Modern GPU capacitors are rated for like 10+ years. Heat and voltage are the number 1 degraders of components, solder itself will last like 7 years from extreme abuse but preventing your card from hitting extreme temperatures and then cooling will expand that lifespan. Every time you have seen a modern CPU/GPU in the news for extremely fast degradation it has been linked to extremely high voltages.

You can 100% extend a components lifespan by setting sensible voltage settings, undervolting, and disabling automated performance boosting features. You can extend the lifespan by years and prevent sudden rare failures

I get where you're coming from. I'm running a machine built in 2014 daily and I only swapped out the gpu once.
I did pay a bit extra for the motherboard, a rog maximus vii ranger, when I built it. And used corsair for the power supply and ram.
In hindsight, I should have upgraded two years ago but I never really had any problems with running anything.
If you want to keep a machine for the long run use high specs from good manufacturers.

well beyond the time your card is going to become obsolete. incidentally, this component sees the MOST benefit by undervolting compared to the rest. and it has a predictable lifespan!
running your card stock will already prevent it from hitting extreme temperatures, they start throttling around 85C. solder on the other hand doesn't benefit nearly as much as it's about power cycling rather than absolute temp. and as you said

Happens on the 9070 XT, but I won't buy another card because some RAM is supposed to run cooler. I have Hynix GDDR6. I would buy UDNA anyway if its affordable or RMA it in worst case. My 7900 XTX also had a fault, but it was fully refunded and I did get a really good deal to keep the performance with a cheaper and more efficient 9070.

My 5070 ti is undervolted, draws 20% less power and is ~10% overclocked at the same time. Funnily enough the undervolting keeps the temperatures lower, helps with the overclocking and keeps it from thermal throttling.

I tested it thoroughly and undervolting + memory oc on a 4070 made power draw go from 200W to 140W and fps from 100% to 97%, ie practically nothing

Supposedly, if I recall right, CPUs 32 nm or larger are immune to electromigration. So I wonder if it works the same way with GPUs. I undervolt my 9070 XT slightly but some games tend to crash with even a light UV so it depends. One solution I have found is to just not play games

undervolting is a form of "overclocking".
it's kind of a oxymoron and it's understandable that you are confused, and it's not that easy to actually understand.
In short, you get to choose the voltage that certain clock ranges operate on. Set a lower voltage, it uses less wattage but at the same performance.
The problem is that silicon is like a lootbox, some silicon chips can run at a lower voltage than others, even though it's the exact same chip. The better chips usually go into laptops/handhelds/datacenter because 10% or lower power usage is a massive deal, but what happens if ALL the chips run well at a lower voltage? Than means the desktop gamer chips get the same quality but it's locked to the a higher voltage because all GPU's should operate with the same parameters of the lowest grade silicon that passes.
So if you are lucky, you can try to lower the voltage and you might not find any issues.
I have a 1660 TI and I'm not lucky with an aggressive undervolt, it will just crash blender with a CUDA error (it probably would work, I just haven't messed around with lowering my clock which actually affects performance, that's probably why anon lost 6% of his fps, since he likely sacrificed a tiny bit of clock, but some people see massive FPS gains from undervolting due to the GPU being constantly thermal throttled AKA 80~ degrees but it depends on the GPU, hwinfo sensors usually has a flag when it's thermal throttled).
Note that if you undervolt, it will "seem" like the GPU works fine, maybe even "run" games, but you need to stress test it.
