How many times we have to go through this? The only time "wasted" on linux is frontloaded (learning curve and setup), after that it stays the fuck there never bothering you with shit. The only instances where this isn't true is when you PURPOSELY use a fucking DIY distro and, even then, you only get shit by using rolling release ones.

I decided to move on from Windows to UBENTO on my main PC and the installation took like 30 minutes. All the windows-exclusive software I use daily installed without a hassle through Wine, and it detected and mounted my NTFS drives without a problem.
Linux being a waste of time is just a maymay now.

Bullshit, settings for user applications are definitely not synced to the cloud. I doubt even AppData/Roaming content is synced to the cloud. Meanwhile, on Linux you can reinstall system or even install another distribution without formatting /home by just mounting it afterward, preserving ALL user settings.

I'm a full time Linux user since 2006, didn't even ever experience windows 7, 8, or 10, then in the last couple years i got a windows 11 laptop for work. It wouldn't sleep when i closed the lid, i had to do a bunch of Google searching to work out how to fix that. Then i fixed that, and then the wifi wouldn't come back after waking from sleep unless i went to the wifi settings and told it to reconnect myself, every time i opened the laptop to work.
Most of the time I'm using it, the fan spins like a hairdrier for half an hour at a time while installing updates in the background.
None of this has been a problem for me on Linux, stuff like this just works.

the whole extent of customization i do nowadays is silencing system sounds, making the font in the terminal smaller by default, and thats it.
and obviously installing/setting up my work environment, but thats c + makefile + scripts to deal with that and its always in flux
so its at the same time a customization but also work. iunno i could go with either
