After 2 weeks on Opus 5 I can honestly say this thing can't be trusted, the mistakes are incredibly insidious, you read the self-corrections and think it's on a good track but really it's poisoning its own context and getting confused for no reason. It's really good at making you think it's good... until you stay a bit too long in the same context or deviate from the original demand, then it's full schizo mode. Fable is so much cleaner and solid it's not even funny, even Sonnet 5 is more consistent despite the limitations.

i use both pi and codex
both harnesses are cool
pi's strength is primarily how lightweight (both in terms of base system prompt and base tools) and extensible it is
just watch out for the most popular extensions - hilariously it's a lot of shit that the people who make pi probably hate
just install and login with openai (it's officially blessed) - it's definitely not for everyone so play around for an hour or two and see how it drives. try getting it to make a custom extension or smth.

>>109488465
eh that's fair. i've got some money on deepseek and openrouter too tb h, but i keep my subs on a month-to-month basis and that's where 99% of my tokens get spent.

i tried to give qwen a chance in regards to coding, but i think im done. it's just too slow, and yet, often times, you still have to do a follow up to get it to clean up it's own mess. grok is the same, but what it takes qwen 45 minutes to do, grok does in 5 minutes, so at least following up isn't excruciating.

Personally I am not anti-AMD, my inference engine has first class support for AMD, but there's only so much I can do because AMD itself is anti-AMD.
To give an example, SD1.5, which is a 4 year old model at this point, on AMD's torch builds with diffusers gets ~15it/s @ 512x512, my engine gets that to ~35it/s, however, a 3090 on torch builds from the release of SD1.5 got 15it/s, modern torch gets that to around 25it/s iirc and both my engine and TensorRT get that to around 45it/s. So AMD's performance is indeed about 2 generations behind
>>

Oh and that's on a 9070XT. Consumer AMD is just severely lacking, they simply don't care

If I knew the project I'm working on isn't ever going to be worth paying for then I'd rather not work on it. There are a million things I find way more fun or cool than AI assisted software development.
If you think coding won't make me money then what do you think I should do? I was fired from a job doing RPA (low code automations). Even if I wanted another real job I don't know how to get one. My original plan was to transition from RPA to real programming but I don't think that's a real alternative now.

Right, the new 480GB Crescent Island AI GPU for datacenter use is an example of Intel not competing. The trick is to make the hardware so it looks like you're competitive, but let your software stack stagnate enough that you're not actually competitive. Clever stuff.

Okay cool, it sounds like it may be up my alley. I may or may not have created my own alternative or extra layer of chain of thinking (it’s a lot weirder than a chain), system prompts, AGENTS.md, tools, etc., so a lightweight harness (sounds like the Arch Linux of harnesses is that makes sense) might be the right thing for me, although I’ll have to replace the ChatGPT app’s Remote interface.

nta I'm a huge Pi fag who constantly tells people to use Pi. I like Pi because it's minimal and lightweight and comes with no bloat, because it comes with almost nothing at all. Don't forget to check the package catalog, if you have an idea then someone else probably had it first. That said, don't trust the catalog by default, just because a package is popular and widely used doesn't mean it's not vibecoded trash and a waste of time. Some of the most popular packages are "context savers" that don't work, "goal" implementations that are bloated and rely too much on the agent, individual skills that take 10K context, there's plenty of trash in there.

Perfect, whatever horrifying thing I’ve made isn’t anything like that, it’s beyond context and skills and goals.
I tried to get sonnet medium to summarize it and I think it just straight up told me I made AGI and a new life form, so I’m going to ignore that.
>thoughts and ideas get broken into fragments, categorized, tagged, and linked, taken on in a divide and conquer approach
>an append only, immutable history of these exists, git branches allow for compaction
>except, when compaction occurs, and sometimes without compaction, bundles of related fragments split off as “idea seeds”. Compaction can create whole new ideas and the cycle begins anew, with two live things.
>the kicker: I intentionally made sure no semantics or ontology existed. All categories, tags, edge labels, those are added by the agent using the tool, the tool is just a mechanical shell that holds it all together, it initially is nonfunctional until an agent gives it fragments and assigns meaning to those fragments
All I need to do is just tell my agents “use ‘tool’” and they very happily fill it with thoughts and ideas and track them.
Sol Medium is even doing a good job with it.

