>Apple brings the hardware and a giant market of potential new gamers
>Valve brings Proton
Perfect marriage desu.

Unfortunately apple users are unable to comprehend anything more complex than bejeweled hence no steam on apple's paperweight hardware.
>>
Valve would rather have a monopoly and closed ecosystem on linux than provide support for their 2nd biggest userbase which is MacOS
>>
>>10955800
what are you talking about schizo? I have steam installed on my Mac
>>

>copium induced hallucination
Many such cases
Your case seems quite severe there, I think you need to buy a new iPhone, since yours is already more than two months old.
>>
No vulkan, no OSJeet support.
no, i'm not using moltenVK
>>
>>109558010
Isn't valve being sued right now for yet again arguably illegal anticompetitive tactics?
I can't believe so many PC gamers actually worship this company and think it's such a great consumer friendly thing. These wankers literally have exclusivity deals that say
>You cannot offer your game cheaper anywhere else than it is on steam, by the way, we take a 30% cut.

They have to offer it for that 30% extra price on their own website or it can't be on steam and that's why they're being sued. That's antitrust if I ever saw it.
>>
>>109558010
Honestly, I'd love to see that. I'm on Linux/Droid, but the Windows (gayming) market domination has to end. MacOS got a few cool native ports, but it seems like Apple absolutely hates every damn translation layer or anything they down own/control. It's a shame, because the crossover devs are turbo talented.
>>
From the time I used MacOS I honestly liked it way better than windows. If it could support games and mods like windows does, and had decent gaming hardware that wasn't 20k I would have switched long ago.
>>
>>109558010
Apple and Valve are pretty much polar opposites in terms of internal company philosophy.
>>
>>109559912
If you interpreted my statement as "Valve is good" that's on you.

>worship
it's more like any alternative will become hellish after a while. going public, so the leeches come in to suck it dry. montly subscription to access your already paid library would be on the table.

and let's be crystal clear here, the ones attacking valve are not doing it to 'save the gamers, or save the studios'. if you truly believe this, you need more experience in your life.

Small problem, macos only supports proprietary macos graphics API. More people work with vulkan than metal.
>>
>>109560634
Yeah but in this proposition they would solve this.
>>
>>109558010
Apple would not want to buy Steam's userbase. There is no great crossover or chance to cross-sell those customers on apple products.
>>
>>109558089
even if you exclude steamos there are more linux user than mac users on steam
>>
>>109558010
Is the giant market of 5 people in the room with us right now, appletard? As for the hardware, that's even more laughable. Shitty olpc laptops from 15 years ago are better than the most beefy macshits today.

Apploo's GPUs are hot garbage. They barely compete with a 3050 from a decade ago.

>sell on own website
>take 30% for yourself
What's the problem? by the way the rules are fake and gay games are ALWAYS SOLD CHEAPER ON THIRD PARTY WEBSITES.
>>
>>109560875
For what purpose? It gives them nothing to do so. In any case, the same corporation that works on Proton is working on translation software for Mac. They probably aren't funded by Valve to do it though.
>>
>>109558010
>>109562580
Proton doesn’t work in Mac that’s why people are buying codewavers. Stop with the propaganda.
>>
>>109562569
The issue isn't the cut, that's not anticompetitive but that they don't allow games to be sold for cheaper on other platforms.
You say it's fake but there's currently a court case going on that's establishing otherwise.

>>109560602
Doesn't change that Valve isn't the holy not-evil corporation that so many gamers like to believe it is.
They just with successful marketing managed to convince them of that.
>>
>>109558010
Yes, hardware you dont own combined with software you dont own. Perfect.
>>
>>109558010
Apple and Valve were working together years ago, but suddenly stopped, some people think that Apple poached Valve engineers to work on the Vision Pro project since there was a lot of talk about Apple supporting VR at the time.
So Valve basically leave Apple on legacy mode only supporting existing products, and even then not creating 64bit versions for their old games.
>>
#outofsteam
Uninstall steam.
Embrace GOG or Epic, or just pirate games.
Don't give Gabon another cent.
>>
>>109563665
apple left themselves there, they're killing rosetta and refuse to adopt industry standard APIs
if they supported vulkan they could benefit from everything valve is currently pushing
>>
>>109562087
Now who is the CEO of Google and it's android division leaders all come from where? Take your meds.

Valve doesn't allow people to sell steam keys for a lower price elsewhere. That's something entirely different.
You can make your game cheaper on your own website.

>holy not-evil
no company is.
but valve has demonstrated over decades, that it does not mistreat gamers in general. it could have done many things to increase its revenue even more or bow down to lawsuits.

the only ones attacking steam are the ones that want to be steam.

the hilarious part being that sony is moving away from physical media, while having a mandatory fee to play online. not to mention, expensive prices, games locked to specific gens and games locked to a resolution so you get forced shitty 30fps performance.

the only thing i miss from consoles is the low-threshold messaging, getting salty hatemail after i completely destroyed someone will never not be funny.
