I need pcie 6.0 ssd.
>>
>>109425176
Yeah bro what's the average temp on these? 50c without active fan? LOL.
>>
>>109425176
Just give me an 8 TB SSD for reasonable prices. I don't care how fast it is. SATA SSD is fine even though they now cost more per terabyte than an NVMe drive because of the clown world we live in.

If I put 8 of these in RAID0 can I finally run kimi k3 off ssd
>>
>>109425242
50C is nothing for an electric device. It would be a problem if it was 80+.
>>
>>109425412
You can’t lick em if they’re above 60C, which breaks my use case
>>
>>109425176
So what's the actual bottleneck for these if there is no noticeable different between gen 4 and gen 5 already?
>>
>>109425412
>50C is nothing for an electric device.

Retard it kills the SSD.
Good luck having 10 years lifespan on a ssd under constant 50c heat LOL.
>>
>>109425427
>if there is no noticeable different between gen 4 and gen 5 already?
Maybe if all you do is store frog reaction images
>>
>>109425445
Le heat is a meme, it’s heat when the ssd is unpowered that causes issues with data cells
When it’s running there is no difference between 40 and 70 for the memory chips, only controller cares about that and anything made this decade will thermally throttle way before damage becomes a concern - and those dont degrade, they either work or dont
>>
>>109425176
>I need pcie 6.0 ssd.
Why? For regular user there's barely any difference between NVMe and SATA SSDs
>>
>why do you want cool tech when you could use sata from 10 years ago?
saar why buy iphon wen pooco also work?
>>
>>109425986
>why do you want cool tech when you could use sata from 10 years ago?
Yes. Why?
>>
>>109425986
They're trying to price SATA out of the market. It should be cheaper than NVMe drives but rip-off merchants are making a killer.
>>
>>109426006
>buy nvme
>buy dongle to connect it to sata
why wouldnt it work? sata feels like dead end when nvme exists
>>
>>109426049
Yeah, you could do that if you're looking at it purely from an interface perspective.

SATA isn't dead when most NAS enclosures still use it though. It shouldn't be priced anywhere near as high as it is because it's typically worse quality flash storage for the money (and that's okay if you're sticking it in a NAS or using it as a scratch drive).

i need pcie5 optane ssd
>>
>>109425427
>if there is no noticeable different between gen 4 and gen 5 already?
Dumb redditor gaymer
>>
>>109425176
No, you don't. In fact the vast majority of users don't even ave DDR5 or PCIE 4 because personal computing is dying and click bait about enterprice datacentre only tech is worthless as is the business model driving it which is anti peronal computers even at the risk of adopting loss making business models and inferior products.
>>109425380
This anon knows
>>
>>109425380
you could buy decommissioned datacenter 8tb u.2. ssds for $500 on ebay the last few years
>>
>>109426106
Those would ruin pcie aspm when used with modern cpus
>>
>>109426106
That or you could buy decomissioned 10TB HDD from datacenters for $80-100 for the last few years.

Sheeeit weez still beez using da whyt man words

>>109425934
>>109426083
So are you gonna post examples of noticeable differences or just act like retarded niggers?
>>
>PUBLIC FYI:
The actual lines for PCIe are physically limited to ~32gb/s
Sata is always limited to ~6gb/s
Anything you add will necessarily be capped tp this. Not sure what this marketting is about or how that would even work
>>
>>109427369
>pcie 6.0 is out now
Nvm I stand corrected, am too old
>>
>>109427187
NTA but mainly loading AI models into VRAM. That's it. It'll take like 10 seconds for a really large model instead of 15 seconds. There's also some methods to only load in layers dynamically and stuff like that where it might matter more during actual inference.

Missing the last part where those with "true expert knowledge" wrap around by talking about shit they have zero fucking clue about, but think they're right. Prime example being Neil deGrasse Tyson.
