Anons, please help me.I need a good linux distro and DE to obsess over. Something to get into autistic screeching matches against other autistic anons. But it has to be good.I'm leaning towards Debian and XFCE, but it bothers me that Debian is too lefty/femnazi leaning. I'm a proper right-leaning white man.I wanted to like Omarchy but it's just a shitty bunch of user scripts and tilling dumbassery. Also tried ReactOS (not linux, I know), but it's not there yet, although I could see it becoming decent enough to daily drive in a few centuries.
>>109605997Come on, give me a weird (but useful, I still want to do shit) hill to die on.
just go get angry about systemd
>>109605997Arch + GNOME and you will never distro/de hop ever
Raspbian and lxde
>>109605997Artix with dinit. You can screech at search engines because every search result is about Arch with systemd and usually involves AUR packages. Be contrarian and don't use the AUR.
gentoo because waiting multiple hours is good
>>109605997I'll confirm Debian, if only because they're the only ones that release blueray isos with all (minus non-free I think?) packages in their repository.Literally nobody else does that.If you want to archive other distros you have to rsync their repository, which inevitably will get package updates during the rsync, breaking dependencies, so you can never have a reliable archive. With Debian you have the entire repository for every release point, with official sha512 hashes to boot. This is my weird hill. I hoard exe installers on Windows, I hoard repositories on Linux.
>>109605997Missing the console wars of your childhood, I see.But you picked a dead horse. Nobody feels that excited about Linux anymore, because the times of being excited for anything Linux are long over.IDK, try Slackware or something. It won't help, though.
>>109605997Alpine Linux.
>>109606265How big is a repo?
>>109606563So based. So fucking based. Not more based than this under any circumstances. Alpine will absolutely buttfuck you if you're used to the other distros, and even LLMs can't give accurate support for random issues with busybox, but holy shit. Under 200MiB ram usage idle. And under 300 with a desktop. The meta packages are broken as fuck. I'm gonna have to start contributing to the wiki.
XFCE is a good choice for a DE but I'd go with Fedora for the distro. It just works and has enterprise backing rather than than just tranny devs and people love to seethe about calling it's users 'beta testers'.
>>109606595Debian's is currently six 25GB ISOs (binaries) plus five more if you want the source code too.https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd64/jigdo-bd/https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/source/jigdo-bd/
Debian is the white man's distro, but if you think it's too "leftist" (whatever that means) just use Deuvan instead
embrace irony and use gnome and defend ebussy ironically
>>109605997Install gentoo
>>10960656350% of distros are "security oriented". The rest is "easy to install" or "easy to upgrade" or a lot of other shit I don't give a shit about. Why can't there be a linux distro that's focused on being breath-takingly beautiful? Or on "you'll still be able to use this without missing a single feature if the government takes down internet tomorrow"-like useability?Linux is the poster-child of ugly and cloud-based OS and I fucking hate it.
>>109606887The world is in the cloud now, chuddabunga. Don't be an old fart.
>>109606610>Clusterfuck dumpster fire>Yes please, absolutely based>Insert reddit basedjack
>>109605997>Linux>desktop >Has to be goodThis is a trick question, not gonna fall for it this time
Fedora has been the white mans operating system for quite some time now
>>109606169but artix is no systemd so its like super tranny coded and op wants to be a proper nazitempleos is the only way for op im afraid
>>109605997Given the conditions, there's really only fedora, the white man's job haver distro. Unless you're some closeted faggot, then try artix/arch.
>>109605997Get PopOS. Stop fucking around. It just works and it works well. You can listen to me or not. Or listen to the faggots here who will distro war you into getting their favorite distor. The only way you're going to figure it all out is to install several distros one at a time and figure it out for yourself.I will tell you Pop, some other faggot will tell you Fedora, yet another faggot will tell you Arch. And we all have valid reasons.

>>109608843The i recommend going to a hardware store, buying some study rope, finding a high cross beam.
