The 12 days was nice and I seem to remember there was a day or two last year that was suitably tricky.
AoC would be a lot better if the puzzles were just real problems in disguise, like elf-code, instead of a week's worth of interview questions followed by tricksy maths gimmicks.

nope. I did it two times, and always got filtered. it's sold as this comfy christmas event, but in reality it's a grueling and miserable experience if you are a brainlet with poor knowledge of CS. to say I didn't enjoy it would be an understatement.

Meh. I never cared about the leaderboard but it was an interesting way to exercise my coding chops during the start of winter. I'll admit I always got filtered around day twenty and just stopped caring. The last two years I stopped caring around day five. The puzzles weren't hard, they were just... meh.
Maybe if someone comes up with a challenge similar to AoC but that is explicitly designed for use with LLMs. Make the puzzles things LLMs will have difficulty with so the human has to figure out how to leverage the LLM while being able to have it do all the work. Bar trivia adapted to smart phones by having questions that aren't easy to look up online, AoC should do the same.

That is what I am realizing sadly. I will probably still do it, but not sure how much I will participate with others this year. Just solve it alone. The comfiness was sharing solutions and stuff in the threads though so I will miss that.

don't really care about /g/ turnout, but i honestly like that it's only 12 days, that's about when i get burnt out on the whole thing most years. just wish it was an "every other day" set up so it could stretch til christmas, having it end abruptly on december 12 was a bit anti climactic. but i guess attrition would probably be worse since people would fall out of the daily routine more easily

i thought the threads were fine last year, but i only really check them from like 30 minutes before puzzle drop until like an hour or two after it drops and i go to bed. i know some people are the opposite and don't wake up until like 4 hours after puzzle drop and then expect to be able to have 12 hours of discussion after that, but imo the threads were never that great for that shit
