>Upgraded from Galaxy Fold 5 to Fold 8 Wide>Fine, no S-pen any more but I haven't used that in so long>Holy shit it's so light and there is like no crease you can actually feel, amazing>WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT BLACK CIRCLE IN THE SCREEN>Apparently Samsung moved away from under-screen selfie cams a while back in favor of just having a fucking hole in the screen because better image quality.I have a low opinion of those are okay with a hole in the screen to take better pictures of their mugs. It's a bloody foldable, there's literally a good camera on a side with a screen and the thing supports it. Just turn it around and except half a screen if you need to video call or get good pictures so badly. This feels like the perfect excuse to not have selfie-cams at all if you ask me.Otherwise this thing is the shit but I do not get the obsession with extreme thinness and selfie-cams. If this thing were 1.5 times as wide but that meant it was cheaper and it had far better battery then why not? Are there really people willing to pay that much more and compromise on battery that hard for muh thin phone? It's useless anyway because the camerae stick out of it.
usecase for foldables?
>>1094558901. I don't know wtf you're talking about because you chose to post a picture of the other side, retard.2. Bitches love selfies. Taking that away and trying to make them awkwardly take selfies with the back cam is financial suicide.
>>109455899Bigger screen obviously.Though the new wide fold sort of comfortably allows reading comic books unfolded now too if you do it one page at the time but the bigger inner screen is much better, on a normal phone screen it's a really awkward experience.Same with browsing the internet, reading books and stuff.>>109455927The other side has it too. You know what I'm talking about. These are two phones, one has an under-the-screen-camera, the other has a hole in the screen, the difference is pretty obvious. The former is lower quality because it has to shoot through the screen but I don't get it on a fold, if you want super high quality stuff you turn it like in that picture and use the main camera on the back anyway which it fully supports. The target demographic for this thing doesn't even seem to be the selfie crowd. This is fairly expensive hardware and the entire sell of these unusual proportions is that it's better suited for fullscreen videos, which now have a black hole in it at the top.Would be cool if they also just made a version without selfie cams that was like cheaper, I feel many people would buy it, both because cheaper and because no bloody hole in the bloody screen.
>>109456019why would they make the more expensice feature cheaper to buy are you retarded
>>109455890Galaxy foid
>>109456058I'm saying do away with the selfie cams entirely as an option, that's far cheaper.
>>109455899I could not go back to a smaller screen
>>109455890>Paying more than 300 for a phoneYou deserve everything terrible
>>109456019>The target demographic for this thing doesn't even seem to be the selfie crowd. the only person with a foldable I know is my sister, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>109456471And is your sister part of the selfie-crowd?
>>109456477I guess not, at least not in front of others.
>>109456528Okay, then why bring up this individual with respect to this conversation.
>>109455899The main thing why smartphones have always been shit is the cramped screen that limits how much UI you can put on the screenThat's how the smartphone revolution meant dumbing down content for the masses
>>109455899draining more money out of retards' bank accounts
>>109455899For New Normal metrosexuals who don't have a PC and do all of their digital doings on a phone, including watching the movies.
>>109458487>Anon takes his personal computer on the train with him to work so he can comfortably read some documents to prepare a legal case. You people are honestly so silly.
>>109458661But am I wrong?
>>109455890
>>109458721You are in my case. I'd say I honestly have a rather impressive computer setup in more ways than one.I do not however take my impressive computer setup with me if I go somewhere, do you?Even at home, sometimes I just like to get into a lazy chair and read without distractions. rather than sit behind a desk.
>>109455890jesus holy christ how big is that dude's hand
>>109458864What would you have used before the foldable? And before the tablet? And before a phablet? Since when is your phone not doing all of those things already? Foldables aren't solving a problem but they do create further fragmentation.
>>109458936Books. I still remember reading physical books in public transport commuting from and to university. These books also cost me a lot of money. If I went to university nowadays they would no doubt just offer a digital version of the same book for less. My backpack was full of books every day and it was heavy, there's no need for that any more with modern technology. Also, I indeed had a tablet before I had a foldable, a foldable fits in one's pocket, which is nice.>Foldables aren't solving a problemThe screen is larger than a normal phone.I really don't get what is wrong with you people. There is a really obvious advantage, the screen is larger, that makes it more comfortable to read. It's really that simple and you're a bonā fide retard if you can't see that obvious reason, but you can, and you just emotionally, probably by association decided that you dislike foldables and are now trying really hard to search for a reason why it's supposedly not needed while the one, single, simple reason they exist is obvious.Such eBassisms.
can you watch movies on these things? is it nice
i'm thinking laying on your side in bed and just looking at the phone. no hands
Tried the Fold 8 today and honestly it's nicer than the taller foldable from Samsung. But paying 1.7k for a phone is just too much. My Fold 6 is still holding up fine, and I even replaced the inner screen protector for free today.
>>109459120You can watch movies on any phone, obviously the image is bigger. It's well big enough to make out anything and read the subtitles which isn';t always the case on a normal phone screen depending on subtitle size.>>109459165Yeah I would've stayed with my 5 too were it not for that I need to lose money for tax reasons.I was going to spend that money, the issue was just on what. I wanted to originally go with solar panels but my house is structurally really unfortunate for it.
