Practical plan for self host linux vps at home with 99% uptime:
>two linux boxes for ha
>a router with wifi turned off
>a ups to mitigate power outage
>a prepaid 4g sim card for mitigating isp outage
>dynamic dns for endpoint

Thoughts?

99% is less than two weekends of downtime per year.
You need your own power generation, at least here we reliably lose power every winter for a day or two.

So now you can't take any vacation, you really need a NOC as well if you're going to give out any kind of SLA.

The redundant ISP is a good idea, Cell operators tend to have backup generation for E911 as well.

>dynamic dns
God dammit. No you won't make it.

>Not having your whole house battery backup with circuits that continue working even when mains power is cut

>99% uptime
What for?

nothing you host at home could possibly be important enough to warrant this amount of forethought. if uptime is that important for you just pay the $5/m for a vm at a datacenter that has all of this

>just let them spy on you
