Your prompt might be too character focused, so it makes the character materialize even when it shouldn't most of the time

My prompt these days just basically tells it to continue a story so when I take detours it doesn't do this so much. It does try to bring the character back here and there because Claude loves filler (which a lot of times does well for the story anyway) but in ways that make actual sense.
