>/g/ makes a 22nd album
Theme: remixes, remakes, and other music based on previous /dmp/ songs. (5th anniversary special)
Deadline: 8th Nov, 10:00UTC
Listening party: 14th Nov, 22:00UTC

Suggest themes for the 23rd album.

>How to submit a song for the album
You can upload audio here without a login:
catbox.moe/
dmpproductions.org/mediaboard?thread=14
Other services can be used, as long as the download is publicly accessible.

Create a post in /dmp/ with a link to the song.
AI policy:
- "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation.
- You are allowed to ask an AI about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is prohibited.
- You may use AI generated samples, but it must be disclosed what parts come from AI.
- AI-based tools can be applied (eg. stem separation), but should also be declared.
- Every song submission, regardless of AI usage, should include some level of proof that the song was not AI-generated. This can be a DAW screenshot.
- The album organiser reserves the right to reject a submission if it is deemed that AI was used too heavily.
- If you are unsure about aspects of the AI policy, ask.

Optionally, you can attach cover art, lyrics, and an artist name to your submission. The artist name cannot be one you use on other platforms.
Songs that break YouTube's rules won't be uploaded there, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your song. Light-touch mastering is sometimes applied to improve the coherence of the album.

What's a tracker? It emulates console chips, like Genesis, C64, and old sound chips.

this sounds nothing special, it's not shocking that it only has 10k views

you people objectively have bad taste, you might get some work as a professional by grifting off of other people's hopes and dreams but you basically have zero chance of making music that's actually great and legitimately worth millions of dollars

suno can do pretty convincing EDM slop that is good and successful enough to get recommended by the algorithm alongside legitimate artists. not that suno is actually that great but most EDM producers are such fucking stupid uncreative hacks who can't put the effort in to even make something as good as what suno shits out.

Nice. Now let's see Yasunori Mitsuda's business studio.

That's not what most trackers do, there are a few that do that.
>>
>>109589603
some trackers "emulate" other chips, many don't. traditional trackers utilized real hardware.

yes. so convincing that people still point it out as absolute slop and shit on the people that post it. really evolving there. agi in two more weeks, maybe less

even in 2002 a lot of this shit was replaceable with VST plugins. if this was 1989 i would be impressed.

cope harder lil deaf nigga, some of the AI tracks get hundreds of thousands or millions of streams and they genuinely sound good, not earth shattering great, but much better than what most wannabes could ever make themselves
>>
>>109592288
>youtube comments are somehow valid opinions
cool story bro. two more weeks.
>>
>>109592339
i can literally hear that it sounds good. you're literally too stupid to enjoy music properly so you'll cope with your 10k views tranny music instead of making absolute bangers that get millions of streams
>>
it's eye opening really... anons believe that no one can hear if a song is truly a banger, it has to be forced via marketing, botted streams, repeated radio play. they don't have a natural affinity for music yet they feel like they deserve to become music producers because they believe that there's no such thing as genius, they don't believe in innate talent, they think they can become talented by working hard so that they can just force their way into getting good at music. it may seem impolite to call them stupid but that's what they really are. and they are so cocky and full of themselves so they think i'm the schizo and i'm the one who's stupid etc.
>>
>>109593273

does raper actually have a better way to slice tracks? Like for my way of operating, it's all about slicing, I have some shit, eg I recorded myself, most of it is shit but I got one good groove or two, or three, or a dozen different things and words or found sounds

anyway, slicing. It looked super dumb. pro tools looks shit at this too. I looked everywhere but didn't directly try it (watched videos)
>>
Yes I have used Audacity, it's not the worst thing in the world at slicing but yeah not exactly nice either, lots of jank that :( frownies your whole day.

you're actually fucking horrible people, maybe if there are underage kids here they can catch a break because they have the potential to mature, but many anons are old enough that they should know better, some anons are literally old geezers who have been making music for decades and still suck

>>109590278
How much of that is bloat?

ardour is easy enough to slice in, I haven't touched reaper in 10 years, so I don't remember. It's probably just a skill issue on your part. I wouldn't imagine a daw has problems with chopping up a sound file. Most of them have that feature. Ardour does automatic crossfades, though. When you import a file, the volume is already tapered at the start and end and when you trim a recording, it add them there, too. I don't remember reaper doing that. I could be wrong.

A tracker is just picrel. You compose a track with a n interface that scrolls downward through voices. You input notes, modulation, etc, and it scrolls through it.

>you're too stupid to enjoy ai slop generated by losers that can't write
cool story, loser bro. two more weeks. maybe more bot traffic to boost stream numbers (you know.. things losers do) will make it less shit.

anons have also said that objectively successful mega hits with hundreds of millions or billions of streams are shit. you're resorting to cognitive biases because you can't judge the actual music with any reasonable objectivity. if you had a good judgment then it would be fairly straightforward to become a successful music producer because then you know what decisions to make to make your music sound good. but only a tiny fraction of wannabes can actually make it because it requires real talent and dedication which you don't have.
>>
>>109599264
normie music is made of retard-tier brain hacks. anyone with enough music theory knowledge can write an ear worm that normies think is good purely because it gets stuck in your head. If it's even on a top-n-list curated by jews, it's most likely goyslop created in exactly this way. Here's some actual music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xo9eVty8jM
compare to goyslop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kffacxfA7G4
>>
>>109599413
fuck you fuck you fuck you. it's not even about music theory. if you weren't retarded, you would be able to learn music theory for yourself and basically win at life with plenty of money, attention from attractive women or whatever you're into. but you would most likely be a cringelord like jacob collier or berklee professors no matter how much music theory you learn.
>>
>>109599490
Cope and seethe retard. Most of this shit in the top-100 lists is all that is even subject to be replaced or affected by ai because it basically already has been for the past 100 years. Now, there's just lest steps between comittee and goythroat.
>>
>>109599508
tell that to >>109598084, he thinks the AI tracks can't be good and it has to be fraudulent using botted streams

>>109599539
you truly are stupid, you can't appreciate the mainstream culturally relevant music, you don't have the meta of how music is produced in a studio because you live decades in the past still using MS-DOS tier trackers instead of a proper DAW, even darude sandstorm needed external help from a producer who rebuilt the track using lots of hardware
>>
it's not cute to be unironically stupid, you're descipable people who don't even enjoy music like a normal person, you're racist and sexist etc
>>
>>109599413
Music theory is unnecessary to make a good and iconic track, plenty of examples from 90s electronic music or even the modern scene, and no I'm not talking about the trashy cheesy mainstream Eurodance/Europop/festival EDM cancer

Its just a different workflow. Its not objectively better or anything, just a unique daw environment and in my subjective opinion it makes the workflow interesting and thus fun and enjoyable. Ive made like half of my projects in fl studio and the other half in renoise. Making music in a traditional daw like fl studio was loads of fun too but ive ditched windows so atm i only make music in renoise.
Eventually i plan to get a license for bitwig or reaper since i do miss the trad daw experience, but for now renoise has kept me happy
