I've always wanted a gpd handheld and I have a launch 'eck and an older gaming laptop that keeps eating batteries. It's a bit cumbersome to lug both of these around (plus power brick) when I need to travel, especially if I'm also bringing a work laptop.

Should I purchase a win max 3 to replace both of these at the same time?

The win max 3 specs look pretty good:
>strix halo
>9" 165hz oled
>97Wh detachable battery
>quad channel ram up to 128gb
>1x full size nvme port, 1x 2230 size
>$1700 starting
but
>no semicolon or quote key
>decent spec is probably going to cost a kidney

I'm also not sure if I should just wait for the next iteration of the win mini. It would trade away some productivity and performance, but I'm sure it would be cheaper and more comfortable to use and transport. But then I'd still likely want to bring my personal laptop. Then again, most of the time I won't be travelling, so is it really that big of a factor? I'm not sure.

For reference here is a size comparison of the original win max 1 with the win mini. The win max 1 is roughly the same size as the win max 3, not including the battery chin.

Oh, the other thing is that I could start bringing a portable monitor and compact keyboard with me, which would be useful for my work as well and would reduce some of the downsides of a win mini

>>109422015
was thinking about it myself desu.
The keyboard layout not being standard is the worst part about this yeah.
>>
>>109422015
How hot do these things get? Using the controller buttons next to the screen and gripping it on the back sounds like a horrible idea.
>>
Only one type-c? I use both type C ports on my GPD Max2 all the time, even now.

There’s a usb 4 port on the back
>>
I don't understand the product. If you want a mini PC for productivity why do you have gaymer controls? If you want a gayming device why have a full keyboard attached?
The only niche I could kind of see a usecase for is flying drones or RC cars but the joysticks aren't the right kind. It's just a worse gaming handheld and worse mini PC.

Both sets of controls look fine to me.
Maybe don't have grotesque sausage fingers, fatty.

Jesus Christ the projection. How can you be so obsessed with body image but can't see how much of a dweeb you'd look with one of those?
>>

I wish there was a version without the joysticks, they drift and mess with things after a while. I use mine as a UMPC.
>>
e-waste shit
>>
>>109422015
>1700$
holy fuck
that being said i walways wanted a mini laptop something smaller than 14 inch
>>
>not even a SCSI port
bye
>>
>>109423725
what’s up with niggas who all want 10 glup shitto ports on a compact handheld
>>
>>109423323
It’s for someone who wants a mini pc that is also a gaming device.

>>109423597
They do? I’m pretty sure the sticks are hall effect anyways
>>
>>109422015
No funky 701C keyboard, no buy
>>
>>109423798
It could be a mini pc that comes with a mini controller.
>>
>>109422015
heh, i'd reset her bios
>>
>>109423323
this would be very useful for me because I have to sometimes go and control my experimental robots or drones in the field while also having to adjust some code and configs on the fly but that's an extremely niche use case.
>>
>>109423798
Now give me one of these with an ISO keyboard
>>
>>109422015
>>no semicolon or quote key
The fuck? My GPD Win Max 2 has that. Is this new version smaller than it?
Anyway, my WM2 is great. Got 64 GB of RAM and paid about 1200 USD for it. Still using it to this day, but it's really just been a portable laptop for me.

How is their customer support? Not seeing much online except a few angry people.
>>
>>109426687
Extremely slow to respond and fix your shit, but they will do it eventually. It's a Chinese company so support is going to be ass. Get one from a reseller like DROIX if you really care about that sort of thing since they will take care of it for the most part.
>>
>>109426235
You can just get one of those small 8bitdo controllers and carry it around.
>>

Frankly I think you should just bring your work laptop + Deck with you when you travel and just play some lighter-weight games that don't eat through the Deck's battery that quickly when you're not next to a charger. It's a PC so there're shitloads of games included in that category, of course including shitloads of console games which are old enough to run on lightweight emulators.

It sounds like you have ample means of playing shit on the go already, you don't need 3 devices which all solve the same problem slightly differently. You mention you don't travel that much, then you can pick the games you play on the go so they're more appropriate given the circumstances and you don't need EPIN AAAA GWAFIX with 0 optimization that will suck up a Deck's battery in 45 minutes or something. Just keep those games to playing at home, or in your hotel room when you have access to wall power.
