doing something with your hands, watching actuall stuff grow and build, reconciling with nature as we are stuck in caves, things like that

First of all, it isn't, second of all, delusion.

Mine is not farming. I just wish I would have enough money so that I could live in a fucked up shed in fucking nowhere.
I'd get me some musk internet to shitpost here and then take care of my almost broken house and ride my mountainbike in between. fuck farming

Because they havent touched farm work once in their lives.
I actually have a pretty big garden and live in the countryside and I''m aware how painful farm work can be. They are utterly delusional and think its as easy as sitting 12 hours infront of your monitor and googling shit. 90% of them will be gassed after a single day of picking weeds in 35 degrees summer heat, crouching like a duck on the ground.
And getting any animals aside for maybe chickens that basically take care of themselves if you dont forget to throw them food once a day is a whole another can of worms...
Yeah, its a romantic dream and it is indeed doable, since im fucking doing it, but I know shitloads of people who also are "planning" on doing once their jobs get axed and I know majority of them just arent built for it

you are fundamentally not understanding why that work appeals to a software engineer

that's the whole point of it tho. Torturing yourself to forget about this shitty life.

yeah haha exactly, there is no retirement anymore for us.
we will work till 70 and then we will collect empty bottles and empty cans for money lmao

mine is either woodworking or being a shooting instructor.
>>
>>109596715
having something fundamentally appealing to you and actually doing it, especially for a living is too different things
reality is, it is a physically demanding work and someone in their 30s or 40s who never did any before(which lets be honest, most ITcucks are) simply will bite more than he chew and give up, i know plenty of friends that tried it and got houses in the countryside.
now their gardens are just covered with lawn grass and they go to the nearest supermarket in the city twice a week to actually survive

They don't mean industrial farming. They mean small scale, high margins, organic farm to local table shit like microgreens. Anyway none of them are going to do it. Millennials all have some gay diy kumbayah work with my hands bullshit dream except none of them have actually ever done any kind of skilled labor. It's very hemingway.
>>
I actually did it after 10 years of ITCuck. But for me it was return to the roots, as i grew up in rural area, and former commie shithole, you had to learn to work. I made it because i know what 12 hours of picking cucumbers cutting your hands to shit feels like.
Average soiboi itcuck i work with would get the ick from seeing bug larvae and give up after 1 hour of weed pulling. If he decides to get animals, my bet is the goose is now alpha male and he is a beta on his own lawn. Having said that, I'm sure there's a good deal of people like me who ain't scared of some work.

Because the motivation was to make the world a better place, show off your skills and have fun, but the more you learn about tech and software, the more you hate it and you quickly learn that everything you do for a company is fucking evil.

I unironically want to move far, faaar away and be a farmer as well, I fucking hate post 2022 tech.
>>
>>109596696
Nigga, I used to work in a farm every summer for more than 10 years. I did all of that and much more and it's much easier than have to deal with deadlines, workplace, girl bosses, HR, hustle and bustle of the city
>>
>>109597409

zoomer or just completely delusional?
>>
>>109596696
It's code for suicide you dumb ass. They just don't have the balls to say they'd rather starve to death somewhere no one would notice. If they succeed, they survive without anymore human interaction, if they fail, they die without anyone noticing.

zoomer, but yeah, pre covid software was better, especially the web

I'm guessing it's a meme coming from faggots who don't actually like computers or technology but still got it because of the money, then they weep and cry in self-pity about how they're on le computer all the time woe is me and how they'd prefer the simple farmer life (they likely haven't even done 10 minutes of work on a field in the summer sun in their entire life).
>>
>>109596540
>programming
can theoretically control everything but you will always find roadblocks such as other programmers or shit you could do, but don't have enough time to do
>farming
you can only do as good a job as the weather allows
you can only do a limited amount of things to make shit grow in a day since you can't magically skip time
you're not on a forever treadmill of learning shit just to discard it the next hype cycle

it's called letting go
>>
>>109597555
You're guessing wrong.
I loved computers and programming since I was a teenager. Before I was a programmer I had physical jobs, first mowing lawns and picking fruit, then in warehouses. I know what hard work is.
After 15 years in software engineering you realize most commercial projects are pretty similar, it stops being as exciting as at the beginning. You rarely see the fruit of your work, currently I write software for industrial machines I never even seen with my eyes, and still it's miles better than writing any kind of financial software.
Then there is sitting in front of monitor all day, back problems, eyes problems, RSIs.
Then there is technology churn, new trends, frameworks and tools, and now LLMs that make a hefty part of your trade skills irrelevant.
This year I started growing vegetables on my balcony and it was really enjoyable for all the reasons >>109596562 mentioned. It's far from real farming and I still like programming, but I recommend having a hobby that's not heavily related to technology. I'd start working with wood or leather if I wasn't such a clumsy fuck
>>
>>109596540
you still don't need to talk to people
>>
>>109596540
Because technology is evil, and the more time you spend with it the more apparent this truth becomes.

Don't you already do that? We all do.

My parents owned a small farm. Their parents owned a real farm. As usual the only people who make these claims have never been anywhere near a farm. It's very funny, but I don't understand why you'd spread these lies that must surely come straight from some tikt*k infl*encer.
>>
>>109596540

What do you intend to eat between your fits of incel babyrage? Farming is a necessity in that scenario.

Soulless and unimaginative people copying other people's LARPs. It's a virtue signaling circle jerk for social validation.

I live in southwestern Ontario surrounded by farmland, 90% of the work farmers do here is just programming drones and tractors to do the work automatically. The other 10% is equipment maintenance.

Going from selling your soul to a corporation for money to selling your soul to a corporation to automate your monocrop farm (which has yet to proven to be a viable business model). Bravo.

NTA but no some people are just clumsy i had lots of exercise and stuff my whole life I just always had bad hand eye coordination which is why I love computers so much and now love AI so much

Sissy farms would be great, but theres no money in it. Its more a community service.

Personally my backup plan is working at fastfood. Easy, and i like food.
