Hardware part is understandable. Now the fun software.
There is chink oppo agent which refuses to connect despite all other services show up as connected to oppo acc I just made (from eu). The actual chatbot doesn't like me it seems. There is also weird shit that the integrated features such as picture recognition gives me chink rune prompt despite language and half of the setting text being in english. Funny enough it also has translator so you can copy text and translate it right away. Compared to lens it's still kinda odd. You still can use lens but it's one extra click.
Translator and text recognition work well. Other AI shit is gimmicky and I don't think it has any real use be it chink rom or global, you use it once and you never touch it again
Getting scribble to work with gboard was a challenge but I managed it which is good since it was taken over by chink keyboard which also has English option but it was very shitty. Now it's cool that I can actually use the pen for something.
Finally, one thing that it lacks as all mobile phones lack at the moment is what I want from it in word - I want to be able to write equation as it looks and it will make me a formula in word how it looks. I'm gonna figure out a workaround. If this shit is fixed I don't think I will even need my work pc at this point

When blackview updated with the smartart map, it started doing "live wallpaper updates" which are alerts on the phone for random news articles. It does about 8-10 articles a day. It cannot be turned off. The notifications are forced enabled and you cannot remove sound from them, so about ten times you get dings that imitate your text notifications, and every time a new article is added, it saves a copy of the app's icon into my folders. So i have thousands of identical images flooding my folders with just a blue "N" and constant dinging doesn't matter if it's middle of the day or middle of the night.
I'm not flush with cash, but I am grateful that I am at the point in my life if I can drop half a grand to be rid of this bullshit, I can do that.
I can deal with a lot. Getting gaslit by my own phone isn't one of them. I don't have a preference for the UI, I don't have a preference for the feature set. All I want is a phone that looks decent and won't ring for shit I don't tell it to.

Unfortunately the days of being able to install the OS you want on the mobile phone you own are nearly gone. Most OEMs now routinely lock bootloaders and make it harder to repair bricked devices after custom firmware flashing errors. Anyone know how strict the Google store trade in is? My pixel 6 has a cracked screen, but it still works. Google only ask two questions, but in the T&C's further down, it says: "Your device must be in good working order, power up, and have no major screen damage to qualify".
I don't really care about the trade in value of my phone, I just want to qualify for the £400 off. If a cracked screen would get my phone rejected, I'd rather not go through the hassle of wiping the data and sending it away.

I replaced the battery, screen and it's currently running LOS. Yes, it's a 7 year old phone but I was shocked that it runs so well on Android 16. Yes, it has 12gb of RAM so it's no slouch but, other than gaming which I don't do anyway, it matches the other two phones, with a better screen than the iPhone and larger screen than the outer one on my Fold. Who cares? Apple is for techlets, plain and simple. The reason I am convinced you and your ilk are just paid marketing shills is because you're on a technology board and don't know a fucking thing about technology. So, why are you here? Here's the facts of the matter. Apple DOES make a solid product, they really do. Their products "just work." With that there is no question. For the average NPC, iPhones are perfect.
But, iPhones are not the end all be all. They're locked down and proprietary, closed source.
Android is a viable option for those of us who legitimately enjoy technology. Android let's us customize, install our own APKs (for now), have access to the file system, and multitude of other things. Not only that, but there are different brands and models that fit anyone's budget.
If I were an NPC who scrolls TikTok and cares less about technology, I'd get an iPhone hands down. But, I do care, so an overpriced locked down, what essentially a toy, doesn't work for me.
So go fuck yourself and the marketing firm you work for. And, get the fuck off my board.

I don't despise Apple, I despise the army of genuine morons who don't know their ass from a whole in a ground, but are confident they can solve the world's deepest mysteries.

So I managed to sell a no longer used video card for 400 big boys, but I still can't decide on a phone to buy. I'm moving from a Pixel 6a. What would (you) recommend I buy? It has to be compatible with verizon, atleast 256gb of storage, and I'm willing to go slightly above $400 for the right device.

I have an iPhone 12 from 2022 when I was a teenager. Battery health is at 80%. I can get a Motorola phone from Verizon for free, but should I get one now or wait until they release their GrapheneOS-compatible model next year? Did they even mention anything about bootloaders or is Verizon going to lock it anyways?

Avoid the older pixels if you can. Overall they're great phones, but they have week cell radios the Samsung Exynos Modem 5123 and 5300... they're legit shit. You'll get one bar standing next to a cell tower.
Check eBay and look for a deal on a 9 or newer. They have an improved modem.
