>>109459039I tried that when I was learning a language from a country I moved to 2.5y ago (so before duo enshitification via ai), but I found it to be next to useless compared to duo lingo. With duo I was able to achieve B2 in 2 months. With anki I did 0 learning in 2 weeks trying it. The problem is the quality of the card decks available, including the input, output, and synonym. For example duo will accept 5 ways to say the same thing even if it only taught you one way so far. It's the only tool that I know that does this. Ironically, the only hard part technologically should be speech recognition, and spoken exercises are, I feel, worthless before you've learned the language sufficiently well to utter the first few words. But there aren't enough voice prompt decks available and making your own is an extremely high cliff for beginner learning.I have no idea how I'd learn a language efficiently today. I think the best method left is textbooks, and they suck.

Update:This is a good example of why prompt adherence matters. I've been letting that run in the background and so far Nemotron is exhibiting signs of dangerous prompt in-adherence. Imagine if nemotron had been ordered to fire against a military target, ignored your direct command, and then shot a US Army airbase instead. Wouldn't that make you reconsider your choice of Nemotron?
