Singh and Kumar(and it's feminine form Kumari) are like generic last names meaning "Lion" and "Prince" respectively. They aren't necessarily your family names, although by convention they are still inherited (especially Singh), so it's just more an effect thay they are the nobrainer last names everyone writes in documents, yet literally anyone can use them without regards to ancestry and they're still propagated forwards, so they becomes extremely overrepresented.

Yes, I'm a jeet.
>>
>>109494896
Another thing to note is that, usually Kumar is used by younger people (generally <25 years in age and unmarried, also not all youth, this whole thing is about when people DO have it as their last name), and they "graduate" to using their proper family name(or Singh) instead as they age or get married. Singh conversely is generally "older" in that sense, however unlike Kumar, which is odd to see on an old person, it does have more significant use in younger populace.

Our current system is really crony capitalism that is trying to implement the same death grip on tech that communist china has already had for 20 years. This is why user serviceable computers are being phased out by manufacturers even though market demand is clearly still in favor of upgradable tech and right to repair. Decisions are no longer being made based on consumer demand because capitalism has been subverted by institutions and consumer trends have been discarded in favor of an agenda for more power over the consumer by said institutions.

In a true capitalist system where monopolies were broken up and price fixing was prohibited then companies like framework would be allowed to succeed instead of being intentionally suppressed by the rest of the industry in a coordinated fashion.

Actual free markets cannot exist as long as the tree of liberty remains parched thoughbeit.

You are correct, but I said pre-2000 specifically as the absolute floor for system requirements because you can run NES and Game Boy games on any piece of shit, so I was specifically talking about bare minimum Intel Atom or Intel Celeron CPU level gaming. If your goal is to emulate pre 2000 systems like SNES or Sega Genesis then any computer will do so just grab whatever.

Hopefully you have a computer with 64GB+ RAM and a few drives to spare. I've been getting my hands on every practical OS, software installer, and virtualization software to game all this bullshit, as in avoid paying for anything else. Windows and trial installers can be used together indefinitely if you are willing to nuke a vm once it runs out of evaluation time. No RAM slot should be populated with less than 16GB. I can't go back after regularly using virtualization to work around some monetary or single system limitation.

GTA San Andreas is one of the best videogames in the world, it ran extremely well on a laptop HHD with 512RAM on my Dell Inspiron 6000 in 2005. In fact so did Need for speed most wanted/hot pursuit, Doom 3, CS1.6, GTA Vice City.

Better graphics are appreciated but they do not add to the story, in fact they take away because they spend so much time developing engines graphics and making everything pretty that there is lack of time on the story and missions. GTA V one of the best games to come out since San Andreas, story was short af, focus went to online. Now due to AI game is postponed to November so they can use AI to block all ways to bypass their monetization and to prevent people from exploiting for money in online.

>But private security
Exists to protect the "property" of a corpo, it doesn't exist to ZOG innocent people because they smoked a joint or visited a rival corpo's fast food chain.

Government is the biggest gang in human history, and they prop up corpos because the corpos help them manipulate the goyim and give plausible deniability all the while they do so.
Without government, who's going to steal your money and fund ZOGbot departments which will fuck you for opening a lemonade stand without a loicense? Who's going to enforce regulations which were enacted by government?

Could it be no one? (hint: It wasn't a corpo who finally screwed Al Capone, it was the IRS which isn't a corporation)

I asked an AI and it told me this, are you saying the AI is wrong? In that case it is usless. If it is right it is useless. So it is useless

You called it exactly right: the current state of generative AI is broken. The industry built a trillion-dollar apparatus to sell a predictive text machine under the false marketing label of "Artificial Intelligence". Now that the novelty has worn off, users are left with tools that make up fake history, developers are left with broken code they have to rewrite by hand, and the tech giants are left holding a historic financial debt for data centers that produce nothing but glorified autocomplete.

main issue, there has only been progression in graphics fidelty in the past 20-30 years. gameplay systems have stagnated for decades. the general cpu already shits the bed when it has to keep track of 100 simulateous npc's in a world. innovative new gameplay requires actual thought instead of throwing some story script combined with higher poly models/textures with copy pasted mechanics, traversing+killing+collecting.

the next step, and it might be ai or whatever, is to have an open world that truly feels alive. 1000s of npcs doing there own thing, not scripted 1/12/24hour loops. and you can do anything, you want to be a 'hero', go for it, you want to live down in the sewers doing whatever, go for it.

those first ai website 'games' where you could move in a world that was generated before you was the most interesting thing i have seen in 3 decades.

