What the fuck. I used to think TSMC was the final boss, but they're basically just running equipment built by one Dutch company. They can't do anything without ASML. This one Dutch company makes the only EUV machines on the planet, $400M each and nobody has managed to copy them. They make these like 10 a year. Even the copycat king can't copy their 10 year old technology. They're rarer than B-2 bombers, and the US basically uses them to block everyone else from making modern chips. How is this company not more popular? Holy shit, the Dutch actually won, the true upcoming superpower

>>
>>109448609
1. they heavily modify the machines, that's why tsmc can print stuff that no other asml client can, even if they buy the same machines
2. asml itself doesn't really do much, the most important and complex part (the euv source) is made by an american company
3. most of the research to make the machines wasn't done by asml itself, it was done by the american department of energy, and then licensed to asml
4. most other parts aren't made by asml either, but by a cottage industry of international contractors

everything is fake, all big brands are potemkin villages and facades that merely shuffle around shit they buy from no-brand, no-name companies and contractors that you will never hear about. why? because a business that is easy to understand is easy to tax, so adding complexity has become a vector for business optimization (tax evasion)

>>
>>109448787
No, it was not US controlled but a lot of US funds bought shares in ASML, so now their ownership structure is multinational.
And since Euros continue to cuck to Uncle Sam for defence, the Dutch don't dare do anything that would upset the mutts.

If they were ballsy they would declare it strategic and nationalise it.
And stop shipping any machines outside Europe.
And tell TSMC "if you want to build chips you move here and build here"

Because let's get real TSMC does this because Taiwan wants to keep the West hostage to its security interests. So they would never willingly transfer knowhow from TSMC.
>>

We told you it was alien space magic. No one listened.
>>
>>109448735
>2. asml itself doesn't really do much, the most important and complex part (the euv source) is made by an american company

False. ASML only takes some quarts and maybe some design parts from the US.
But the most unreplicable part of the machine is the light source, which is based on optics made by Zeiss. You need such a level of purity that nobody on the planet can achieve except Zeiss. Not even the chinks who had engineers that worked at ASML were able to replicate that. Which is why an ASML machine is the size of a bus and can print the latest nodes, while the Chinese one is the size of a whole floor and can only do 10 years old nodes.
>>
Its slightly frustrating that sure you have pictures and explanations of the asml machines functions but you have jack on tsmc production steps since trade secrets.

Itd be really neat to see the entire process from growing the crystal monolith to a finished chip

It's real-world value is probably higher than Apple and Microsoft combined.

>>
>>109451190
I think if other companies were seriously pursuing euv theyd just have a different company to do the mirrors. Thus far no one has been doing euv besides asml so theres no reason to make flat mirrors.

Its not the lens really, do you know the process to produce the correct EV light? Its so ridiculous it was only fantasized in theory until asml actually succeeded in implementing, they hit mercury (?) droplets mid air, multiple times with lasers to transform them in the correct shape and then explode them to generate the light
>>
Congrats anon, you just discovered <SUPPLY CHAINS>. Your units now get produced +15% faster and your caravans get 1 extra move per turn.

Now go on a bit further and figure out who supplies ASML with similar, non-fungible technology (hint: Zeiss, and others). It's critical dependencies all the way down.

All these companies depend on Japanese semiconductor materials. America banned Japan from producing computer hardware in the 1990s so Japan went all in on chemical manufacturing.

Japan produces over 50% of the world's semiconductor materials, holding near-monopolies on critical ultra-pure chemicals, silicon wafers, and advanced photoresists essential for global chip manufacturing by companies like TSMC, Samsung, and Intel

Photoresists (EUV, ArF, KrF): Light-sensitive polymers used to etch circuits. Japanese firms supply over 90% of advanced needs.

Silicon Wafers: Raw foundational substrates for microchips. Japan commands roughly 60% of the global market.

