Why is KDE so fucking ugly out of the box? It looks like a school computer lab from 2012.

It really does take some work to make modern operating systems look halfway decent.

KDE has been ripping off Windows for decades. But then along came Windows 8, and they stopped dead in their tracks and ripped off macOS for a while.
When Win10 came along they resumed copying Windows lock, stock and barrel, but since there was 3-4 years of UI development where they went in a completely different direction, their following decade of catch-up never quite gelled.
This is why it looks like a horrible mish-mash of Windows 7, macOS and Windows 10 - because it IS.

Schizobro, it's one of the first Google image results for KDE. Of course multiple people have posted it.

And that's a good thing.

lol, ricetards
>>
>>109608950
Yeah looks like a total eyesore, how do you make UI worse than windows 8

spbp, checked, /thread, etc.

That's....that's just LibreOffice...

idk, maybe post pics of it so we can compare? at least in your pic it looks good, so i dont see what you're complaining about

I'm talking about the flat symbolic icons from KDE casually appearing in the terminal's menu bar and "ruining the immersion". Theming in Linux is a nightmare because different parts of the UI of the same program may use completely different toolkits/hacks that don't give a fuck about your custom settings. That's why custom themes never look good.

Who cares about terminals, nobody uses them except for trannies.
>>
>>109609516
Yeah, who cares about loonix's UI being broken by design. Nobody uses it except for trannies.

Terminals, by definition, are not a GUI.
>>
>>109608950
It's worked on by volunteer amateur devs as a side hobby project after they get home from their real jobs.
>>
>>109608950
its prefect out of the box imo
>>
kde ui elements look fine, it's just that their default color schemes are terrible. not hard to change that though
>>
>>109608950
Especially infuriating because every non-tinker distro comes with this horrible default theme, when the whole point of me using a normal distro is to not have to tinker around with everything. Yet to make KDE not ugly you have to install third party garbage like Kwantum (reminds me of the bad old days of Stardock on XP) and install themes bit by bit on the Discover store. This is why every single Linux power user forgoes DEs entirely in favor of tiling window managers.
>>
>>109608970
for starters...
the app icons on the taskbar's left side are the incorrect size and misaligned
the tray icons on the right side are spaced incorrectly
the clock font seems too big
the white fog behind the window title does not extend the full title for some reason, and window title font again seems too big

Used to deal with two guys that were 100% ocd. They were interested in a project I was contributing to (mmorpg server).
It was fucking hell.
Dumbasses could write twenty paragraphs about why the drop rate of one item was wrong by 0.5%. There wasn't one single issue in the github repo that didn't have massive comments literally writing a novelization of the issue as if it was those "write a story from this prompt" fanfics.
I thought it was nice in the beginning, it was good to have passionate people and details are always good when trying to emulate an existing mmorpg server. But the novelty wore off after like three fucking days. Then it was wading through useless wordy bullshit to find if there was anything useful. Usually there wasn't, so both users went into the ignore list.
One of them tried to convince to apply myself to the Mensa International association because I was guaranteed to have high IQ since I could write mysql queries.
Yeah.

>>
>>109613352
do you honestly think windows aero looks so good because devs just used random values everywhere?
absolutely not
autist OCDs made sure everything is pixel perfect
which is why "KDE is so fucking ugly out of the box", because it lacks or does not listen to us
>>

They have existed since the 1990s, though kids usually have personal devices nowadays. How fucking old are you exactly?
