Fresh from the RAM cartel fucking consumers in the ass to feed Gigafaggot Sam Altman, motherboard manufacturers are feeling the pinch from higher component prices and reduced demand thanks to nobody wanting to build a PC at these RAM/SSD prices.

With the slowdown in PC builds/upgrades every part of a PC will increase in cost.

The reverberations of the RAM cartel slashing consumer supply get bigger every day.

only gaymers care
if you’re a corpo buying desktops prices don’t matter
if you’re a corpo buying servers you dgaf about consoomer motherboards, it’s all epyc (and also you probably roped due to ram prices already)
if you’re ai sloppa enthusiast you don’t use a consoomer mobo either since it’s 256gb ram max (realistically 128) which isnt enough unless you do a weird 128gb ram + 96gb vram build, but if you’re buying rtx 6000 mobo price is irrelevant

1) phone posting summer fag zoomies/alphies who don't even own a PC and are only proficient in iPhone

2) paid shills working for the AI/memory industry

3) corporate wagies who are idealistically and directly invested in capitalist ideals and gains

4) trolls who have fun pissing people off (often linked to #2)

5) people with a basic understanding of economics and the computer industry and say things like "free market," "competition," and "cycles" and really believe components will drop in price in a couple of years when the big 3 ram cartel return to supplying consumers with ram

not good. this is a "they're doing it, so we're doing it too" moment. every DIY pc component is going to be at least 2x in the coming year. all of them. not looking like a what if anymore, more like a certainty. after a couple of years of 50-100% price increases every quarter, they will go from "huge demand" to "not enough resources" what a shame

good for you, but AAA is not dying, it's in a period of decline. maybe that's a good thing maybe it isn't. i just hope that parts are still available at all. another five years and they could just stop production all together. probably doesn't matter to someone like yourself. just hope you have working spare parts.

>>
>>109474699
ok so to combat reduced demand theyre raising the floor
that makes as much sense as all the companies that make dram reducing production without any one of them stepping in to claim ground the other dram manufacturers are giving up
>>
The way I see it people will keep their electronics longer creating less E waste and companies will have to optimize their software to run on older hardware to make sales. I think it clear that hardware has not been the limiting factor for a while but software dev teams talent and abilities. It sucks but I can see some upsides. What I find annoying is the power usage going up on newer GPUs, they are simply using too much electricity. I would like to see a move towards efficiency for a better balance
>>
>>109475997
Correct. AAA will move to streaming only subscription services. Powerful personal hardware is dead—thin clients are the future.
>>
>>109476039
no. there is less supply (((supposedly))).
more demand because "expensive thing better"
and "oh no, fomo"
prices going up - that's true.
>>
I can be just as productive on my old Core 2 tower than on my latest machine. The only people whinging at the minute are AI/SD/LLM faggots and these cunts, like the gamers, need necking. Fuck, I think at this point I could probably still do my shit on an Amiga 1200.
>>
>>109476050
Yeah I had a good laugh about the power draw of a 5090
Get the fuck outta here with that shit
>>
>>109474699
Raise prices of a component with less demand? Why would people buy motherboards when there isn't enough RAM or storage to go around?
>>
>>109476053
this is most likely the scenario unless a miracle happens. probably on a five to ten year time frame. gaming subscription services are already live now. i think it's a saunter slog to the top. by then, there will be increased fiber optic infrastructure to the average residential service. once that is upgraded, availability on overpriced hardware could evaporate. hope i am wrong, but it's runamuck corporate greed and an elite global conspiracy.
>>
>>109476053
>>109476082
They tried this before and it didn't work. Id also note they are not currently not capable of making AAA games that gamers want anymore. Most people are playing games that are like 6+ years old
>>
>>109474699
>weak demand = price surge
so they're literary admitting price fixing then, right
>>
>>109474699
AI took away our affordable hardware.
Fuck AI. Stop giving money to AI companies.
>>
>>109476114
something about this time is different. the deals signed between the AI software and hardware companies are sort of unprecedented. most of the semiconductors are now paid for and sold to next gen AI datacenter hyperscalers. it's true, older games seem to be more popular, however, going by original release date alone isn't really a telling metric as most of those games are in active development during that time. (((they))) are aware of jevons paradox and are actively working to keep that reality from manifesting.
>>
>>109476160
of course, they have nothing to be worried about when it's the current policy of the super power states to "be the first at AI" they don't care about price fixing when it's a matter of national security. money printer go brrrrrt
>>
>>109474706
Trust us, you're going to love it.
>>
>>109476169
What new IPs have bore any fruit from recent AAA? They have failed to remake a 20yo halo game. Also I don't see the value of AI to the layman which would cause mass adoption. I would be willing to try a streaming only game, but I have not been able to find one. The DRM and anti-cheat is built into the game. There is a reason for the subscription, and the game should have very fast load times. I should be able to play within 30-35 seconds of launching the game. None of that will happen though. There is more data centers going up so I should be able to get a very good connection without having to move to Ashburn. Anyways, normies don't really like technology, and don't like using AI outside of asking simple questions to their phone.