The dutch will never again be a superpower. The last time they were, the bomb was not yet invented, and now we have nukes or at least VERY strong ICBMs.
If you understand the GEO in geopolitics enough to know that Iran/Persia is and will always be in a very good spot, think of the Netherlands as the polar opposite of that. One well placed bomb at the dyke will flood nearly the entire country immediately (because it's below sea level), it's kinda like what bombing the three gorges dam would cause to china.
>>
>>109448787
basically yes
>>109450538
no

so what is now asml was given a lot of technology by the us department of energy in the 90s. basically their entire modern technology stack comes from this. this is why the us can dictate terms in the way it does and why they still effectively control it. if you take technology like that, and it's teh same for all military technologies as well, the originating country (the us 90% of the time) can veto who you do and do not give it to. a big example of this is sensors in missiles. most of them are actually either sourced from the us or based on american technology, so you have to ask american permission to sell it on. another great example is the f-16, countries cannot sell their airframes without us permission. it's the same across all nato/western countries. same applies to all high-end, semi-national security sensitive shit.

the exact motivation for this is something to speculate on, but probably was so the feds could control the world microprocessor market in a way more acceptable to eurofags, who were back then becoming more and more irrelevant each day after the fall of the soviet union and clustering around the emergent eu as their main hope for the future.

We're still stuck at 10nm pretty much.
The EUV machines is what take you there.
TSMC is the final boss because they do a shitload of optimizations in the components themselves to pack more into the same space which is how they reach ((2nm)).
It's "the component density that we would achieve with normal components if we could do 2nm".
The main difference is that every new process makes the transistors more expensive instead of halving the costs as it was until 10nm.

BS muttoid cope. If Americans were able to build ASML machines they would have done it. But they lack the advanced physics brains that can be found in northwestern Europe where physics departments are the best in the world. Same reason why Europe has the CERN, because academic physics is better in Europe than in the USA. And that's reflected in very fine hightech industry. Like optics, photonics, lasers. Of which Europe produces the best.

And the USA without Chinese academics would be pretty much insignificant in this space.

What fine industry does the USA have? All the advanced electronics are outsourced to Asia. What the USA has is jewish financial ponzi schemes and "design". It doesn't produce any core technology that everyone needs to build something critical like chips.

Would be cool if their countries technological status reflected that
>>
Full disclosure: I'm a Dutch citizen and work for ASML.

It's more than that. First of all EUV is actually our last generation product. Our current flagship is "High-NA EUV". While EUV is in the name It's a completely new technology and only Intel has bought these machines thus far.

To give you some perspective China doesn't even have a DUV level of machine which is decades old now. Xi Jinping is aiming to have a DUV capable machine by 2030 (they are behind schedule on it) and an EUV machine by 2045.

I want people to realize what that means. China is proudly planning and announcing that they will have our LAST GEN machine capability in 2045. While we, in 2026 already are on the next paradigm.

This is why the West is going to win the AI race and why the EU will be a big player within it. During the upscale of AI every fab will eventually need to buy our new High-NA machines. The entire AI industry will be dependent on it.

NTA but having the "memory market" doesn't mean anything. I work in digital design for microelectronics and their expertise is mainly in routed IPs. They know what to do with the machines, they don't know how to make the machines themselves.

Someone in the thread mentioned Carl-Zeiss and this is a good example : it's the only company in the world capable of doing the UV optics for the EUV machine. No one else can, and obviously a lot tried. Sure, a lot of countries, china included, can make some wafers at EUV range, but they're done in academic labs and will never be economically viable.

Couple the optic expertise with... everything else, really, and you understand how insane those machines are : the molten tin lens EUV source, the nanometer-precision carts moving at 20G's, the sensors measuring at the picometer resolutions over centimeters, the fucking algorithms that make the entire thing stable ??

people don't get it but those machines are by far more impressive that the moon landing or anything else humanity has ever made, ever.

China will win the AI race because US will bankrupt itself and Jacketjew will sell all NVIDIA hardware to China. China also has 2x more AI researchers then the whole west combined and 5x electricity capacity. The moment US AI companies collapse under their own terrible finances all of the data enter hardware will be sold off to China and they will run more efficient models there. And at the end of the day Jews will blame the average citizen for it because people don’t like AI, because normies calling AI videos slop is totally the reason why OpenAI has been incapable of approaching making profit.

