Using vinegar is a common way to descale. Just run plain water through it a few times and it should be fine.

Diluted white vinegar actually does effectively descale electric coffee makers. The problem is you have to run plain water at least twice after you run the vinegar. It sounds like a waste of electricity, but it works.

You're supposed to use around 2/3 water and 1/3 distilled white vinegar.Run another clean cycle with a filter in the basket and use only distilled water. If there's no clean button then press and hold the power button for five seconds until the clean cycle starts. It takes about 45 minutes total.Repeat as needed. I usually run two water only cycles after a clean cycle.