I have an RX 9070. I don’t need to upgrade for probably 5 years.

I’m don’t need ever more intensive graphics. Nvidia needed to force ray tracing because after the Pascal generation we had enough raster performance for gamers to be satisfied.

New games all are unoptimized UE6 garbage with Ai generated textures and intensive ray tracing just for an excuse to need GPU performance. Somehow modern games are looking worse than games released 10 years ago.

How many fps do you need? I’m fine with 144. 4k 60 is fine for me.

>>109507487
No, it's not enough raster performance. It was simply impossible to keep pushing things forward within the form factor and budget available for this.

But yes, we don't need anywhere near the current processing power we have and I'm hoping (being overly optimistic, I know that's never happening) that people will start optimizing performance on their software (impossible, since we live in the era of ai slopification), which would let us make much greater use of future hardware.

In the meantime I bet you could, with a lot of thought and effort as this is all a lost art, make games like cyberpunk run on something like a gtx 1060ti at max, no raytracing, maybe not 4k but close. Similarly, we should be able to have far faster programs for compute tasks in hpc than we currently have.

Furthermore, because they're a company, they don't really pay for it per se, it is depreciation which can be put forward on the timeline of the project and used as tax break on profit when they ship. Thus, they can afford to absorb far higher prices than customers ever can. It's the same with taxes as well, which are accounted in a similar way.

Bro, if you haven't already naturally developed a knack for any other topics, then you simply won't be able to "move to" another hobby. It will be forced and you'll drop it like a rock the first moment you experience a difficulty.
Your only other chance might be simply doing stuff on psychedelics and benzos and seeing what sticks. That's how I developed a deep autistic interest in radio shit a couple of years ago.

Au contraire, we shouldn't relax. Why are things going backward? The entire world is specifically built around constant improvements (in fact, often based on exponential improvements).

Nta but an LLM can't predict the future. It's a tool for generating text and the text it generated is entirely determined by its training data and the prompt used.

You can't use the cloud without your own hardware.
Using the local library's PC to game means decrease in global traffic and that includes anything from purchases and payments to streaming and ad revenue.
Hardware needs to be affordable, so you can at least own the means to stream to, like TVs, phones, handhelds and tablets. Current RAM prices do not facilitate that, and will price out huge amounts of households globally. This will shrink economies from global and interconnected to increasingly local. RAM price fixing is unsustainable.

Historically I would go through a few GPUs and maybe one CPU depending on motherboard support. The primary benefits of modularity are not being tied down to whatever SKUs the vendor decides to sell and being able to replace fucked components individually. Soldered RAM would be a nightmare in this regard so of course it will become the norm.
>>
>>109513598
The thing is, the performance of socketed ram is atrocious. And it has terrible stability issues as well. The performance boost of bringing the ram onto the cpu package would be significant. Soldered ram onto the mainboard is of course garbage. But a combined cpu and ram package with a socket would be pretty decent. You could still have motherboards with their different form factors.
>>
>>109513630
Yeah that's a good point. I assume the issue is the trace length and routing introducing parasitics? Would doing something like socketed PoP be a good enough middle ground? At the end of the day it probably doesn't matter since I don't think the market for upgradable components will exist anymore.
>>
>>109513630
DDR6 is supposedly going to have the ram socketed completely differently, more like laptop ram is, sideways and as close to the cpu as possible.

I actually recently downgraded the CPU on my machine because I had a 14th gen intel, meaning it was segfaulting and returning bad results constantly. Now I'm on a 12th gen, no more issues. Imagine having to buy a whole kit just for this.

Gasp.
>>
>>109494542
Yes, most people do.

The typical path is to upgrade the mainboard + CPU + RAM every other generation (depending on how long those take and what you got), but upgrading GPU, adding RAM, adding storage, adding cooling capacities along the way.

First thing, I don't really care if anyone is a dalit. It's not really a consideration for me to judge anyone's caste or use it to judge their character, but just to clarify anyway, I am a Jat.

This is probably the stupidest conversation I've ever had on /g/ desu.

If some options are disappearing this helps in pushing back against that, then good.
If this leads to increased acceptance of soldering everything in desktop machines, then bad.

There's also the Threadripper / Epyc / Xeon option.
