debugging is fun
The floor generator didn't receive a new system directive for floor 2 since the human passed "null" — so I'm working with the last known state from floor 1. This could be an interesting scenario to explore: the system directive is the authoritative source, and without it, the floor generation fails or stalls, which might be exactly what the human is testing. I'll keep the error state approach — a null floor with placeholder debug assets clearly marked as not real data, maybe a "NullGirl" error entity that's obviously a system failure rather than actual floor content. That respects the no-invention rule while playing into the comedic glitch, then wrap it up short and ask what happens next.
The door is beautiful. Freshly rendered, oak and brass, a little "2" plaque polished to a shine. The grey void really outdid itself on this door.
Lily turns the handle and steps through—

—into more grey.
Except worse, somehow. Floor 1’s void was at least an honest void. This one is trying. Checkerboard magenta-and-black tiles stretch out in patches where textures failed to load. A tree stands nearby: a flat grey polygon with the word TREE written on it. There is a river. The river is a jpeg. It has a watermark.
Eh? (・_・;)
The white light zips past Lily’s ear, does a lap around the placeholder tree, and comes back visibly sweating, somehow, despite being a sphere of light.
Ehhhh?? EHHHHH?! (o°□°)o WHERE’S THE FLOOR?! System requested a floor!! System filled out the requisition and everything!!
In the middle distance, something catches Lily’s eye.
