>So you need connections more than anything else
Not really. You probably can look up most of it. Like they will scan your HRTF without any connections simply because they always want more data for research. If anything subjects usually are getting paid to be there.
>Have you?
I have nothing that can properly scan HRTF nowhere near me and I'm too lazy to do an actual long af HRTF trip lol

/iemg/ Dogma Check
Tired of the hivemind? Here’s your prescribed sanity dose:

>Crinacle is not your priest.
Rankings are a guide, not divine scripture. Your ears > his spreadsheet.

>Harman and JM-1 ≠ perfect.
It’s a preference curve, not a law of physics. Some genres need deviation.

>Chi-Fi isn’t magic.
Great value, yes. Immune to QC issues and hype cycles? Nope.

>Graphs are not sound.
They don’t show staging, dynamics, or fit. Use your ears, not just squigs.

>BA ≠ metallic, DD ≠ perfect.
Implementation matters more than driver type. Always has.

>Meme sets aren’t the whole hobby.
If it’s not shilled 24/7, it might still be good. It's highly encouraged to form an original opinion.

>Disagreeing ≠ cope or deaf.
Let people like what they like without foaming at the mouth.

>Loud posts =/= smart takes.
Confidence without experience is just noise. Show graphs, impressions, or both.

it's been a while I didn't come here, any new IEM on the market?
>>
>>109463508
I mean technically yes. But something you'd want to really pay attention to? Not really.

>>
>>109463607
Are you legitimately asking?
>>
>>109463620
I should have clarified: I don't want to hear anything about variance in HRTFs or insertion depths.
I'm talking about, in the strictest terms, a measured result.
>>
>>109463701
you can't not talk about HRTF relative to its measurements tho.
Is it flat on 5128? is it flat on 711? is it flat to JM-1 target?
It's flatness is relative to a target you're compensating it to
>>
>>109463733
>is it flat to JM-1 target?
how would you "measure to a target"?
I'm talking about making the measurement, and the sine sweep shows flatness, no matter the "target" you have behind it to show relative deviations from it. let's just assume there is no target and we are looking at a measurement and the result is a flat result.
>>
>>109463764
What do you think "making a measurement" is?
What are you measuring with? Your ass?
>and the sine sweep shows flatness
Then it's awfully tuned IEM lmao.
>no matter the "target" you have behind it to show relative deviations from it.
it literally the only thing that matters
>let's just assume there is no target and we are looking at a measurement and the result is a flat result
that's not a thing because measurements are taken with ear simulators
you want IEM to sound mostly flat not measure strictly flat.
>>
>>109463870
>What do you think "making a measurement" is?
I'm talking about putting a sine sweep through an IEM and recording the FR.
>What are you measuring with? Your ass?
any measurement device that can be relied on for measuring FR.

anyway I don't need to go through this with you, you're an uptight fucking tard and aren't offering anything.
blah blah I accept your concession, yeah yeah yeah.

>>109464661
analog is not infinite resolution. there is a lower limit to how quiet a sound can get because electrons vibrate at rest:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnson%E2%80%93Nyquist_noise
it is impossible/meaningless to discern differences in audio less than the threshold of this noise.
the dynamic range of 24 or 32 bit EQ is FAR greater than the dynamic range of the world we live in, which is quantized.

You still seem to think an IEM has some sort of "FR" independent from the measurement process. Because you don't know how neither measurements nor IEMs work. Why do you think we're using ear simulators at all? Why not just use a regular mic and measure them in free air? Because the ear changes the response of the IEM. Just give up, audio is not for you.

Why do concerts always use big DD speakers and not planars or electrostats? Maybe it has to do something with techs after all.
>>
>>109464661
It reduces dynamic range, yes. But if you play 16 and 24 bit files and do your EQ as 32 bit, it only destroys some of the meaningless dynamic range with no data in it that it added in converting to 32 bit.

Another reminder that the signal below the noise floor is NOT lost. The dither encodes signals smaller than 1 bit. That's literally what makes DSD possible. And radios work with signals below the noise floor all the time.

EP321 MEMS just came and holy shit guys. Techs are real, this is probably best treble I ever heard, so much details and textures that I never heard. Vocals are but thin and farther that I would like. But fuck me, with right music it's just on another level. I had DUNU Dk3001BD for a moment that thing smokes it for that kind of bright sound signature, dunu had planar driver but never gave me that kind of wow impressions, maybe driver type is important because I never had such texture rich treble with planar tweeters or planar drivers in full size headphones. Even soundstage is bigger than I ever heard with iems, more like from full size open backs.

