I just switched for the first time in my life to Ubuntu from Windows 11And I tell ya it's comfy as heck, why dont more people use linux like a normal person?
Linux doesn't have the pro software I need.

As much as I want to. Linux still doesn't have a video editing software that's as easy and braindead to use as Vegas.

>>109570032At least you tried it. That's the usual path though... hit some annoyances that aren't worth it. At least install W10 IoT LTSC it's a much better experience.
>>109570147>hit some annoyances that aren't worth itwindows is a massive annoyance not worth it
>>109570573Yes, but it's predictable, and you're not going to run in to a dead end trying to get a program you need to work or an old VN or something. I'm not for a second saying Windows is good, and if you don't have specific programs that don't work there's little reason to use it.
>>109557337>why dont more people use linuxI'm a Linux user, but as an exercise in empathy, I could come up with several reasons why.First of all, if you've been using Windows your whole life, then there's a bit of a learning curve when switching Linux. Particularly when it comes to installing software and navigating the system. The fact that it's different creates a barrier to entry. I'm a lazy fuck, so if I wasn't forced to learn about Linux in the context of server administration in uni, I probably wouldn't have made the switch myself just for that one reason.Another reason is that there's a bunch of proprietary software that people want to/have to use that's not available on Linux. For example, several Adobe and Microsoft Office products. I myself really like Visual Studio for programming using languages that require manual memory management, and that IDE is not available on Linux. The third reason is the option paralysis when it comes to choosing a distro. There's a shit ton of them and it seems like every couple of years some new project pops up that everyone says is the best for your particular use case. It can be intimidating to commit to something. The fourth reason is gaming. While gaming on Linux has come a long way, it's still possible to run into problems that you wouldn't encounter on Windows. Also, many competitive multiplayer games use kernel-level anti-cheating software. Many of those specific games are straight up unplayable on Linux. There are many more reasons, but I believe I touched on some of the more common ones.
>>109557349That sort of thing is why I run a variety of OS. Windows is effectively free, too. I've mainlined Linux since Mandrake but sometimes Windows or DOS etc are useful and my PCs exist to serve me. The greater the variety the more I learned and still do. Distrohopping and having multiple OS and OS versions is easy as there are so many ways to go. I never "switched" because I "add" instead. That way there is no urgency if any one computer or install shits the bed.Instead of trapping myself with only one notebook or desktop which is severely limiting also chose to accumulate a variety of PC so I get more choices with very little effort. Computers are far too necessary and generally useful to own just one. They take very little space (I'll get to that since so many Anons fill their desk or table top inefficiently) and learning how to work on them is trivial (and the first thing noobs should do after learning basic use). I have or do:Run my desktop with hard drive swap racks (each OS to its own but they can share storage without effort).Run multiple desktops from a single set of keyboard, mouse and keyboard and speakers.Run multiple desktops and notebooks both at various rooms (to avoid carrying hardware while having each even more conveniently at hand) and my home machine/welding shop where I store preloaded backup and vintage hardware.Enjoyed many VMs, also a way to run Windows 11 as a guest on supposedly unsuitable hardware.Hung PCs from walls with a dollar's worth of lag hooks for zero footprint (ideal for servers) and so I could cover them with framed Pepes or whatever. Some hang notebooks and this spring I'll do that too. Kept notebooks and printers on a rolling plastic cart (light, kind to wood work), easily moved for cleaning.I also have a RAM vehicle mount for my X200 bolted to the printer cart.
>>109557337>I just switched for the first time in my life to Ubuntu from Windows 11Same
>>109570766All perfectly valid for single machine owners, but any gayming or other powerful hardware can support any or many VM, or boot multiple hard drives externally if not internally.Ability to run multiple OS means if an updoot smegs your Windows install you can immediately or nearly so run another Windows install. On any machine I like I image the boot drive for fast recovery even in event of hard drive failure since all my machines have removable RAM and storage. I'm extremely lazy so set and forget overkill works nicely. It's easy to make VM of Windows drives. I've not needed more than old Disk2vhd.VM gaming has some performance penalty but many Anons use their Windows box for more than that. They can also go V2P to clone VM to bare metal. Gayming is far more detailed than merely installing and using an OS and itself can be regarded as a game because surmounting challenge is the reward in both. At least one extra PC or swappable hard drive removes any stress from distro hopping. That's why my first cheap eMachine Celeron in 2000 got a cheap swap rack and another for the second tray. Fuck downtime when ya can experiment and learn with zero risk. That method ends option paralysis since users can boot whatever including multiple Windows versions (for example for retro gaming). Live booting doesn't just work with USB fobs. I've dumped multiple live .isos on a Ventoyed spare SSD without issue.Live booting is also a great way to sample WinPE/RE/etc live Windows toolkit versions. No need to learn it all at once. Games are far more complex.
>>109557350Others have that problem. I just googled "LG gram very slow to boot linux" and that seems common.https://github.com/DionKill/lg-gram-linux may help.https://artofcode.wordpress.com/2020/01/26/very-slow-boot-loading-in-linux-mint/#:~:text=It%20was%20the%20GRUB%20boot,time%2C%20usually%20below%2010%20seconds.
