Die Ubuntu. Die. Your death will be glorious.

Wouldn't it be better if everyone just consolidated into a few distros and focused all their energy on making those better instead of having a million autistic different ones?
>>
>>109473252
We did
Arch, debian, fedora
Most everything else is derivative of those

Ah shit the OS i'm using is actually on the list
Time to be casual and go play fifa or something

Like 2/3 of distros are just Debian in a wig

Ubuntu is the only distro that actually works and has decent support online.
Arch's "Update everything, all the time; nothing's ever stable!" approach is TERRIBLE when you want your computer to work.

Most programs today have just given up and launch everything in a container.
Letting users raw dog your program on whatever distro they want is a sure way to drown in unfixable bug reports and lose your sanity. Some autismos somewhere horrendously misconfigure their system to be incompatible with everything for no real reason and then they get mad at YOU that your program, which assumed basic POSIX behavior could be relied upon, doesn't work.

You're going to cancel anyone who says cancel?

It's true, though, this thread should be deleted.

I have. I've given it a chance like 3 times. Ended the same every time: I configured it, it worked well, everything was fine, Pacman -syu some weeks later, everything's fine, shut down for the day, turn computer back on next day -> black screen of "no info for you" on boot.

Fuck this shit.

Used arch linux with "breaks" for total of 3 years. Nothing like this happened. Don't get me wrong but it seems like a skill issue.

I thought so, too, which is why I've given it a chance two more times. I didn't even do anything crazy in the configuration. Left the bootloader configs alone. There was no good reason for the installs to blow up like that.
But it kept happening and at some point, I just gave up.
Still love the Arch Wiki. Even on Ubuntu, I consult it a lot.
