I’ve been thinking about the datacenter problem and I have to say that I think the techbros might be fucking it up for themselves. The obvious model is to get everyone hooked and then enshitify, but they’re ignoring the most important driver of technology - porn.

VHS was porn.
DVD porn again.
Online credit card billing invented by and for porn.
And yet all the big boys on the enshitify model are so heavily censored half the time they refuse to draw “a woman”.

Ultimately the hyperscalers are going to get btfo by small scale systems with slower but more creative output, and the place we’ll see that really start to take off is porn.

sad but true.

Blame the Feminists and Christcucks for that.

Also, the Model T didn't have porn but it still BTFO the horse.

browse /gif/ for long enough and you'll realize how far ahead of this they are than you

go look at some sora 2 comps, and then realize theyve had private models with better quality longer

you're right but they actually overdid the censorship way more than just for porn so the effect of local/open sauce models winning is arguably even somewhat stronger.

but what you said also isn't much of a prediction, the internet has a whole lot of the "btfo'd by small scale systems with [...] more creative output" already?

>>109601378
and yet most of the outputs you see on other boards is not the "sora 2" SaaS output but the btfo'd by more creative models.

why? becuase people could actually use them to do whatever and they couldn't with the censored (and often inaccessible/very expensive/...) models.

sexy things aren't "in" atm.
but you're right, vhs won because it had porn, the internet won because it had porn. the only reason i use local ai right now is because it can make porn
>>

This

It just makes sense to hold off pushing it mainstream until it’s ready. Same with chub/crushon. They work fine but they’re not yet refined enough to work effortlessly.
>>
>>109601214
you are not wrong. seriously, I really don't understand what is going in their fucking retarded skulls.
>>109602367
this. same. I hardly if ever use local models to do any coding etc.

These are all wrong though..

not everything requires porn to succeed, but if it's an option and especially if you're competing with it then porn will always win.
like vhs vs. betamax, sony restricted porn being sold on betamax, and since vhs was a more open format, they just sold porn on that instead. there were other factors that helped vhs win, but porn was one of them

I'm a gooner but your logic isn't consistent.
The Nintendo Wii won its generation and it wasn't because of "porn".

In fact, none of the video game consoles allow porn but they still gangbusters anyway.

As long as a new tool works and does its job then people will buy it.
>>
>>109602435
i guess you missed the first 6 words of my post somehow. video game consoles have a separate reason to exist. porn has helped push things that were once looking for reasons to exist/become popular with consumers.
it's hard to deny porn was a strong reason for many people to get on the internet. the first online payment processor was made to support porn sites, there were likely many people who went with a vhs vcr over a betamax vcr because it had much more porn available for it

you want to sell your AI to large corporations with billions of dollars, not some broke pedo coomers

There is no datacenter problem—there's an eater problem: the market is correcting it.
>>

Nta, but as a counter example, youtube was made expressly to share that one actresses wardrobe malfunction apparently, but after expressly banning pornography has out competed every other tube site.

I don't think anyone would really disagree that having an additional vector to push sales and move into new market verticals is 'generally' beneficial, but pornography tends to have a pretty corrosive element when/if it becomes the primary reason for adoption. OF will never be anyone other than a porn site no matter how badly they wish they could evolve passed it which severely caps its addressable market.

There honestly may be just as many failure stories using porn as there are successes.

I'm an ethical gooner; I only look at drawings made by a human.

sure, i'm by no means saying porn is the be-all and end-all, and sure in some cases allowing porn can make your thing porn-only. i wasn't aware OF wanted to do something else, not sure how that'd work either, it's not like OF is like "The Internet", where while "the internet is for porn" at least was a well-known semi-joke, it was also pretty obvious it had other uses, too. if you make something just for porn then it's going to stay just for porn.

>youtube was made expressly to share that one actresses wardrobe malfunction apparently
lol, maybe that's why it won over Google Video so google just had to buy youtube instead. remember google video?
>>
>>109602516

was that the janet jackson nip slip? i think that was around that time

i like yuge data centers cause they remind me of real life factorio builds

>VHS was porn
No. VHS won because it could record a full football game on a single tape, and Betamax, because sony refused to sacrifice video quality, could not. Among other things.
Hell, that's not why DVD won either. The Playstation 2 played a large part in that one, being a game console that also put a DVD player in your home. And the competition just wasn't there.
The internet, idk. Sure. I guess.