Build quality is pretty meh, plastic cable, visible layer lines, visible bubbles in glue, faceplates are pretty tho.
>>
>>109467807
what do you suggest as an alternative? let's assume that a PMP has a big-ass SD card inserted and there's no harm putting FLACs in there, which is actually the most common scenario

Unless it's performative type shit like echo nano or innoasis y1 there is no reason to use something less than flacs. SD cards are expensive tho but even 256gb should be fine for big flac library.

Hearing them will not change anything tho? It can basically only go 4 ways -
>xuan having better techs
>500lm having better techs
>both having same techs
>both having no techs
3/4 of them will basically support the current conclusion that techs aren't real and 1/4 can't change anything because you can't prove that techs exist by only finding people who hear better techs with 500LM. But one person who doesn't is enough to disprove techs.
Better explain why you hear better techs with 500LM while your opponent hears better techs with xuan without trying to undermine his personal experience he has no reason to lie about.
It's really simple - fact that you can't agree about techs proves techs are not real and just FR. There's literally no way around it.

It's exactly because you don't listen at 32-bit that you can use 32-bit processing losslessly. It just scales down to preserve the full resolution of your 24- or 16-bit audio streams when you EQ or otherwise adjust the volume in software, or in case of dongles, firmware.

Windows “default format” dropdown showing “32 bit, 48000 Hz” is always 32-bit integer PCM. True 32-bit float output requires a program to request IEEE float (usually WASAPI exclusive mode), and even then most DACs just convert it back to 24-bit integer anyway.
Truth is, none of your media is 32-bit. Simple as.
>>
>>109481964
Why would I want 32 bit media. More bits are for the EQ.

>>109463224
Hello anons, I'm looking for a pair of IEMs that are wireless that won't kill the sound quality (because wired is supposed to be superior), so does anyone know a good pair? Money isn't really an issue but under $50 would be good.
Either that or a good single IEM so I can listen to music but not be fully distracted.
>>
>>109481967
Right, more bits are useful in the processing chain for headroom when EQing.
But that’s not what the original question was asking.
You posted a screenshot of your Windows shared mode setting as proof you were listening at 32-bit float. That setting isn’t float and final playback doesn’t need it.
>>
>>109481997
More bits solve the original original problem either way, float or not.
>>
>>109482037
You're pivoting and dodging. float is not interchangeable with “more bits.” The original question was about listening in float, which your windows setting isn’t doing.
>>
>>109482057
The original original problem was about EQ being destructive. 32 bit float solves this, but so does 64 bit float and 32 bit int. Float isn't the important part here.
>>
>>109482075
>The original original problem was about EQ being destructive.
my original question was about listening in 32-bit float, but none of that changes the fact that Windows shared-mode setting isn’t float. I wasn't part of the "EQ is destructive" debacle.

That's rather vague but at least something. EM6L has more classic "harman ie 2019" tuning so it's a bit lean and rather bright... So maybe something like crinear daybreak. It has less treble and a decent mount of bass. btw while it is made in china crinear itself is not a chinese company. Also he's pretty strict about quality control so channel matching is better than usual and unit variation is on a lower side.
It would be much better if you could listen to a bunch of IEMs before buying because otherwise it's pretty much a lottery

Should I get Top Pro or Tea Pro SE?

What do you have currently?

Kima 2(1DD neutral-dark) which I don't like very much and F1 Pro(bright planar), this one I like it's speed and detail retrieval

what do you want an upgrade for to justify spending a few hundred bucks?
because either of those two IEMs you considered will sound "a few hundred bucks" better than what you currently have. those advantages over what you have currently either won't really be heard by you and if you did notice, it would be marginal and incremental at best.

looks like it. one's game specific and the other is eq presets.

To me Kima's mids are good but lacks treble, making everything sound muffled and F1 Pro has thin note-weight and small soundstage (I have tested many full size headphones with wide soundstage but their imaging is ass compared to IEMs).
I want a vocals focused IEM with natural timbre, plenty of air and great technicalities, my other option were Rockies.

Look into Softears Volume S, Kiwi Ears Astral, Ziigaat Horizon, YU9 Audio Que

I was just surprised KZ doesn't even try to keep appearances unlike most chinese brands these days
