For the longest time I've dreamed of having a laptop company. I'd manufacture a laptop similar to the Thinkpad T420s or X301 but with a modern ARM SoC, modern ports, and a 3:2 OLED panel. It would be a very limited manufacture product, only about 4000-5000 units a year. CNC machined chassis, powder coated dark grey with metallic flake. $2500 for a 32GB RAM, 2Tb disk model. Only two keyboard options, ANSI US keyboard or ISO international English. Ships without operating system.I'd run a TV ad in select markets, it would be very perplexing for the average normie. A grainy white-and-black video montage of a young brunette using the laptop in various outdoor settings. The ad's background music would be Debussy's piano piece Reflets dans l'eau. Middle of the woods, abandoned industrial park, by the beach. Nobody is ever visible in the ads except the girl. Suddenly in one shot the laptop is just left in a curb. Image zooms into the screen "What will you use me for?". As soon the preorders for that particular year have run out, I'd stop running the ad.

and modular laptops are paradoxical, from an economical standpoint. they're desired by poorfags because they cannot afford full laptop price, but your shit is more expensive than a regular laptop, so poorfags wont't get onboard no matter what. now they have modular "cheap" upgrades but they cannot afford to get on board in the first place lmao.so the modular thing is still geared towards the middle class of laptop consumers, and even there it takes some convincing to pay the upfront tax vs what they get as performance.it's like no identity atm, the modularity thing. the best fit for modularity, and what it would guarantee carrying it in the future, is being needed to maintain keeping a good fucking object. you pay more but you have that good shit. imagine a T440p with 100W TDP CPU, and a 5090 with 32GB of VRAM, and whatever oled 4k shit thing hdr whatever. holy shit

Choose 1 of a) Put that shit either on patreon or your website with a preorder list, market the shit out of it to raise seed funds or b) use a waiting list (no preorder payments) and show the large amount of people registered to investors to raise seed. The two techniques can be combined, having a large amount of people paying you for nothing is a strong investment signal.Step 3. Hire a team and make it happen.
