Another day of Frameworks half-assed BIOS breakinghttps://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/08/framework-responds-to-complaints-that-bios-update-bricked-ryzen-7040-laptops/
>>109605201>Ryzen 7040Didn't even know it existed, big nothingburger / who cares lol
has nothing on the innumerable enshittification of all major laptop companiesfor example my dell xps that I paid $1200 for in 2016 dollars had glue holding the rubber feet on that melted from heat of the laptopframework won. you can make a case for buying any brand used, but buying any other brand new is incredibly foolish.
>>109605201Ahh the famous macbook killer company kek!!
>>109605244>glue holding the rubber feet on that melted from heat of the laptopwell that's like every laptop everyou'll inevitably apply some shear force as well by moving the laptop and that's what you end up with
>>109605244tell us more anon
>>109605201Today I will remind them:Framework 16's first batch thermal throttles and the FUCKING JEET **STILL** HASN'T ACKNOWLEDGED IT:https://community.frame.work/t/uneven-cpu-thermals/55614
>>109605244>for example my dell xps that I paid $1200 for in 2016 dollars had glue holding the rubber feet on that melted from heat of the laptopIf this happened recently that's decent for 10 years of glue to hold up. I have a 9 year old military laptop and the glue for the rubber feet came off when I left it in a hot car recently but I just glued it back on no problem. Not sure how you can make it more permanent without making it much harder to repair.
>>109607110My framework 13 did this. Absolute piece of shit. Support would do nothing except gaslight me into thinking it wasn't a problem. I bought a thinkpad and sold the framework to some retard.
>>109607110isn't it known that the liquid metal was poorly applied and you'd be better suited switching to PTM at your own risk
>Ryzen 7040How can you even brick a CPU? Isn't amd the only one releasing and crypto signing microcode blob?
>>109607388it was a corrupt bios apparentlyfaulty updater with no recovery
>>109607441>no recoveryCommon story. No one thinks about failure scenarios anymore.
>>109605244>framework wonsaar do the needful and buy the product on our website, all data fully brahmin certified safe thanks to our brahmin certified partners!
>>109605201>freetards shit out near-useless operating systems for 35 yearsNobody bats an eye.>freetards shit out near-useless applications for 50 yearsNobody bats an eye.>freetards shit out near-useless firmware for a near-useless plastic toy for a single-digit number of yearsEveryone has a surprisedpikachuface, and I don't understand why.Freetards can't into software, never have and that's why they have to give their shit away - and even then, most people refuse to use it.
>>109608527>freetards shit out near-useless operating systems for 35 years (for free)"there is no warranty for this free software.">freetards shit out near-useless applications for 50 years"there is no warranty for this free software.">freetards shit out near-useless firmware for a near-useless plastic toy for a single-digit number of yearswhile charging apple prices for a beta compal laptopneed a fix? just pay 500 buckssee? its repairable
>>109607542And if you were designing and pushing out a tech product, would you?All brands do now is go hyper competitive on the price which necessitates they cut corners as much as possible. That's the consumer market. If you want an ounce of reliability or repairabiltiy you buy an enterprise produce (and even then there's plenty of cases where the "fix" is to replace the unit which you won't be getting as a consumer). You need to invest the R&D and QA time for that kind of failure prevention, and neither Framework nor AMD is any more free of sin. As other anon pointed out, if you buy new you deserve it.
>>109608578
>>109607110>>109607285>im too retarded to replace the liquid metal with alternative thermal materialshouldve just typed that
>>109605201never update your bios. best case scenario, it does fucking nothing. worst case scenario, it bricks your computer
>>109608578OK, that's fair comment. I forgot to account for the "freetards suck at software, but superlatives to describe their epic failures visible from Ross 154 with binoculars haven't been invented when it comes to hardware, because its far harder to rip off a physical object than it is someone else's code" angle.
>>109608663
>>109608730you gonna blame the company for the screen cracking after you drop it too?
Threadly reminder that you can buy 2 thinkpads for the price of one framework, 3 if you buy certified refurb.
>>109608742
>>109608770and all of them combined will be worth less in function than a framework
>>109608780the apple shill thread is this way saar >>109568868
>>109608815
dont update your bios on day 1? thought it would be obvious with the amount of complaints of failed bios updates from the windows sideotherwise the laptops are excellent
>>109608663>>109608742>>109608815This is the moral equivalent of the "two clicks is 'tinkertranny', but editing dotfiles in ~/etc/shitware/faggot/obscure to configure your mouse is just fine honest guize" lincels go on with.
>>109605244everything i read says hope and pray that your framework has nothing wrong with it, because both their QA and their support are terrible.might as well buy a lenovo, given that they are on the same repairability wagon now for the t14 gen 7.
>AMD trashtops lol

>>109609072Correct. This is /g/, computers are Reddit terminals. Toys, if you will. The concept of actually doing something useful with a computer is a completely alien concept to the ni/g/ger.

>>109609147>it's modular, that means it's good and you can't criticize the computer not fucking working properly unless you have some kind of special snowflake RAM that's been purchased directly from their marketplace that they personally tested

>>109605280>>109607145I had an Asus Expertbook book and it's feet gave up after a month.2 months with a MacBook air, it's still perfect. The HP dragonfly even before any of them lasted a good year before peeling. In general the Anus laptop has been the most shoddily built thing I've used.
