No other browser came close.Updating to Windows 10, neither did Edge, neither EdgeHTML nor the Chrome reskin could compete with that.IE allowed people to browse the web on devices that had less RAM than a single tab of a modern browser uses nowadays.Its support for new web features was absolute fucking dogshit, though so I hated it for as long as it lived. And sure, in (((benchmarks))) it stank. Modern browsers excel in those by keeping multiple CPU cores busy compiling different versions of the JS and keeping them all in RAM which is a luxury IE didn't have.

I recall my grandpas computer in 2004 having 2 CD ROMs reading and burning CD at the same time copying music. It had some exotic features like checking disk integrity bit sectors, wiping the disk, etc.Windows 7 I think kind of killed it with native capability to burn quite easily, not really sure but i would just drag and drop my movies onto non-rewritable DVDs at some point. They were all garbage quality so when netflix came out I just threw those DVDs out, hours of burning, all trashed.

Also FF let you save a HTML instead of a MHTML This means that if you press CTRL+S on newgrounds you also can get into the folder and get the SWF flash files out to collect and play on your PC.The joke was you use IE to download FF and it was a essential part of the OS since without it you can not go on the internet.I liked to compere IE to the plastic spoons you get for free with a yogurt they work however are crap.

And for the last years while /f/ was alive it was constant reposing of old content and nothing new was made. It is more a shame how SWF was killed from the internet and /f/ was the last palace for SWF files to exist.Nothing can beat the compression a SWF file can get if you use some sprites or slides.
