>>109536684The USB-C specification is a mess. A fuck up with the PD protocol chip can fry your device. And then you have Thunderbolt which pretty much exposes your computer's PCI bus on a wire. I mean I don't hate Thunderbolt, it's about as fast as Infiniband was 15 years ago, and it definitely has is applications (in prosumer grade computing).You kind of have to assume it 100% works, or else. This obviously means you're going to be spending 2x-3x more per cable because of how complicated it is.
Oh, and the best part is that these "wires" are really just computers in and of themselves. USB-C wires have a microcontroller in them, and it almost makes them snoop-capable. All you need is a slight modification to the microcontroller in the wire, and an antenna and you have a glorified radio-antenna keylogger (and now everyone gets to have one!)