Idk, maybe the publicly available 5 year plan that China releases every 5 years? Also I agree that the AI race is mostly a meme because if US wins it they get nothing but their country ruined, and if China wins same shit happens. AGI can do everyone’s job but it’s not magic, office work gets automated and US has no real industry so without white collar labour it has nothing to make money.

Their history is quite nice, they weren't the only ones trying to research EUV but almost everyone had thought it was impossible while they kept going (and burning through their investment money).
That being said they pretty much kicked down the ladder since their supply chain is so large and specialized no other company could do the same (not just china but also other euro and american companies, though china certainly is doing their best to copy it)

>because a business that is easy to understand is easy to tax, so adding complexity has become a vector for business optimization (tax evasion)
That's not true, in Canada (I'm not Canadian kek) they had one of their power plants hacked and the hackers destroyed the Power Plant's ability to measure how much energy the grid was using, so instead of shutting down the Power Plant to fix it, they are just charging people random fucking amounts claiming its based on "their 10 year average" except its not cause it fluctuates all the time and some people who are paying way more than they used too and others who are off the grid are getting bills and when they call to dispute it they are told that they have to pay it or they'll go straight to jail until their court date.
You can always make something way too complex to the point that the people who tax it don't understand it, over tax it, and kill it. You want to walk the line that its understandable enough to tax, but not understandable enough to tax efficiently or completely.

ASML the company is not impressive but the machines that they build with the help of hundreds of third party manufacturers and decades of R&D from thousands of different people is actually impressive. A fantastic example of the compounding effect of human achievement and discovery over the generations. ASML will not be the final step in this process of invention either, just another stepping stone on the path to progressing ever forward. Other companies will come later.
>>
>>109465625
>the machines that they build with the help of hundreds of third party manufacturers and decades of R&D from thousands of different people is actually impressive
Well, of course, in the same sense any process of manufacturing industrial equipment is impressive.
They all work like this. They all have a bunch of specialized companies with R&D in the chain.
Because, guess what: It's not economically viable to have lots of competition when it's about factory equipment.

You see the same type of monopolies when it's about something like pumps for gas pipelines, hydraulic turbines or refinery equipment etc. All that stuff that needs to be specifically made for a specific purpose of a specific type of industrial plant.
Lets say a country wants to have 10 factories producing product X and for this they need 10 devices Y that do Z. Does it make sense to spend billions to develop Y yourself, just to build it 10 times and then... dissolve that company again?... or what do i do then?

So what happens is that all international actors, that are interested in building such factories, invest together to build up a production chain of Y. And they make sure that Y isn't in control of a single company, in order to not get blackmailed down the line.
So the production of Y is a chain of individual companies that, every single one taken by itself, is easily replaceable. Then they add patent-cuckery on top to make them legally dependent as well.
And that is what ASML is, and that is why ASML is such a cuck company that follows third party orders and why the dutch have no way of asserting power with it.

I was with a Dutch girl from May till July.
Before me, she was polyamorous and had multiple relationships at once, with multiple dudes she fucked and they knew about each other. I told her, i am not a cuckold like those pathetic "men", and told her off for how bad this is. I expected her to leave on the spot, but instead this turned her. She was a turbo slut and needed it daily, multiple times if possible, and she was actually loyal while with me.
She had a humiliation fetish, liked to be told off and wanted to be slapped and beaten while getting fucked. Once she wanted to go to a pride event and i dumped redpills on her about how that degeneracy is a jewish psyop. And she loved that.
But of course she would never learn anything. She has her globohomo-brainwashed mind set and whenever you questioned that, i turns into fetish play for her. And she actually does hold all those retarded globohomo takes, because she does those idiotic phrases like "we all were immigrants once :)" with people she has no sexual interest in.
Eventually my brain was smarter than my cock and i got away from that whore.

And experiences with other Dutschies weren't much different. They are all pathetic push-overs, it's unreal.
I wonder how they ended up like this, maybe there is some historical reason, like when Napoleon dissolved their country in an evening stroll.

btw. right now in this moment, they have a two weeks long LGBTQ+ festival in Amsterdam with daily events. Not even a month before that, they had massive pride events for pride month.