Central banksters destroy the currencies but electronics are one of the few tings that get so much cheaper in real terms, that it compensates the currency devaluations. Artificial scarcities increase prices anyway, for instance RAM prices, but motherboard manufacturers don't use scarce components. Asus, Gigabyte and MSI just hope that you'll fall for it.

the reason electronics prices have declined over your lifetime is because the Chinese have been doing a world-class seminar on manufacturing efficiency. People don’t buy mobos because they have nothing to populate them with. Joe Poorfag who has no money to upgrade to am5 won’t suddenly decide to upgrade if mobo is $50 less. Josh Nonpoor who’s upgrading to am5 despite high prices won’t care about paying the $50 extra.
In short there’s no downside to raising prices, because they aren’t selling many more mobos even if they give them away at 50% discount.

How long will your hardware remain relevant? How long will your hardware physically hold up?
I'm thinking up doing a small upgrade, something a few years newer than my 2019 build, and putting my current one in storage. It's good enough for later if I were to blow off the dust and use it again in 10 years. What are you planning?

>How long will your hardware physically hold up?

>personal computers are only used by gamers
Boomers should be banned from voting and driving.
>>
>>109490123
The only reason you have computers or video games is boomers you insufferable twat, all your generation has created is worthless wankers making squeaking noises on youtube and tarts called influencers stuffling things up their arse on cams. Crap like capshit and instagram and reddit exists because it caters to (you) youa re the problem, you simulate a thirdworlder so well and are so obnoxious towards your own parents and grandparents that the only civilisational changing technology you can engage in is exchanging shit posts and ticktok dances with other simpletons your own age. You are a bigger dancing around a campfire waving a stick but your campfire is discord and your stick is your endless perpetual teenager whining the only good thing is didgital information is transient and in time there will be no trace or residue of your utterly failed generations existence. I mean you failed to compete econnomically with jeets, what does that say about vegtables like you?.

Guess I'll hold that extra x870e motherboard I was sent for just a little longer lol
>>
why would you possibly need new hardware anyways? don't tell me you use modern electron based apps, play AAA videogames, and use your PC to do stupid shit like attempt crypto mining or run local models? yikes!
>>
>>109484695
It's at least a two pronged attack, they're killing literacy among youth as well so they will be illiterate and computerless aka the two things that woke everyone up to the scams happening in every country over the whole world. It's crazy to me how knowing how to use a computer properly to free yourself of the bullshit consumer shackles is a niche skill. I may start teaching classes about it or something
>>
and niggas wonder why everyone wants to put literal socialists in power now
>>
>>109491265
We were on the right track until boomers decided to invent the smartphone and shill it to every retard and third worlder in the world. What th fuck happened unc? You thought this was gonna help everyone? Way to go you totally fucked it. BRAVO JOHNNY
>>
>>109474699
It was WAY too dangerous to let the goyim have computers that they have full control over. Who knows what evil things they might do.

The goy terminal needs only enough compute to connect to our data center and the trusted computing model makes sure that even that little compute can't execute an unapproved program.
>>
>>109493033
since when have lack of compute resources been an obstacle for sniffing ports and spamming malformed packets? I think the last time was the 90s? of course your idea of hacking probably requires an LLM so I can see where you might have got confused.
>>
>>109493033
they say this shit behind closed doors, frankly I wouldn't be surprised if they just started openly saying it. The information age has not been good for (((them)))
>>
>>109493053
wouldn't a retarded 4chan NEET be the most likely person to have an ill advised addiction to constant stimulation via licensed software, chasing crypto gainz, and spamming blacked AI edits? I don't understand what you're getting at.
>>
>>109493085
Honestly I just like having a local AI that will talk about historical events, conspiracy theories, religion etc without being a faggot bitch cry baby. I'm addicted to knowledge gooning and mainstream models are entirely, in every fucking way, useless for it.

you have been fooled by the power of statistical sampling. the moment you give up on doing your own research and properly validating it, you give up on not being a retarded piece of shit. remember that white boy.

Whatever happened to that lawsuit against the big 3? Sure the American Legal System will enforce morality and prevail as per usual... r-right?
>>
>>109493189
Not even sure what you're argument is. Maybe you assume I've been at this for 8 days and only use llms or something. You sound upset as well. I started this hobby like 20 years ago though, And I will continue it for another 20 until someone kills me or I die from our toxic shit hole known as the west.

if it weren't for the addiction to LLM horseshit you'd have no need for new hardware. it's not a complicated line of logic.

99.9% of any software you would ever realistically use for anything of genuine value can run on hardware from 10 years ago flawlessly
I built my first good system in 2017 with a gtx 1080 and 7700k for under $1000 and you quite literally don't need better except for gaming and only gaming
just don't buy anything, tell everyone to stop buying tech and let these jews burn when the bubble pops, they'll have to give shit away for free to ever get me back
I'll happily buy secondhand components from real people on ebay if needed

did you even read the image in the OP? it says PCB COMPONENTS. do you know what other electronic devices use components in their circuits?
>>
>>109475733
pc builders are the biggest consoom niggers on the planet. they NEED the newest, highest end parts the second they come out or their heads fucking explode. if you mention using hardware such as the 1080ti they will literally foam at the mouth like rabid animals and screech about how you NEED to upgrade for gay shit like dlss fake frame generation.
>>
>>109494120
Most PC builders have median 3yo parts if not older.
>>
>>109475779
>really believe components will drop in price in a couple of years
it has happened every single time in the history of pc parts. why would this be any different?
