>>109578289They can be, sometimes. The newer stuff has gotten a lot better and a lot easier, especially for running LLMs on Linux. Outside of that, I don't think I'd normally recommend them unless you're just chasing VRAM/$ or tokens/second/$, fun stuff for enthusiasts and potentially great value for certain use-cases but not a normal recommendation. The sweet spot for the AMD stuff on the used market is the 6800XT, 6900XT, 7800XT, (all found in the $420-$520 range on ebay) and 7900XT (~$900). I definitely wouldn't recommend the workstation stuff without lots of prior research and willingness to put in more effort than you would with the equivalent NVIDIA option, the consumer stuff is "safer".
