What are /g/s thoughts on CopyParty?https://github.com/9001/copypartyMaking your own file server api/ui in the past seemed to be ritual all programmers did. But now with CopyParty, I'm not sure that's necessary anymoreMy thoughts are it's a little jank feeling, but it works. The releases have been focusing on security lately, which is also reassuring.

It's really cool and low effort to use. Been running it for years. One could say it has too many features even and is a little bloated but most is optional and it runs well on low-end hardware. Before I got an actual modern day server PC I used to run it on age old crapware with Intel Atom CPU and 1 GB RAM without issues (the only thing that was really slow was thumbnailing so I turned that off but otherwise it ran just fine for a small group of users).
Should I use this or navidrome for music

i found copyparty and used it in a pinch because my other rootless no dependency oneliner for hosting shit with upload stopped working and it was just a python script.it's ok and performant for serving files with resume, and supports basic auth. that's all I care about now. all the extra features are kinda neat but I don't find myself using them and the emoji heavy interface rubs me the wrong wayat the time I needed the upload feature, not anymore so I'll probably replace it
Is there anything like volafile? I want to create a room, link it to people, and upload a ton of shit temporarily.The use case is that I'm running out of hard drive space so I'm going to delete a bunch of shit but I don't know if anyone else wants it first and I don't want to coordinate it, I just want to dump and delete.
>>109537012The file server of last resort, and that's mostly a compliment. Runs on ancient shitboxes no problem and just about anything can access it. Has a lot of neat features, and setup is near instant. On the other hand, every feature is jank and it's not really the best at any one task. Something to keep around for the times you need to transfer files to a 15 year old e-reader, or whip up an ad hoc file server for a LAN party.
