Now that it's been scientifically that AI creates jobs rather than destroying them, will luddites finally stop standing in the way of the next industrial revolution?
I think AI is great and writes great code if you use it properly. Most people don't use it properly, hence more shit code. The shitty code I've had to review the past few years - even shittier than the guys' own code.
>>109502411Computer science enrollments are down 35% People know white collar is dead
>>109502411It takes away jobs, while creating more unemployed retard "programmers"
>>109502411It didn’t kill jobs because it’s still too shit to do so. If you magically removed all LLMs from existence right now almost nothing would change. Vibecoders who fried their brains with them will complain about it for like half a year but they will adapt to the new normal and no productivity would be lost.People like to talk about AI taking jobs being marketing trick for AI companies, when in reality it’s the “AI will create more jobs” massaging that is 100x better for AI companies, because if their models are too dogshit to replace employees then you can just blame it on “AI creates jobs and efficiency” rather then admit your model is dogshit.
>>109502411Ah yes, the slop revolution. A vast industrial society making slop at an exponentially-increasing rate. A technological infrastructure of unfathomably bloated slopware that can only be maintained with ever larger LLMs. The future is bright. The future is slop.
>>109502411>will luddites finally stop standing in the way of the next industrial revolution?Listen you little shit, you've been warned that the way they're employing AI is a dead end, but all you seem to hear is "The luddites are coming to take everything away from me!"I'll explain it simply as I can. The only thing AI can generate on it's own is hallucinations. The reason for this is AI has no values of it's own. It an imagine infinite possibilities (based on what you feed into it) but it can't tell the good from the bad or even the truth from the lies with out a base set of values. What this means is AI currently at this time 100% dependent on humans to create new INPUT DATA while the OUTPUT DATA it generates acts like a poison towards the AI. You put all the humans out of a job and there won't be any new input data for the AI to feed upon and AI will slowly eat itself to death and die. There is 1 work around to this, and it seems China has been doing it long before AI, and now the silicon valley folks have figured it out too. If AI requires a steady stream of input data from human beings, one way is with total surveillance. China's been doing that for years before AI came onto the scene, and is why they'll have an upper hand. Now to compete we get the surveillance state panopticon, where the country mimics China in every way ..... or you slow the hell down, stop, look around a bit, reassess the situation, and invent a better way to do things.
>>109502521Vibecoders who fried their brains with LLMs will never be able to code on their own again. They were barely able to code before, only liberal use of stack overflow enabled them to be marginally productive, but SO is dead now so they're just fucked without AI doing their heavy lifting.
ah yes 3687367 clones of the same dogshit note taking app thank god for software builders
>>109502411slopware developers
>>109502411>will luddites finally stop standing in the wayAnd how exactly are those luddites standing in your way?How exactly are they stopping you from producing quality software? How exactly are they stopping you from earning good money?
I can attest to that. There are now more user stories and more tasks to tackle because AI has opened up a whole new field, and the higher-ups want to see it in action on the current infrastructure.
>>109502411Is it really a revolution if you have to change some bots diaper every five seconds?
>>109502624This is just as bad emotional investment as the fags who bought into "vibecode or you will get behind". You disagreed on a retarded promise that snake oil salesmen have for once provided a real product with real uses and now want retribution from it. No, it won't happen. SWEs using AI assisted programming will have to adapt once the money and subsidies runs out with just as little friction as you would have to adapt to coding agents. If they completely vibe coded, their companies were hiring sloppy programmers in the first place, if they plugged it in some thorough process in a serious company, they were babysitting it anyway.
>>109502624But the point still stands. AI didn’t take jobs not because of some inherit quality of AI creating more jobs then it automates, but instead because it’s not good enough. Also it was mostly a scheme to replace native workers with Indian workers. Microsoft fired 10k people every 3 months and then week later quietly hired 9k H1Bs.
>>109502633Note taking apps are so 2025, now it’s three.js shitty clones of videogames with LLM art assets (geometric shapes put together instead of vertexes with proper textures).
>>109502411Literally all this "AI positivity" articles that began to sweep all over the media since the last month are paid by NVIDIA, OpenAI and Anthropic. They are scared that the entire white collar economy is going to collapse and kill them all with it.
>>109502411I told you that shit from day 1.Next time better listen to me, faggots. It was so fucking obvious.More code, more retards, more hell. It was obvious from the fucking beginning
>>109502411I was hired in the typical startup that wants to apply LLMs to improve business processes, basically I got a job because of AI
>>109502411We don't hate AI, we hate you for using it wrong
>>109507086If businesses actually wanted to improve their processes they would have done so decades ago.
>>109502411>deluded technophilesIt is not the next industrial revolution you ignominious dolts. It is just next wave of automation but menial white collar labor are on the chopping block. It is repeating what personal computing and professional suites did back in the 1980s. They automated and reduced, legacy menial white collar and blue collar labor.
>>109506761Collapse? It is undergoing an long-overdue correction that started in 1980s but was halted by monetary and economic polices because they didn't want commies to win. Digital computing revolution was a temporary respite that should have ended when dot.com boom when bust. More momentary and economic shenanigans to delay the inevitable because silent generation and baby boomers didn't want to go bankrupt before retirement because their 401K portfolio and real estate assets would evaporate. Now, they are about to take dirtnaps in en mass. There's nothing to stop the correction this time. Their descendants are about to collect a very expensive tab. ML/AI insanity is the fiscal nuclear bomb waiting to go off.
>>109502411When will AI finally start improving software? It's been 4 years now and there has not been any performance or experience improvement in literally anything. Everything is still the same buggy and laggy webshit as it was in 2020, but marginally even worse.
>>109502411Programming is enjoyable and I get praise for having memorized so much over decades. Having ai tell you what to write is not fun and removes the barrier I have around me. I decent part of my job used to be explaining to less knowledgeable how to install dependencies, handle a common error message, build a project with cmake, start a docker, etc and have people treat me like a computer god. Why would I be happy ai gets my praise? But the real problem is the goal of ai is to remove the easy part of my job. Traditionally, I do hard things for a day or a couple days then spend a few days rapidly spitting out simple code, which is pleasant after a hard task. I don’t want my job to be 100% the hard part. It’s like when cars become ubiquitous. Yes there’s benefits but now I’m expected to drive places far from me instead of walking around to places within a couple miles. But I like to walk and now cities are designed for that to be a hobby you make extra time for instead of a pleasant requirement of life
The MBAbros who were gleefully bragging about putting hundreds of millions out of work suddenly realized that having hundreds of millions blaming them for eliminating their livelihood might actually put them in physical danger so now they're trying to put the shit genie back in the bottle. Now they're going to come up with endless inane articles about how AI is going to make everyone rich, with a life of effortless luxury.
AI is great and they were always falling for fear mongering from leftists who hate it because they think its a Elon Musk plot or whatever
are these "developers" capable of reviewing and understanding the code they generate?
>>109508329>Whining about leftists>Bringing up Elon MuskThis is your brain on AI
>>109508329who do leftists (who hate elon musk who is based actually also trad and even redpilled) also hate being gay with there own dad?
>>109502411>>109502427>>109502521>>109502590>>109502972>>109507433>>109507985>>109508126>>109508429You need to read the fine print and follow the paper trail. While AI did not reduce jobs, they did mass layoffs across the Western world while doing hiring sprees in India.
