I already have a gaming PC and a monitor, but I'm also considering getting a Steam Deck to play on the bed or the couch. I liked playing on my Game Boy and PSP as a kid. Recently I started feeling that my PC is too much of a distraction while gaming, I tend to procrastinate by web browsing or watching porn instead of gaming for long hours. I considered getting a console at first but now I'm more inclined towards Steam Deck. My only second thought now is that whether its worth it for playing at home only? I don't spend too much time outside or at other people's places, and even when I do, I doubt I would bring my Deck.

Thoughts?

Just use your gaming PC and make an effort to not get distracted. Best of, make something instead of consuming.

I mostly use my Deck for web browsing and porn and you will too
Also gaming is a bigger waste of time than even web browsing. At least with the latter you might learn something

No. Get a retroid pocket 6 and use steam link for pc and emulate the rest

>Is Steam Deck worth buying
Yes, but not with current prices.
>only play from home
based, native couch and bed gaming on a hot summer day, without turning on your 3 monitors and 300w gpu.
>I already have a gaming PC and a monitor
With Gnu/Linux?
>play on the bed or the couch
exactly
>PC is too much of a distraction while gaming
trvke

kys

yes

welcome to /g/

trvke, this is man child behaviour

Yes, a deck is cool. Indie slop, oder AAA titles and emulation up to switch 1. But as you said, you already have a PC, you could simply stream to your Phone with a clamp controller. But it runs Gnu/Linux, so you should definitely get it. It's just hard to recommend for that price.

I would buy an android device for $200. steam shit is already running for arm.

it was if you had bought it a few years ago

What is the deck, a vr headset?

I wouldn't worry about electronics exploding unless you have been posting naughty things about the chosen people. In that case you should be worried about everything exploding in your face.

I only play it in bed. The biggest downside is how weak it is. You can stream from a gaming PC to the Deck, but the delay is noticeable. If you only play indie slop and old games, it doesn't matter, though.
Also, the games you want to play should be good with a controller. Blizzard made a whole new UI for D2R so console babies can play it, but I find the experience a lot worse than just playing it with a mouse and keyboard.

I think it's fine. Many anons ask about hardware and OP just mentioned gayming as use case. /g/ moves slower and you can get actual human replies on more text heavy threads, instead of getting ignored on /v/, unless you have a bait title or thirst trap OPic.

>>109472082
yes, i use it at various times. in bed while wife watches something same with on couch. etc
>>
>>109475537
I only use it at home. On the go a modded 2DS is more than enough for me and easier to replace/fix

Never going back anyway having to discuss on threads with low iq morons is exhausting...

Not at its current price no.
Also if you're only going to use it at home I'd say just get a cheaper android handheld you can stream to from your desktop PC.
I think the form factor is good, but the hardware is way underpowered for a main gaming device.

i used to have a 7 hour work layover where i had nothing to do, and for that, the steam deck was great. since then, i don't have the layover anymore, and i barely touch it except for the occasional game of rocket league
