I've never balanced the rocker switch once but I've balanced a toggle switch many many times
But obviously the right answer here is a button and a correctly designed circuit.
The switch's orientation is irrelevant if all you have to do is open your eyes to know that the lights are on/off.
>>
>>109500913
Doesn't matter, the only thing you need to brighten up is your skin colour, but no matter what you do, you will never be white and everyone will always know you're just another dumb nigger.
>>
>>109501259
Toggle switches are easier and faster to turn on in the dark because you can move your hand up in the general area where the switch is and you'll always hit the switch. Rocker switches or buttons require you to feel out exactly where the button is first before you can press it. So toggle switches are objectively the superior choice here.

Decora / rocker style switches are better because they have more space for UI and electronics without having to use custom panels. There's so much shit you can get to go in those slots, like timers, dimmers, nightlights, Zigbee receivers, ...

I can't reach out with a random object on or near my desk and use a rocker switch as easily. The object actually has to be long enough to depress the rocker, rather than just long enough catch the toggle. You also can't tie a string to a rocker.

what a waste of space and talk about ugly. The two switch one is fine but your hostility toward the us rocker design is simply misguided.
I have had the US rocker switches since the late 90's basically my whole life, and they have done a great job and look great too.
they are slim and low profile while being easy to use and find even in the dark. and there are so many options you can even fit three switches in a single panel if you so desire.

Actually mine are more rectangle shaped and with rounded corners. They also have very little offset between the ON and OFF positions, which contributes IMHO to their fragility (they are easy to ‘balance’ in the middle if you fiddle a bit).
I have one squared one like >>109507035 for my bathroom and it feels much more solid : audible click, bigger offset between ON and OFF, and harder to balance in the middle

It's more a matter of the bulb. Manufacturers prefer to modify and use redundant componenets (it's better to have one big cap than 4 smaller ones for efficiency) directly in lightbulbs because it makes the swap as easy as unscrewing and screwing in a lightbulb.
My dimmer is a simple PWM chopper and works with the dimmable phillips bulbs perfectly well.

The Tapo/Kasa smart switches are aesthetic with the screwless plates, with a nice indicator in the dark versus the ugly old orange neon lights, but the spring-loaded button is not a true rocker toggle so sometimes you mispress or press it multiple times on accident. Optional dimmer buttons too.