>>109608849No thanks, I'd rather have the ability to minimise windows.
>>109608862Ahh yes, given the size your.... peepee.... I can understand your desire to "minimize" everything. Dumbass, you can minimize windows in any DE... go back to Windows and your r/sub and never come here again. Go ahead, we'll let you lie and tell your "friends" how you owned the chuds for those juicy updoots.
alpine + tty + tmux + alsa + w3m + cmus + mpv (--vo=drm) + yt-dlp + fzf + transmission-cli + pdftotext
>>109608892>go back to WindowsWindows didn't invent minimising windows. GNOME is the first and only desktop environment to dispense with this concept, and even then it only did so about 15 years ago.
>>109608911Please understand Pop and Void users are built a little different. For instance. I just spent an hour arguing with an chatbot about whether 4 Cylon Basestars could take out a Death Star... given the mass of the Death Star vs the energy yield of the full payloads of the Basestars. Now, I could have been jerking off to porn, playing Arkham Knight, watching YooooooTooooob... but no. Now, to address the absolute stupidity of your troll reply. You CAN minimize windows in GNOME. If you can't figure out how, as I said before. Go back.
>>109608953>your troll replySo telling me to go back to Windows for expecting a standard Linux feature isn't trolling? No thanks, I'll just use Plasma.
>>109608953You cannot minimize windows in GNOME—you can only put them on different workspaces, effectively hiding them.
>>109608981Ohhhhh I get it now... I pegged you as "not the OP" a while ago, but now I get it. You're one of those KuckDE homosexual shills, serving under a self-induced obligation to defend your DE. Yes, the great debate... KuckDE vs GNOME. >Krash vs Hey bro just turn min/max on, done.Did I get it right????
>>109609006What the fuck are you talking about? I used GNOME 2 during the Bush presidency. Your shitty iPad knockoff USED to let you minimise windows. Was that a fucking Microsoftism back then? No? So why does literally EVERY other Linux DE retaining this spark a "REEEEEEEEE GO BACK TO WINDOWS!!!!" response in you?
>>109608997>click the minus sign>windows goes away>click the app/program in the Dock>app/program goes big!>not minimizingIn that immortal word... wut?
>>109609024That's pretty good. 8/10
>>109609033>click the minus sign>dockWhere the fuck do you figure? Plus, you can't even put files on your desktop with this shitty DE.
Nothing makes /g/ seethe more than using stock Ubuntu
What's up, nigger! You say you "need" a distro+DE to "obsess over" yet you're concerned about Debian being "too lefty/femnazi leaning"? I think you're retarded and your shit's all fucked up but I'll give you a recommendation anyway. IceWM + Void.
>>109605997>Something to get into autistic screeching matches against other autistic anons.Artix with DWM.Use only xterm for the VTE (yes it is faster than Ghostty.)Install Neovim, do not install any plugins so you can argue with neovim users who pluginmax and are uncomfortable about their init.lua.
>>109609104>Artix with DWM.*CWM buit I guess DWM works too. It might actually be better since you configure it by modifying the source so that's a good start in the direction of a completely unique WM.
>>109609076I'm bored with you, Raji.Run along and hit the Ganges up for some copper diving. Hopefully you drown.>>109609104As some who enjoys Void... I do appreciate Artix the absolutely based dev team IS something to consider. But, I'll still recommend Pop to the OP.>All white dev team>No politics>The only commercial distro to actively and publicly stand again Age VerificationBut, I do appreciative me some Artix too.
>>109609161Show me the minus button in my screenshot, I'll wait.>if you don't like GNOME, you are actually le indianGNOME is the fucking DE that named its entire interface "Adwaita" ROFLMAO. GNOMEfags are orientalist faggots who'd pay good money to get gangraped by a pack of jeets.

>>109606176the thing that ruins gentoo for me is that you sometimes have to update your system before you can run something, even if you've updated the night before, meaning that you can't run that thing that day because the coom-piling would take too long
