I can't get my dual-boot Linux Mint + Windows PC to recognize a new Nvidia graphics card. I updated my motherboard to the latest BIOS and uninstalled the drivers for my old AMD graphics card, but neither of those worked. Thankfully, my CPU has integrated graphics, so I then ran lspci and DxDiag with the old and new cards, both with and without power, and with no card at all. The only results where a card was recognized were those of the old AMD card with power. This also aligns with the fact that the old card's fans spin on the GRUB and BIOS menus, but the new card's do not. Per a suggestion in a previous thread, I tried every DisplayPort and HDMI port with both OSes and the BIOS menu, but none provided a display. I also believe I have no overclocks configured. The way I see it, there are still 3 possibilities:1. My PSU is inadequate, but this doesn't make sense to me because the new card is listed as having a "Recommended PSU Wattage" of 550W, and my PSU is labeled as 600W2. There's something wrong with the PCI slot settings in the BIOS (or the PCI slot simply isn't compatible with the new card's bus)3. The new card is defectiveWhat should I try next?

>>109462715I'm just saying this as someone who has owned gaming laptops in the past. They cannot compare with PC's and are wildly overpriced for what they deliver in terms of performance. Yes, portability is a huge thing but the use case for them is incredibly niche. If you're away from home 9 months out of the year, ok, you may have a need to get one of these and can afford to replace them completely if they fail, but if you are just taking the odd holiday here or there and simply cannot live without the odd gaming sesh then bring your console. Or just get a "business" laptop for a fraction of the price that has an integrated gpu and play some older games until you can get back to your home desktop.

I'm looking for a new case for my build. I really liked my old Corsair 570X RGB but I'm passing this build off to someone else and it'd feel silly to buy a new case to put my old parts in and then use my old case for my new parts. Problem is my cat liked to jump up on top of the case. I've taken her off of it every time she does, but I can't guarantee she won't try when I am gone from the room. The 570X had tempered glass raised above the wire mesh. Twice (but fairly long in between) when she was on the desk the dumbass got her nail stuck in the speaker's hard mesh holes until I helped wiggle them out. It'd either end badly for her or for the PC or both if she tried that on top. It looks like the Corsair 5000X has that similar setup, but is there any others or just a case that doesn't just have the mesh out without any hard covering raised above it? Not a fan of RBG so Im not looking at corsair for that reason, and it feels over the top for my build (4070, 9800 X3D).

Isn't it a bit insane none of the memory makers saw the demand comingLike they didnt announce plans to increase supply until 6 months into the crisis or some shitWhat the fuck is going on in south korea. They must've had like increasingly desperate demand from ai datacenters since 2020

