What's the problem? Iti's nothing to hora about. Wake me up when it's a masonic 33%, that's when trouble starts.
>>
>>109426102
Bruv you realize its been below 1% most of the time?
>>
>OS X
>macOS
Are that many Apple users still on pre-2016 versions? I don't believe any of this.

>June 5.59%
>July 7.53%
That is a 97.6% relative gain from May to July. Thats almost exactly double the user base. Holy shit
>>
>>109426112
It might depend on the browser, maybe Safari says macOS but Chrome says OS X.
>>
>>109426132
There's about a million active, online Steam users using Linux right now, but that's a highly specific group of people (3.7% of users). I honestly doubt 7.5% of the world uses Linux on their desktop.
>>
>>109426104
And this is mindboggling news in comparison? Not really. And it's not entirely a good thing for linux to be so visible to normalfags. You're about to experience another round of eternal summer, or eternal september depending on who you ask.
If you think it's bad now with all the rabid gamers and clueless morons that don't know how to use the AUR, it can get worse.

>>109426123
13 would mean confirmation of acceleration of linux adoption.
>>
>>109426089
I use Fedora, btw.
>>
>>109426132
When did the Steam Machine release again? Although I doubt it has anything to do with the increase.

End of June, but so many Goyfluencers are talking about Linux right now + the Steam Machine hype. I don't think the Deck or Machine makes a huge difference, it's just all the hype around it, despite being so expensive.
>>
>>109426210
FreeBSD is a meme OS used by Sony to power their PS4 and PS5. Zero donations, zero code contributed back to the project by the way.

/g/tards will tell me with a straight face that 7.5% of the world is using Linux because statscounter of all snakeoils is telling them so

>7.5%
This is the global average on desktops. Of course there are countries with lower numbers, but this USA for example (picrel)
You have to realize that PCs are dying and the remaining people are gaymers and people at work, the fraction of PC enthusiasts will swtich to Linux and normalfags always used phones and tablets.

So cookie cutter.
>>
>>109426264
China skews the global desktop market towards Windows.
>>
>>109426264
PC enthusiasts jumping ship to linux would cause normalfag gravitation towards it given time and ease-of-use as the years go by.

>>109426269
Perhaps it could be one (1) person doing the posting? OP is traditionally known as a faggot after all. Things don't have to be so complicated.
>>
>>109426281
Frankly I always found it ironic that the chinese would pirate windows instead of having the government mandate they only use a homegrown OS.

I think the majority of steam machine users won't use the desktop mode, so they will likely never trigger the statcounter.js on websites.
>>
>>109426240
>the fucking moron doesn't know that statcounter is a well known scam site operating out of a secure mailbox in an industrial park in ireland
>that relies 100% on scraping user-agents using javascripts that statcounter pay site admins to embedded in many websites

You are right, there is definitely a curry scent. MS is probably paying statcounter, the 23% unknown just vanished. Windows was at 60% last month and suddenly is over 70% again.

Do you have better sources?

>>very same scripts that are blocked by ublock origin and noscript
Not true. statcounter.js can see your user-agent, even with UBO enabled, tested on Chrome and Librewolf. Unless you use a user-agent switcher.
>>
>>109426175
It might be a little bit inflated from botting (statcounter pulls from useragents) but I wouldn't be surprised. Windows 11 turned several generations of PC's into e-waste overnight, let alone how bad it is in general.
>>
>>109426175
I heard some European countries switched to Linux so it's likely that there are a lot more non gaming desktops running Linux. I mean OSX sitting on 2.21% on Steam, but their statcounter usage is much higher. I don't think gayming is a good metric.
>>

Boy, that cachyOS sure is an overnight success. I hope nothing bad happens to AUR or anything.

Doesn't count the fact that the BSDs are forced to spoof their web browser user agents, since some sites will refuse to serve them.

You can simply just not use the AUR. But trusted packages are fine.

US is more impressive. 11% on Linux, up from 3.7% in May.
Worldwide is kinda irrelevant since it doesn't matter what latinx/africans/etc. use
>>
>>109429451
it literally ships with software to make use of it
>>
>>109426089
I think i'm already about a year using linux. For every day use it's a perfectly fine system. I only play old games so it made me leave windows faster. I still have a desktop with windows 10 that i turn it on when i need or once a month to keep the ssd alive and update defender. I kinda need because shit like microsoft teams is bitch to use on browser or phone, work and college still use this crap to talk with you.

CachyOS won't install AUR packages via pacman, but it does provide tools like paru or aura to install AUR packages. If you do not deliberately install from the AUR then you are safe from malicious AUR packages.
>>
>>109431118
none of the arch based distros install aur packages with pacman lol
>>
>>109431118
Same with Arch: >>109431147 you have to literally go out of your way to enable the AUR in Arch. Anyone that got malware from using the AUR simply didn't read the "cavet empor" warning about using AUR scripts over compiling themselves.
