The great debate
miguel switch
The one one the right looks like it's impossible to resist the temptation of balancing it in the middle.
>>109500851Both are cool
Neither because I'm white, but thanks anyway OP
Dimmer switch.
>>109500851I have both
>>109500851Switches are for boomers. Today we have Internet connected smart lights.
>>109500889>>109500897Trash, doesn't work with leds.
>>109500851Get with the times granpa.
The Home Assistant switch.
>>109500917botnet, enjoy the seizure mossad will give you retard.
>>109500913dimming LEDs exist and if you're too brown to figure out which ones they are you don't deserve the pleasure of dimming, also>using LEDs
>>109500926You passed the whiteness test.
US rocker switches are thoroughly retarded, thus toggle is the least stupid
>>109500851With a rocker switch you can't get pic related
>>109500851topologically speaking they are the same
>>109500962you're right but all toggle switches are retarded.
>>109500889We have an app for that now Gramps.
>>109501055But does he go erect when the light goes on or when it goes off?I think lights off = erect makes more sense.
where is the push button toggle switch for things with two sets of switches like at the bottom and top of stairs though
>>109501178>an appyou should read what I said again and again until your chimp brain finally catches up Rajeesh
>>109500851>>109500863I've never balanced the rocker switch once but I've balanced a toggle switch many many timesBut obviously the right answer here is a button and a correctly designed circuit. The switch's orientation is irrelevant if all you have to do is open your eyes to know that the lights are on/off.
>>109500913Doesn't matter, the only thing you need to brighten up is your skin colour, but no matter what you do, you will never be white and everyone will always know you're just another dumb nigger.
>>109501259Toggle switches are easier and faster to turn on in the dark because you can move your hand up in the general area where the switch is and you'll always hit the switch. Rocker switches or buttons require you to feel out exactly where the button is first before you can press it. So toggle switches are objectively the superior choice here.
>>109500863I can confirm I did that as a kid.
>>109500851I take the third position. Small rocker. Also, why are your rocker switches so huge.
>>109500851>screws visible on bothShitskin tier
>>109500851The toggle switch slaps my fingernail coming down and hurts.
>>109500851Decora / rocker style switches are better because they have more space for UI and electronics without having to use custom panels. There's so much shit you can get to go in those slots, like timers, dimmers, nightlights, Zigbee receivers, ...>>109500913I have several banks of LED down lights in my house on dimmers and they work great.
Other answers are wrong
Your switch only turns on the lights. Mine also fools God.
>>109501343>>109501325These are great for commercial buildings like an office. My house should not resemble an office or a hospital or a hotel lobby that is a Millennial disease.

>>109501368Brown hands typed this post
>>109501368By Allah women will ask for fried ice. You should be so lucky as to have the electric in your house built like a hospital.
>>109500851I can't reach out with a random object on or near my desk and use a rocker switch as easily. The object actually has to be long enough to depress the rocker, rather than just long enough catch the toggle. You also can't tie a string to a rocker.
>>109501395yo what the fuck, an EOL indicator? based?

>>109501209I was just trolling, relax. You use a remote control with physical buttons obviously.I have one with piezoelectric elements that generates its own power every time you press a button so you never have to switch the batteries.
>>109501499yeah that's the boomer remover button they keep talking about
I like this one the most, no annoying small light and you also hit it with 100% accuracy if it's pitch black because of muscle memory.
Alexa, turn my lights on.

Yurofuck switches rule.>low profile>large switch surface>can easily toggle it with your elbowThe US toggle switch is asinine and the US rocker switch looks like ass
>>109500936I love having infrared heaters on my ceiling !
Everyone step the fuck off.You cannot compete with perfection.Yes, they still make these. You can install them on any lighting circuit.
>>109507230good luck using these when youre using both your hands carrying something
>>109507035>using a double panel for a single switchwhat a waste of space and talk about ugly. The two switch one is fine but your hostility toward the us rocker design is simply misguided.I have had the US rocker switches since the late 90's basically my whole life, and they have done a great job and look great too.they are slim and low profile while being easy to use and find even in the dark. and there are so many options you can even fit three switches in a single panel if you so desire.

>>109501699Two of these broke in my house. Probably some chinkshit but maybe the design isnt as robust either?
>>109510370Not a single one of these broke in my house since I've moved in 17 years ago. Are you perhaps a great big smelly ape?
>>109510388Actually mine are more rectangle shaped and with rounded corners. They also have very little offset between the ON and OFF positions, which contributes IMHO to their fragility (they are easy to ‘balance’ in the middle if you fiddle a bit).I have one squared one like >>109507035 for my bathroom and it feels much more solid : audible click, bigger offset between ON and OFF, and harder to balance in the middle
>>109500913It does but not with an old transformer intended for incandescents
I replaced all the light switches on my house with picrel
>>109501190kek most people have sex with the lights on anon
>>109510625It's more a matter of the bulb. Manufacturers prefer to modify and use redundant componenets (it's better to have one big cap than 4 smaller ones for efficiency) directly in lightbulbs because it makes the swap as easy as unscrewing and screwing in a lightbulb. My dimmer is a simple PWM chopper and works with the dimmable phillips bulbs perfectly well.

>>109500851My last apartment had a rocker switch and the one in the main bedroom broke. Every other place i lived in had a toggle switch and never broke. So based on that, i gotta go with the trusty boomer toggle switch, instead of the (((modern))) hipster switch
>>109500851>Not using one of these bad boysSafe? No!Essential for reanimating your creation while you cry out "Igor! It's alive! Bwahahahahaha!"? Yes.
The Tapo/Kasa smart switches are aesthetic with the screwless plates, with a nice indicator in the dark versus the ugly old orange neon lights, but the spring-loaded button is not a true rocker toggle so sometimes you mispress or press it multiple times on accident. Optional dimmer buttons too.