This phenomenon happened before and led to multiple bankruptcies.
Gonna be getting my pc back. Just gotta get it checked for a few more things hardware wise. Might just be monitor failure and different repair “experts” said different things. What sort of temperature differences can one expect from the same hardware in a typical mid tower case vs an M-Atx case say like the fractal meshify or north (non-XL) vs a lian Li A3?9070xt and a 9800x3d with a 360AIO and MSI B850MPOWER matx board. Will be using for productivity also so im concerned a smaller case will be too loud and won't have enough air volume for good thermals, but I want it to be semi transportable. My current PC has a custom loop with 960mm of radiator space and a gazillion fans so core/gpu hotspot never gets above 50c and its quiet but its a 115 liter case. I've never used air cooling or an aio before in my life so I don't know what to expect What's the thoughts on the cooler master masterframe 400? imagine owning tech you have to maintain. you're supposed to build a cheap pc so you don't even worry about having to clean it. i always laugh at people who own wireless peripherals. imagine having to charge your devices, lol. so much shit is a humiliation ritual and people don't even think twice about it.
>>109470584For the kernel just:>sudo apt update && sudo apt upgradeFor the GPU driver first check if it's available:>apt search nvidia-driver-580And then:>sudo apt install nvidia-driver-580-openMight be still Linux fault. I couldn't boot until I had Windows only on my disk while the 5060 was plugged in.
oled humiliation ritual
>>109471206cleaning is such a non-issue but yeah the charging is ridiculous, prefer wired any time
>>109471110>mystery liquid spray>think>cleaner residue>Its not my faultyou had several years of people discussing the qdoled coatingsyou mysterliquided it up instead of microfiber+moisture/water (which might still wipe off the smudging) (if not ethanol or whatever alcohol mix they recommend for wiping away fats)if the coating gets even worse and more fucked and no warranty/no nothing last out is peeling away the AR coating layer from the entire screen and it will be pristine glass behind it, but only last possible option>>109471140research and people's mistakes>>109471166they pretty much started using the same plastic shit almost that samsung already used on tvsnow they improved to coating and blacked shield
>>109471229>mystery liquidI bought a very expensive household cleaner spray that is marketed as being suitable for electronicsIt is not my fault your fragile technology requires babying, it is a known design flaw and you are a bootlicker for allowing technology companies to fuck you in the ass under the guise of "lol you didn't follow the instructions".
>>109471255>very expensive household cleaner sprayare you american by any chance?
>>109471297>retarded derrivation to name-callinggod I really should kill myself, death is better than living amongst you actual fucking morons
Hey guys, is $600 good for 64GB of DDR5 SODIMM right now? It's only 4800, so slow, but I'd like to upgrade my laptop's 16GB.
>>109471309do a flip
uh ohis there a ssd shortage now?
>>109471323eat my feces because its all you deserve to sustain yourself on
Are there any PSUs with GPU power delivery protection yet? Preferably with solutions that have been confirmed to work.
>>109468449buy it direct from nvidia? why go through 3rd party
>>109471255>household cleaner sprayeven worse, I thought it was screen cleaner at worse, thats even worse>you are a bootlickerI've been shitting on oled monitor manufacturers more than you can comprehend so cant be me>>109471311that ram is probably double here so>>109471366shortage? just price hikes>>109471408the msi beeping monitor shit
>>109471408the only two I know of are MSI MPG TS1300AI or TS1600AI and the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Enterprise that hasn't been released yet. Former uses USB and the MSI Software to monitor the pins and throttles the output, latter uses some seasonic software and bluetooth.
>>109471366>now
>>109471442>shortage? just price hikeslook at the order and ship datesIt's going to take almost a month to get this, which is pretty bad when it's sold/shipped by amazon directly (and I also have a distribution center less than 100 miles from my house)
Good news everyone, RAM allocations for 2027 are already sold out
>>109471442>even worse, I thought it was screen cleaner at worse, thats even worseIt is a screen cleaner.
>bro just gape your ass, swallow cum and jerk off an old man, its in your oled manual, god are you an idiot?
Distilled water and some microfiber cloth is plenty. Did your father never teach you how to take care of electronics?
>>109471559Did your father tell you to bend down, drop your pants and spread your asshole for chinese owned companies?
>>109471559>Son, I could teach you how to be charitable, how to invest in the stock market, but really, what is most important, is you use distilled water and a microfiber cloth to clean your poorly built chink monitor, and suck asian cock for the rest of your life
>>109471579
>>109471618What's this image, some autistic shit from a pussy beta?
>>109471498you don't need more than a microfiber and water stillor maybe the ethanol alcohol water mix or whatever they recommend>>109471541dont spray mystery liquids on stuffI have never needed to clean an lcd with more than a microfiber either>>109471541he didnt read the manual and avoided 2 years of oled discussions

>>109471559I use your mother's tongue to clean my monitor, works fine as well. Don't be a pussy.
>AUGH he did not recite the entire teachings of the babylons ten times over before even attempting to clean his oled monitor.... never gonna make it
>>109471671Actually the best way to clean your monitor is to bring over someone who fails to notice the difference between your OLED and his IPS monitor back home. The released spittle has good cleaning properties.
Fuck it, I got the RAM. 64GB of DDR5 for $670 with tax. Never have I felt so ripped off. Tell me I'm a retard.
>>109471445>>109471442I'll look into getting the MSI then. I doubt the Seasonic will be much better and I already have the dogshit MSI Center bloatware installed. Shame that I need to upgrade my otherwise fine PSU but I can't afford to lose my 4090 to Nvidia's remote kill command.
>Bought msi 5070ti because I saw it in store for 800€. >Internet Steves made me panic buy it>Get home, backplate is made of plastic, only three heat pipes >leddit calling it the worst model>thinking of returning it, but cheapest three slot model is 1200€>Jewing me for 0.50 cents on aluminium and shipping on an already overpriced product.I'll remember this msi
>>109471721Meh, it's $670, not $67,000. Just don't go out for dinner for a couple months.
>>109471740>>Jewing me>msiif you flip over the msi dragon logo and mirror flip it you will see the rubbing hand mercantit is known
