projects emerge from needs
figure out what would be actually useful to you (or someone else), then implement it
it has to be something you or someone else will actually use, though, and not some "challenge" or "exercise" written just for the sake of writing a program

No, I just have a command at the bottom of my .bashrc, for example I have an R script that has the books I'm currently reading, their first page of actual content and the last page of content, the start date and the date by which I want to be finished and it outputs it either as a table (as in Day 1: 12, Day 2: 24 etc) or the page I wanna finish today. Then I run `Rscript path/to/booksScript`. So whenever I open a terminal it hits me with how disappointed I should be in myself.

You claim you only spend 1/3 of your time here but i find it hard to believe when these arguments go on for HOURS. I guess you just cant be helped i only feel bad for the people you manage to bait and waste an hour or two of their time and making them angry. You are not a good person anon in case you thought so.

I get misattributed a lot.

Playing around with some basic orbit simulations. Trying to come up with something like boids, but for objects in orbit. Just applying thrust towards the common center of mass doesn't work well (play KSP if you doubt it). So I'm testing out different heuristics.

Or take this one for example.
I ain't got an earthly clue as to what the fuck this autismo was going off of; all I know is that I have a dedicated autism folder, and he ended up in it.

Why do you program at all if there isn't anything you want to make? for me I learned programming because there was things I wanted to make. It doesn't matter how hard the thing I wanted to make was, I just set that as a goal and got there step by step.

You already know the answer but I’ll write it anyway. Good portion of grads just went into this field because they want the rewards of it, they don’t care about the process itself, and that’s not even a bad thing for most stem majors. It’s not good, but not bad. Doing what people need to make businesses work in exchange for money, even if you don’t like what you’re working on, is normal and fine. It’s only here in programming now what with the 80% drop in entry level positions over 4 years that only the people who care are worth employing.
>>
>Doing what people need to make businesses work in exchange for money
Nah. Autists act out of conviction.

Just think about why "The Art of UNIX programming" is still as popular as it is today.
>>
Just pick up the paper.
>>
Sure. Just tell me where the paper is, and I will

>inb4 no more responses
>because even the autistic scum that deserves to be brutally, gleefully executed on national television understands what's going on here

You left it on the floor of the last thread, so might have to go double dumpster diving
>>
>no actual tangible address
C'mon, autist. You can do better.
Just tell me where it is, and I will

it.

>it is explicitly told why Rust sucks
>does it anyway
At this point there's no reason to let you contrarian autists survive. You never had any right to exist anyway, but especially not now.

Successfully tested both paths of my payment detection system for EVM from merchant registration to invoice creation and detection. All the webhooks registered properly, there was a minor deduping bug i caught but i fixed it. I also sketched the Ledgering.MD file, so now my next milestone will be sweeping architecture, and ledgering alongside it as they go hand in hand.

Jesus trying some encryption/cryptography stuff, wish me luck.

Where is web dev general?

Man, I wish the shit I was working on was as easy as this shit - i.e. using two passwords to get AES block orders to be randomized.

What are you working on?
>>
>>109476228
As I already said: encryption software that uses two passwords to encrypt data.
The way it works is that a Skein hash, encoded as a base128 string, together with a 256-byte block, is stored directly into an NTFS MFT entry, so that even if the scum of the Earth (i.e. law enforcement) manages to guess one password - guess what, since they don't know the order of the blocks all they have is the IV, and nothing more.
>>
>>109476247
My bet the decryption is a headache?
>>
>>109476278
Nah, that part is easy.
The thing that's a *real* headache is making sure the order in which the MFT entries are being created don't allow for a sidechannel. Yes, I have actually looked at MFT entry construction.
>>
>>109476290
Also, and here's the funny part, the fact that it uses base128 means loads of Chinese characters. Because it's LITERALLY base128. On a file system that uses UTF-16 internally.

>>109476324
Thats some weed stuff, i wish you luck too.

I was going to ask, "is that C++?" but no, it' almost as bad. It's Swift.