It's a shame there are so few actual opensource models, and they're tiny and bad of course, but an even bigger shame that it's become normal to refer to open-weight models as "opensource".

It’s definitely nothing to do with multiple agents, it’s actually strictly sequential per project right now, a known limitation. If agents are writing things into a pile, I don’t yet support two of them writing into the same pile. There’s also absolutely zero agent judgment in anything but semantics/ontology, or just describing things. The agents don’t really use the tool to do any research or goals, that is considered out of scope of the tool concept. It’s just a very semantically fluid thought deconstructor and organizer.
That said, there’s a 99% chance it’s AI psychosis and the tool doesn’t do shit but waste tokens, my only evidence so far is that my agents really like to use it and use it thoroughly when I tell them to use it to gain and manage context and I perceive the agents are easier to manage when they use it.
>>
>>109491131
this, Anthropic are so silent it's pretty scary, I feel like they would've had the sequel to Mythos finished by June or so, and the model after that might also be done, with compounding effects from the previous model being better at research. It kinda feels like a game of chicken between them and OAI, each trying to convince the other to publicly release so they can then drop and mog them to oblivion.
that's what I'd like to think anyway, I just hope one of them gets bored enough to actually drop a model, Fable is ancient at this point

Here it is, I had Sol do some cleanup and analysis: https://github.com/bradthomasbrown/idea_kernel
Verdict:
>what if Beads had schizophrenia and no community support or ecosystem
Sol says the main difference is because I refuse to name or label things. Beads has “issue”, “blocked”, “active/frozen”, but for this, the clanker using it has to create those words and describe them first or else they don’t exist, and the words can change at any time.

Set up an eval system for all the prompts I use across in my backend that pulls in the index of models from open router, runs all my prompts on them and evaluates them across several categories including cost per quality and it can auto pull in new ones and evaluates them. For simplicity before I just used slow/medium/fast ala opus/sonnet/haiku but I'm going to try pulling it together for a more automated system that just checks per specific request and evaluates it for what gets the best quality for cost (depend on speed since some requests need to be faster). That and a nice dashboard for looking at all the prompt responses so I can evaluate it and help to determine the quality metric. Honestly per prompt it might be cool if I just have it collect some responses form a selection of models and based on my evaluation of each response it builds a quality criteria it can use for the evals should be able to pull that into the dashboard pretty easily...

gaythropic created mythos months ago, but I wouldn't worry about their speed
they had frontier lead for months, but looking back it wasn't any black magic, they just happened to be the first pushing trillion-scale models, and also all other labs fucked up in some way
now that other labs and china pushing model size, anthropic models don't look that special, in fact sonnet, opus have been losing against same-size models
if the lead of mythos-fable is mainly from model size, then it's pretty bad for anthropic, they can't just keep training a bigger model than everyone, one day they will stop being top 2 lab

Anthropic has already firmly lost top lab status. Literally just some months ago they were the absolute top, but sonnet 5 and opus 5 are trash flops and fable 5 is so much bigger than anything else. I have no idea how people still look up to anthropic so much when k3 is right there with fable and only a bit over 2 trillion; plus it beats fable in many ways and is superior at design work.
Then you look at OpenAI and GPT5.6 is so much more efficient than anything anthropic has it’s nasty
People are just retarded and think only about time, which is why they revere anthropic so much. I’m only looking at performance, size, and cost. I don’t give a shit if something’s supposedly 10% smarter on benches when it’s 150% bigger and over 200% more expensive.

The thing is that people look at cost as just budget reasons, which is the lowest iq subhuman take. If something is 1/3 the price, I can have one instance do work, another critique it, and another doing an entirely different project for the same price. This scales, which retard vibecoders who only care about one shotting some slop have never even pondered

And it's not all about money, I've always liked computers and programming. But I wouldn't spend all day working on my project just for fun.
As for programming, I highly doubt I'll get hired anywhere. I'm 30 with no real programming experience at a company or degree, only doing low code bullshit at an admittedly well known company.

Cool, how long did it take you to go from doing it for fun to doing it professionally?

