to resort to flatpaks or appimages. If it's an open source one, you can easily port it with the tools.

Check the FAQ page, it should answer most of the questions you have: https://chimera-linux.org/docs/faq

Good thread to see the different display refresh rates people have. I'm interested in that.

how the fuck do you do that cool animation with your terminal?
>>
>>109426785
The animation is from No Man's Sky. You can get the code for it from Shadertoys, then create a GLSL file, and finally add a rule set in the config file for Ghostty terminal since that terminal allows GLSL shaders. YouTube also has guides how to do this as well.

can you use the graphic cards all to gether for one LLM?
>>

pape?
>>
>>109430432
yes, all of the Nvidia cards can be paired together via nvlink, however total usable vram ends up being about 118GB, not the full 128GB due to uneven splitting being common.

All in I only spent 1700 on this entire server, charis and all, have it underclocked using only 1.8KW currently and its running great, better than a DGX spark for half the price.

this is awesome, how did you aquire this for 1700$? Did they fell of a truck or something? Jesus christ
>>
>>109430601
I was shocked when I found it this cheap, ive been wanting to do Local stuff but the barrier to entry just didnt make any sense.

spent months upon months searching for servers on ebay, eventually found this one, listing is still up for 1400 (it saysno CPU, ram or hdd but mine came with all, even if it doesnt they are all cheap) shipping was about 180, plus drives and extra ram.

Listing is still up actually

if you remap your print key to
gnome-screenshot -i

you get a menu for choosing a snipping screenshot, window screenshot or the whole desktop. figured you might want to know
>>
>>109431341
Thanks. I had just assigned a keyboard combo to printscreen.

How do you like linux mint on it? Do you find the desktop environment of cinnamon or MacOS better for that size laptop?
>>
>>109431409
I've had no issues with the interface compared to macos for usability. The wifi didn't work out of the box but I just had to hotspot off my phone for an automatic driver update.
The webcam is the only other thing that didn't work and I was able to get that going as well following a tutorial but somehow it seemed to get wiped again in an update.
>>
>>109431455
>but somehow it seemed to get wiped again in an update.
huh that's odd, I think its an issue with mint on older macbooks iirc
>>
>>
>>109431517
Could be. I haven't really cared much because I was just using it to fool around in OBS.

my best guess is because the GPUS are a bit old, pascal so no good fp16 support, but still works for llama,

That plus they are the 16gb instead of the 32GB.

Not sure though, best deal ive seen in 6+ months of checking ebay daily, have not regretted it at all.

On mint you just need to hit shift print screen and it will allow you to copy what you want from the screen
