Why haven't you Installed Gentoo yet anon?
>>
Because PopOS is all I need. Worked from day and still works years later.

Because I don't look like that

The problem with Gentoo you don't just install it. You have to keep installing it. Over and over.

Wait... I finally understand Gentoo

Because TempleOS isn't obnoxious like *nix systems.

But I have.
Weaklings are turned away by apparent complexity when there's none. Gentoo is the best distro for long-term maintenance hands down.
>>
>>109583946
I did, but as cool as use flags were it was just very inconvenient both in power consumption and time spent compiling. The juice is not worth the squeeze, but cool distro nonetheless.

Okay, now what
>>
>>109583946
I installed in a VM to test it out but I find the package system to be way too autistic for my taste.

Gentoo is like Slackware. They're both solid distros that give you absolute control, but they're still very niche and more hobbyist distros than not.
I grew up on Slack, but at the point I just want my shit to work. If I want to fire up Arkhan Knight I don't want to have to spend 30 minutes trying to figure out why steam isn't launching. I just want it to work out of the box and Pop does that for me.

it's expensive. in both electricity and time

So is your mom but that doesn't stop me from dropping a 20 spot now and then for a good ride. How do you think she affords your Dino Nuggies?
You're welcome, CHUD

I used Gentoo from 2009 through 2011.
I learned a lot about Linux in those years.
Also Portage is a pretty cool dude.
These days don't do anything interesting on my personal computer, so I use Mint.

>source based but not reproducible

Gentoo is a very stale, unfunny meme at this point
>>
>>109593395
I would use nix, but I'm curious on one thing:
Is there a well known, stable set of hashes for everything that is reproducible in the nix tree?

The reason I ask is because I want to skip compilation of the packages. I can easily independently verify that the hashes match, I would go to the public library, and use the computer there to verify that the hashes match. In fact, I've done this before with Libreboot.

So yeah, is there a well known list of hashes for nixos, a stable point release, so that I could reproducible build it, check the hashes, etc? How does that work in nixos?

Because if there isn't, I'm sticking with Devuan
>>
>>109583946
Because I messed something up during the part after after extracting the stage3 ;-;
And got dropped to a shell instead of a desktop
