i want to get a laptop ready for university because it starts soon for me. my only laptop is kind of shitty though and i dont want it to have windows 11. the problem is: im a retard and ive only ever used windows. im ready to make the jump to something else, but what is a beginning friendly option?

>>109539989I started with unix through Mac OS. Depending on your needs you can try one of Apple's "low cost" (definitely not as expensive as their other stuff though) laptops. They will generally be better build quality than any other brand. Otherwise you could try Linux on like an XPS or something, but only if you're reasonably technologically inclined. Linux is way easier than it was, but it's still more complicated than Windows.

But Windows just werks the most if you're used to it. Personally I'm highly technical, very good with linux and use both it and MacOS daily at work (Windows at home), but just keeping it real with you that Windows is a fine choice
