i've been a freelance programmer for my entire career (40+ years), and have always come by work via word of mouth. it's been getting harder to find work that way for the past 5 years or so, and so i've started looking into recruiter/contractor firms (like robert half technology, toptal, etc). does anyone know if these companies actually get steady work for contract programmers? also, are there other companies that i should look into besides these guys?also, before anyone says i should be retired by now: that's not the point. i love programming and i'll be doing it when i'm 100, if i live that long.
lol, i thought i was in /g/
>>109588878If you've really been a freelance programmer for 40+ years, then you should know more about contracting gigs and the state of industry than all of /g/.
>>109589314i've *never* had to go the route of using the consulting firms, since i always got gigs from people who recommending me to colleagues, etc. that worked fine forever, but now it doesn't, so i'm having to try something new. so, no, i don't know these other ways, which is why i'm asking.
>>109588878ehif you find out let me fucking knowI need to pay my next month's rent and can't find a freelance for shit. those free lance websites seem to be jeet spammed and you need to PAY for the contractor to READ your resume
