So microsoft listened, if only retards in the linux space realized the same thing with snaps and flatpaks.

>>109467663The one that always confused me was the Magneto Optical Disk Drive. I mean shit, today it would have been superseded by the many iterations of NAND Flash memory formats we have put into memory cards, SSDs, NVME drives, etc. But probably until 2006-2007, I could have seen the usecase for it as a competition over the vastly inferior floppy format, and as an alternative to early gen flash disks.For one thing it was faster in throughput, and had higher capacity. You could get diskettes in sizes of 128MB to 2.3 GB and everything was backwards compatible as long as you had the newest drive, so your 2.3GB drive could read everything. It wrote at like, 500KB/s, which was like 10x the speed of the average floppy drive, and the Magneto Optical coating didn't randomly sputter out and lose your data. I think they caught on in places like Japan and Russia, but not in the USA. Maybe it was the costs?