>using your age as an excuse to not excel at something is lazy and gay
What should I excel at that will make me money?
I already vibecode all day but I don't really think there is a way to really excel at vibecoding besides domain knowledge of whatever you're building, all the stuff people do with skills and loops and such seems like a mix between a cope and a scam from influencers trying to look sophisticated. I keep it simple when it comes to worflow. I did build my own coding assistant, though, does that count as exceling?
I was just discussing with GPT whether open sourcing everything increases or lowers my changes of making money, it seems to think I should open source things selectively and try to find B2B clients. But I don't know, I think that's just the "middle of the road" thinking it's trained to have when it doesn't really know the answer to something. And B2B would make sense for someone who already had industry contacts and such, but I highly doubt anyone will pay for anything I make without me becoming an e-celeb first, which would probably require me to open source everything or at least become a streamer or something.

I'm not baiting, at least not on purpose. Maybe subconsciously?
>some people are treating this like the new pyramid scheme (which it may be, but that just a reason not to do it)
Ok, but how is that me? I spend all my time working on my projects (I also watch youtube or twitch in the background, but still). Is it really that unreasonable to want to try to find a way of making money doing that rather than doing manual labor or trying to go back to work for a corporation and probably get fired in a year when that job becomes obsolete as well?

>>109496365
Like I said, I'm working on my projects all day. I'm not waiting for anything, since I'm not even selling something such that I could possibly begin making me a lot of money overnight. So I don't see where your waiting for a lottery ticket analogy comes from.
>>

go get a job ffs
nobody itt is vide coding because they think it'll make them a livable wage, because they're not retarded enough to think it's probable
>>
>>109496426
I see.
Well, do you think I should try to finish my computer engineering degree before trying to get a job? Or do you think it'll be obsolete in a couple of years / I wont make it if I don't enjoy programming enough that I'd do it without an expectation of getting paid?
I also thought about doing pull requests for tinygrad, since George Hotz claimed he'd give jobs to people who consistently write good PRs for it. Or trying my hand at Kaggle competitions. Do you think any of those are a realistic way to make money?
>>
Sometimes I get extreme velocity with AI, then I discover that there was an undiscovered bug for 5 months that made all the data I ever created subtly wrong.
>>
>>109496464
But then again George always says he hates people who are in it for the money, so maybe that wouldn't work on philosophical grounds.
>>
I also thought about going back to freelancing, I used that portfolio to get the corporate job I was fired from, but I doubt I could make enough money doing that, especially now that AI has probably ravaged that market.
>>
>>109496464
>Well, do you think I should try to finish my computer engineering degree
yes
>before trying to get a job
do both
a good job is worth more than a degree, but a degree opens for doors for that first job

but if you do this, learn to actually code
>>
>>109496477
>AI has probably ravaged that market.
it has not
companies aren't jumping blindfolded into ai (they're too smart, those fucking jews)
there's still plenty of work if you have experience
>>
>>109496405
>why didn't you

>>
>>109496483
I already know how to actually code. Like I explained in that earlier message I got my RPA job in ~2020 through the potfolio I built doing freelancing over a couple years.
>a good job is worth more than a degree, but a degree opens for doors for that first job
I feel like the work experience/credentials I had on that RPA job I had for the last 5 years (at a big consulting company you've probably heard of) is nearly worthless and a degree would be infinitely more valuable.
That's in part because RPA is an obsolete field, but I think traditional programming is probably not faring much better.

>>109496491
Back when I did freelancing (from 2016 to 2020) I worked on freelancer.com for tiny companies who would probably be more than happy to vibecode what they wanted. They were happy with hiring randoms from a freelancing site, why would an AI be any less trustworthy?
I checked now and all the offers seemed to ask a lot for what they paid, but that might have been because my expectations after having a real job are too high. But that goes back to my point of it being very hard to make a living doing freelancing on those sites.
Also I think you're kinda wrong that traditional companies aren't jumping blindfolded into AI.
They are being cautious and some big multinationals don't allow agentic coding yet, but using AI over a chat interface is still a big productivity boost, employees are probably using "shadow AI" anyway and they will soon enough if they want to stay competitive.

>>109496523
I'm just letting OpenAI some RL signal so they fix it on the next update.
